This is just humor right?
How the heck are they gonna get rid of him? It would be like trading arod - IMPOSSIBLE.
I was thinking the same thing. With his contract he isn't going anywhere.
NYKMentality wrote:We're talking about trading Stoudemire before Melo and Stoudemire has ever had a full season together? Laughable. Stoudemire promised us Parker and Melo during his first interview as a Knick. Instead, we landed Chandler and Melo. We've made the playoffs during consecutive seasons since the addition of Stoudemire and now we're featuring our strongest team yet. The man changed the culture of our franchise during the 2010-2011 season. Carried our team and franchise on his back to the playoffs. Set an all-time Knicks franchise record for most consecutive games of 30+ points. Felton and Stoudemire FEASTED together. Felton had a career year averaging I believe 17 points and 9 assists per game (due to Stoudemire's presence). And we're now talking about running Amar'e out of town? Pathetic to say the least.
Yes, Stoudemire is currently recovering from an injury but that doesn't change the fact that Stoudemire worked out with Hakeem during the entire offseason, focused as ever, and is in great physical shape/condition and had a GREAT preseason game here in 2012-2013. Put up 18 points off 8-11 shooting. Was explosive with his jumping ability. 5 boards and 1 block. Then, he needed surgery to remove a cyst.
He's also stated that he'd be good with coming off the bench as a true teammate.
PG: Kidd.
2G: J.R Smith.
SF: Novak / Brewer.
PF: Stoudemire
C: marcus Camby.
Along with guys such as Pablo, Rasheed and Kurt Thomas.
As a starter?
C: Tyson Chandler.
PF: Amar'e Stoudemire.
SF: Carmelo Anthony.
2G: Iman Shumpert.
PG: Raymond Felton.
Bench would then become amazing with Kidd, Pablo, J.R, Novak, Brewer, Kurt, Rasheed and Camby all coming off the bench.
Yeah, I agree. You cannot even think about trading Amare until you see what he does with Melo and some better pgs. If he is willing to come off the back and stabilize our second unit, we would have the deepest team in the league by a WIDE margin. I think the guy still has 2 good years left in him, and we are going to need him come playoff time. Plus, after next season, his contract will be very attractive to teams trying to free up cap space. We should have no problem trading him for a solid player then.
I read some comments from Raptors fans that wanted to do an Amare for Bargnani/Calderon trade. If Toronto were to make that offer we'd have to take a long hard look at it.
Team is definitely in their groove without Amare. I guarantee the front office has taken notice and will be shopping Amare heavy for anything.
Uh no. Team is grooving because guys know their roles.
Melo is the man and the offense runs through him.
Amare is a goner. How many seasons has he been healthy for the playoffs since we signed him? Zero.
Grunwald didn't bring Amare here. I doubt he will have any issues shipping him and his 20 million per year out if town.
AnubisADL wrote:I doubt he will have any issues shipping him and his 20 million per year out if town.
He will have all sorts of issues shipping Amare out.
Lets hope that being that he must stay, he can stay healthy.

Not if Amare plays great..........but if plays great, might as well keep him until the summer.

Bargs and Calderon are not good! They are not tough minded players. They do not bring real experience to the table other than losing. No thanks. The Knicks need more rebounding and shot blocking and defense NOT less of it.
Let him at least play 10 games with this team. I have a really good feeling about Amare running with this Knick team coached by Woodson.

I'll point out that Amare is a mediocre rebounder and a terrible defender. Bargnani is a pretty good offensive player who probably fits with Melo and Tyson better than Amare. And Calderon fits very well as backup PG. I know some people here really like Prigioni but I've seen nothing from him and Calderon is a good option to plug in when Felton is in one of his funks.
I'd like to get Calderon. Bargs is the worst rebounding center in the game. I'd do this deal only if Bargs were going to be the 12th man. I don't want him on the court.
Amare is going anywhere except back to the starting lineup.

Amar'e grabs more rebounds than Calderon and Barg's combined (career averages). Amar'e probably blocks more shots than those two combined as well. Amar'e has playoff experience (conference finals). Amar'e has dominated playoff series. Amar'e is tough. I can't believe anyone would want Barg's / Calderon over Amar'e. WOW!
The grass is not always greener and Amar'e is better than those two players, easily.

I'm not saying he isn't. My question is does he fit with the team, especially offensively, and is he even going to be healthy?
Lol at people being choosy.
Calderon is an expiring contract and Bargnani has 2 additional years at 11 million per.
Do people forget how terrible Amare looked last year? Guy had like no lift around the rim.
You dump Amare for whatever warm body you can get.

Cant grab boards or score on the Inactive list. Im just saying.
I doubt we could get Bargnani anyway.

And the thing about Bargs versus Amare isn't pure stats. If Bargs adds to Melo more than Amare it would be better, but I still want to see what Stats brings.

Amar'e did 18 & 8 on like 49% fg with 1 block last year. He was terrible, really?!?! Bargs shoots 44% for his career and is shooting below 40% this year. Bargs averages 4 boards this year. Bargs is not good. We have Kidd and Felton and Prigi with Shumpert on his way back in Jan. Why would we need Calderon?
As for being choosy, I don't even think Amar'e should be traded. Players get injured all the time. Amar'e has done far more good than bad and he should not be sent anywhere.
It's not like this trade would ever happen so I will just leave this alone.

Also, it takes a while to come back from Back injuries ask Howard. Amar'e will fit right in.
AnubisADL wrote:Team is definitely in their groove without Amare. I guarantee the front office has taken notice and will be shopping Amare heavy for anything.
I'll agree to disagree.
This team isn't grooving because Stoudemire "isn't here", this team is competing (and winning) due to the likes of coach Woodson, Felton, Kidd, J.R Smith, Brewer, Novak, Melo, Rasheed and Tyson Chandler. Even the likes of Pablo and Kurt Thomas have contributed. That's why this team grooving, not because we're "without Amar'e Stoudemire" ala one of our best offensive talents.
Not once during Stoudemire's career has he ever been surrounded by this much overall talent. Surround Amar'e with this much talent? And the sky could then become our limit. Stoudemire also feasted with Raymond Felton as our PG back in only 2010-2011. Felton also feasted with Amar'e ala setting a career high in both points per game (17.1) along with assists per game (9.0). Stoudemire himself also set a franchise record for most consecutive games of 30+ points. Felton and Stoudemire feasted as a duo.
Then you add veteran PG's such as Pablo and especially Jason Kidd working with Stoudemire? It's a wrap. If Amar'e can remain healthy, he'll become a freak of nature down low. We also have defensive BIG's as Kurt Thomas, Rasheed Wallace, Marcus Camby and Tyson Chandler who can protect Stoudemire on the defensive end.
But then again, these are just my thoughts...
