Knicks · Anti Islam film (page 1)

I have to say WTF? Why is it that Americans are guilty of anything? People have to die because an idiot made an absurd low budget film that was only played on youtube? How many of these rioters even witnessed the film or know anything behind it. Its an excuse to show some true colors!!!
mrKnickShot @ 9/14/2012 2:18 PM
I could just imagine what would have been if it was a high budget film.

It was designed for exactly the effect that it had. Definitely a conspiracy theorist. Expect more of the same.

Pretty ridiculous. A very low budget film with poor acting, crude special effects, poor dialogue and editing. Of course the film was in bad taste and any mocking of their prophet and religion is no doubt inciteful and cause for some outrage. But to kill innocent US Diplomats who have no part in the production of the film is just a travesty and should be total embarassment to those Islamic nations, and further fuel "Terrorist stereotypes" and Anti-Muslim sentiment. What's even more ironic is the film maker is in fact Egyptian.

+1

The producer said he felt absolutely no regret that those people got killed because of this film. Shows that this kind of mindset isn't restricted to the middle east, or to Muslims.

Edit: turns out that this attack was apparently planned before the film but the producer didn't know that at the time. Also it was the consultant to the film, a right wing Christian, not the producer who made those comments.

nyvector16 @ 9/14/2012 4:54 PM
The Attack in Libya was preplanned.. The chaos ensuing across the other 10+ countries is completely due to the movie.

The only purpose of the movie was to stir up trouble in the Middle East and have Obama take the blame on the unrest, deaths, etc.. etc...
The movie is an election year gimmick by callous & calculating evil people to try and help bring down the president.

loweyecue @ 9/14/2012 5:11 PM
Briggs, people outside the US, especially in places like the middle east, where they are hanging on day by day for dear life amidst all kinds of violence, couldn't give a rats ass about the distinction between American film makers and American Govt. to them we are just Americans. All treated as the same seething mass of anti Islamic hatred. It is easy to incite violent reactions in a situation like this that is rife with stres, panic and vitriol. The killing was probably non related but the unrest and violence is a result of the movie.

This was calculated move to cause this and an act of extreme cowardice.

nixluva @ 9/14/2012 5:20 PM
OK this is what so many seem to not understand. In many of these countries they don't have freedom of speech and films that are created would be censored if they weren't approved by the ruling government. This means that in the minds of those in these countries they would assume that the U.S. government APPROVED of this film being released. They do not understand how freedom of speech actually works here because they don't all have that level of freedom of expression.

Now this allows those who want to foment hatred of the U.S. an easy way of just hyping up anything that some idiot creates and making it seem like it's an American point of view and that's really going to be hard to fight against. These are people who for decades have had nothing but anti American propaganda drummed into their heads and so it's easy for them to believe just about anything that is said about the U.S. attitudes against Islam. There's such a difference in culture that you can't put yourself in their place and understand how they think in those parts of the world.

Great comments Nix and loweyecue. Also have to remember that we financed what would end up being AQ when they were fighting the Russian occupation of Afghanistan, even gave them stinger missles.

Yes indeedy. Glad to see that not all the wingnut conspiracy theorists live on the left right. Corrected.

Funny, I wonder what the comments would be if all this had happened oh, say 6 years ago. Hmmmmmmmmmmm...

Hey, I forget, what low budget film precipitated 911? Or Timothy McVeigh?

Militant Islam or Militant Christianity or Militant Anti-Amish or any type of Militant Idoicy doesn't need an excuse.

The excuse is only important to the talking heads who need something to spin and get all us TV grunts who are still around to try and make sense out of senseless violence.

Love the neverending victim mentality comments too.

nykshaknbake @ 9/15/2012 2:18 AM
Doubtful that the end game of the video was evil people coming out of the caves to sully the name of Obama. That's a pretty serious charge that I would think you'd want some evidence for before putting that out as fact.

People make stupid and offensive videos all the time. The victims of these videos include people from all cultures and walks of faith. It's only with this set of people that it causes homicidal rage against anything or anyone peripherally related to the makers.

The question I have is...

Why do people have to die over a movie?

Why can't these groups of people be civil about things?

JamesKPolk wrote:The question I have is...

Short answer: deep down hatred for American and Isreali governments.

Their hatred towards both governments is not all without reasons. Without searching wiki, how many of you know the Iraqi casualty count for 2003 Iraq War?

Remember the biggest reasons Bush gave for invading that country? 1. Saddam had WMD's. 2. Sadadm was financing Bin Ladin. As it turned out, they were all lies.

What else gave US the right to invade another country? Free the Iraqi people? Throughout Iraq 3000+ year history, Iraqi people were under authoritarianism government or dictatorship. What gave the right of US government to bully and force feed democracy upon another country? Democracy is great for some but it may not be best for others.

Iran is another Muslim country who has pure hatred towards US and Isreal. Do you know just about every Iranian nuclear scientists had been assassinated in the few years, not to mention five Russian nuclear scientists who help Iran died on a plane crash last year? Google and you will be surprised that you had never heard of the news.

WikiLeak had it over 175,000 Iraqis. That's the casualty count for the Iraqis War. Almost 60 Iraqis for every life lost during 911. Decade later, Americans still morn the deaths of 911 but not one remembered the deaths of 175,000 caused by the blunder of Bush government. The video of Apache trigger happy gunner who shot down unarmed Iraqis and children, the pissing of US soldiers on the corpse, tearing of koran, torture and mockering of Iraqi prisoners in Iraq, and pictures from Guantanamo Bay...the list goes one and on.

It's more than just an anti muslim film that caused the recent event in the middle east. It only became a tipping point of their hatred for American.

Vmart @ 9/15/2012 10:06 AM
That's religion for you. Biggest cause of death for humanity.

Half of my family are from and live in Egypt- to be honest, the extent of anti-American feeling in the middle east gets over reported- I'd say the majority are either pro American or largely uninterested in America (most people don't think about America at all during their day outside of movies and tv- why would they?).

The problem is mainly the extent to which the minority resort to violence and are stirred up by people who gain power and standing be the bloodshed that follows- and that's not a problem unique to the middle east- plenty of Americans were ready to go guns blazing to kill any random people in the middle east after 9/11.

I never really get why people can't just disagree or get p***ed off when someone insults their belief- why switch to kill mode? But like I said, it seems to be a universal human trait, and I'm sure if some Christains in America felt that they're religion was under attack, would behave the same if stirred up by their preachers.

It's always the same problem everywhere. If the majority doesn't step up to set the record straight the minority gets away with their extreme agenda. And after a while they are no longer the minority anymore. Just look at the infiltartion of the GOP by the TEA party. In times like this if the majority wants to be treated differently from the vocal, activist, hate mongering minority they need to actually DO something to make that difference clear. It is always a small handful of people who benefit from Hate and it is upto everyone else t see that they don't.

nykshaknbake @ 9/15/2012 8:13 PM
Sometimes the Tea Party can be a bit out there but there really is no comparison here. It would be like comparing OWS to the rioters in the Middle East. Since some of the OWS did turn violent it probably is a more apt comparison but that comparison(rightly so) would get you pretty upset becuase it wouldn't be fair.
