If ARod=Melo, then Raul is Novak?

Boston might have the Celtics and Pats, LA has the Lakers, thank goodness we have the Yankees and Giants!

+1

Yanks are not going anywhere without Arod. I think at worst he'll be moved down to the 5-6 hole tonight.

Why not? They did well all year even though he was a mediocre hitter. You gotta play the best players. Against a lefty (like tonight), he should be playing though.

What an awesome win!! And, Ibanez gave a great, classy interview.

actually not, A-rod has a ring and a few MVP's in his trophy case...... but I understand where you were trying to go... problem is, during his prime A-rod was pretty much clear cut, the best player in the game for some years... or at least viewed that way..

yea, I was pissed when A-rod opted out.. I didn't want the yankees to match... but oh well...

Melo is comparable to every hall-of-famer in every sport who has ever been criticized.

Why do people need to hate Arod and equate it with Melo hate?
The guy redeemed his Yankee career in '09. Live with that. He's got a ring, remember?
Sorry the fooker makes too much money for your effete, left wing tastes.

RAUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLL SOOOOOOOOO COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!

Can't thank you enough, Philadelphia Phillies!

Anger should be directed at Hank and Hal for giving A-Rod the absurd contract. A-Rod simply took the money - we all would have.

And Arod even got rid of his agent in the process! That should at least count for something! [Not sure what, but hey!]

And gee, let's look at the tape of last night...who's the first guy running out of the dugout to congratulate Ibanez??? Why, that looks like MeloRod, doesn't it?

NY Fandom, the wet blankets of the universe.

Edit: I'm removing my post about Melo because the purpose of this thread is to celebrate Ibanez.
I think it would be better not to drag Melo into this thread. Maybe you can find a way to resist your impulse to bring him into every thread, JROD?

BONN, maybe you could resist the urge not to read through the thread before commenting on my impulses?

My comment applied to MrK too, although he wasn't going on and on like you were. I mean, even when we're talking about a different sport, you gotta drag Melo in. You even create a new nickname for Melo in a thread that's about a different sport.

Yup, definite admin mascot material.

And you've now mentioned him more than I have. So there.

So does Joe get tempted to try CC on short rest? Or just bring Lowe out of the pen the second Hughes gets shaky?

Pot-Kettle black? We went through that all summer when you guys kept telling us threads mentioning the Nets were not allowed.

My god, now you're bringing that into a Raul Ibanez thread!

Have you no sense of decency?

I agree...NOT THE same with me.... A-rod came with a lot of hype, but he had the numbers and resume to back it up.... he came had a huge series vs the twins in 09, helped us with a ring, he also won a couple of MVP's with the yankees.. he was as advertised.... a big time star... but he also came off as a prick.. he had a lot of growing up to do and has done a good job so far... but not every franchise can be blessed with a team leader like jeter to keep fools in line..

carmelo has been the complete opposite and really hasn't been worth the cost.. seriously no hate here, just how I feel...

actually A-rod was huge in the ALDS pretty much saved that series, but the 2009 WS, which was his first, Matsui was the MVP, not A-rod and it could have also gone to jeter who was huge in that WS as well...

Your right, but he hit some clutch HR during the post season..bottom line, he's going to have to get focus, bmore should not be taking lightly by any stretch..i live in MD been paying attention to them all season long..thing is, yankees have been able to stiff armed them all season long in the standings..

yankees pitching has been great..we should have swept..petit didn't deserve that L

oh yea, what ibanez did was absolutely amazing, but to win the series again, we are going to need A-rod to hit.. plain and simple...

gunsnewing @ 10/11/2012 12:48 PM
Arod still hits lefties. I would hit him 3rd tonight then hit him down in the order against righties. I would do the same next year despite him make a ridiculous $30mil per yr. Yankees gave him by far the worst contract in the history of professional sports

Hopefully Stat = Ibanez - which would mean that he actually plays AND CONTRIBUTES in the playoffs (for the knicks)

Yeah, I was all about Miguel Cabrera at the time and I still think the Yanks should have gotten him. A-Rod came to the Yanks with his little contrite act after the token firing of Boras to make them happy and they at it up like a dog eating poop...all to happily and shamelessly. Never been an A-Rod fan and never will be. For he's a footnote Yankee for me, not in the class of core four, Bernie, Donnie, Winfield, all the guys from the late '70s championship teams, and more.

Undoubtedly a great player, but also and brazen liar and unremorseful cheat. That said, he's going to end his career as a Yank because no one taking on the contract and he's already lost tons of ability (every stat is down and he's hurt a lot).

Loved Raul's tying run and said to the wife wouldn't in cool if he hit another and BAMM!!! Great baseball.

grillco @ 10/11/2012 2:10 PM
The Yanks get everything out of their veteran acquisitions that the Knicks can't. Great play and leading by example for a season or two and then a graceful departure. Hopefully that'll change for the Knicks, but right now RAH-OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL is a monster.

Now whoever makes a baseball thread in the Knick forum is an idiot.
