I give the Nets credit. We needed help at the 4-5 and our decisions 2 sign Kurt Thomas Rasheed wallace and Marcus Camby to a combined 6mm in contracts for this year now looks absurd. We couldve offered him a 2 year 4mm $ deal with a team 3 year option and has him for 1/3 rd and he will produce more than the three of them combined. The one complaint I have with the Knicks is we tried too desperately to get vets--to the point that we sacrificed common sense.
From all I read, Blatche antics were just over the top...He was destroying the Wizards' locker room...The Nets has to take bigger risk than the Knicks to get their show on the road...The Knicks don't need the distraction...Blache has huge off the court issues...He needs to mature, maybe the Nets can help...Brooklyn is a dicey destination for that...
Blatche, JR and Melo out on the town? Ouch!
JKidd the designated driver?
Blatche would never see the court in New York. We are in "win now" mode with second rate stars

I'm pretty sure he will see the court in NY:)
Briggs is right and in either locker room I think he would be just fine. We don't know the level of interest on the knicks really had or if they wanted to deal with his personality issues. The guy knows he is being evaluated and does not have a long leash.
its never been an issue of his talent.
I think 2nd to jjohnson...blatche will be their biggest addition...he just needed a change of scenery
Why are you including Sheed(vet min) and Kurt Thomas(throw in w/Felton). The knick's only had the vet min to offer Blatche and he wanted more of a role than he would get when Amar'e and Camby are back in the line up. I liked Blatche too but what can you do when you do not have the money.
While I don't think Blatche would have been good for chemistry its interesting that a guy that can score the ball and rebound could have been had on a 2 year deal. It looks very foolish when you bring in two guys 38 years old on three year deals.
The Knicks made a great signing with Brewer the same way the Nets grabbed Watson, Evans and Blatche for virtually nothing.

I thought Brewer was the Knicks best move

You have to think about it from Blatche's perspective too. He had more of an opportunity to start in NJ over Humphries than he did in NY. Also, with Lopez's tendency to get hurt, Blatche is guaranteed major minutes at center and opportunity to show that he has turned it around. Blatche is still young. I think Blatche signing with the Nets had more to do with opportunity than anything else.
Man I fully understand the Knicks wanting to go for vet bigs that are known for their D. Screw Blatche and his sometimey game. Dude doesn't bring it every night and he doesn't play a lick of D either. We don't need another guy like that off the bench. We've done enough of that in the past. This Knicks team has gone all in with guys that know how to win. What the hell has Blatche ever won? Dude knows nothing about what it takes to win.
I think the Knicks first choice is Kmart, and they would cut Wallace if he signed today.
Kmart for the vet would a better fit than Blatch.
Blatch is terrible. Have we learned nothing about bringing in players who dont want to work and hope they work here?
This is easy to understand....
Blatche is not a Woodson type player.
Kurt, Camby, Kidd and Wallace are.....
It's that simple!
We don't have to coach these clowns....But Woodson does!

BroPez has had one major injury. He played 280 games straight prior. Knicks already commited to others so bringing him in after that makes no sense. He can play two positions. As BroPez gets back into the game Blatch can get good minutes. Its also important that Bropez to play better defense take some gambles which could land him in foul trouble. Remember, these soft bigs with a real good offensive game need to be on the court and their teams need them. They give up some defense to do this. if they are on the bench in foul trouble they are useless. Blatch has the game. He has never been pushed or when he has he was immature and pushed back. Is he ready to move ahead? We'll just have to see.

Why is this post being ignored? Pretty much closes the thread.

What is Blatch getting paid now? I thought it was pretty much a vet min deal.

briggs in the new carmelo era knicks have no interest in guys like Blatche. a talented (but knuckleheaded) player with a lot of skills.. would require having the ball in his hands sometimes... but the problem is, as ewing said the other night... there are very few shots left after carmelo and amare, so everyone else just needs to rebound and defense.. this is how all teams that try to build around carmelo are formed.. and when they fail, people cry he has no help... so we need to get out of our heads getting guys like that the next few years... guys like Brewer and old guys who won't need shots are the kinds of players we will be getting....

yea, as I said, blatche is a knuckle head, but guys can mature... just won't happen here in NY.. over the next few years we can forget finding any gems, espeically if they are guys who happen to be good offensive players..
fishmike wrote:Blatch is terrible. Have we learned nothing about bringing in players who dont want to work and hope they work here?
but on the cheap fish, this is a high reward, low risk type of guy.... heck we have JR smith, we can give anyone a chance if we gave him one..
