JR should be a much better player than he is. Very talented but has other interest and isn't in the game to be a great player. He is in the category of a player just trying to make a living.

JR Smith gets respect from me for taking less money to be here. How many Knicks have done that?

I agree but he still frustrates the hell out of me.

JR played great for us last year. He plays hard and is totally focused on defense. His shot went cold in the playoffs but he was an excellent player for us. He didn't get into any trouble while playing for us, that I recall. Why the hate from some people. For $2.8 mil he is a steal and fills a position we desparately need. A SG who can shoot and light up the Garden coming off the bench.

Another great Alley-oop by JR showing great body control and athleticism. I love this one.

Im a big time jr fan...esp since he went to HS here in newark where im from!

Hes a knucklehead but hes our knucklehead.lol

Nalod...i try to be objective and im the worst critic when it comes to the knicks

But hes right..jr WANTS to be here and he took less money...there r other players with less talent aand have done way more questionable misbehavior and are earning more

Now does taking less money make him a great knick player...will it stop the poor shot selection???..NO...but i will root harder for him cuz in my opinion he wants to be here...same with novak

Yeah but with JR it seems to be true. He seems to have a special relationship with Woodson. There has been a lot of CAA conspiracy theories floated here. However, if you think the Knicks got Brewer and JR for almost nothing maybe it isn't as bad a thing to get some pay back for going all in on Melo pre lockout.

I started this thread because of the dunk. I appreciate his talent and understand his career.

We got him as a free agent after his stint in China.

I understand he might have gotten more money this season but if he wants to be here its because of the money longer term.

Thats cool, but lets understand he don't play for you or me, its for a good payday. All he has to do is be professional about things and he'll earn a longer term deal.

Sometimes a man understands his faults and recognizes what he needs to overcome them. Maybe there is something here that helps JR to be the guy he wants to be. Personally I think Woodson might be a part of that.
