The Amare signing crippled this franchise.

Walsh hired MDA instead of Thibodeau also, who has done more with less than any coach. If we were going to stink for 3+ years, Mark Jackson could've filled that void also.

I cant argue with that. However in the summer of 2010 we missed out on every other big FA and i guarantee our fans wouldnt be happy if we didnt sign any all-stars after clearing out cap soace for 2 years

“It just came down to, we do it or we don’t,” Walsh said.Being that it came down to "we do it", Walsh not Dolan made the call to include the additional players, did he not? He says he did - is he reputable?
So, does he not share in the blame? He certainly overpaid even if he "did not like the deal" - which can either be referring to all the players or trading for him in general.
GO on what you know. The deal was going no where and Nets had an offer on the table most likely satisfactory to Melo. It was NYC and max money. Denver was getting what it wanted.
Dolan wanted Melo and Im going to guess instructed Donnie to get it done. Its the GM's job. He files the paperwork and deals with the contracts, lawyers etc. So yeah, he made the call.
He then wanted out. He did not like the deal. For what its worth Stern forced DOnnie on Dolan and Donnie was cooked here. Im going to guess it was mutual departure. But If Donnie wanted to stay he could have.
There is plenty to read about so make your own conclusions.

There was obvious dissent but that does not exonerate him from all blame. We know that Dolan is a jerk and what he wanted but from what I extrapolated from the article was that once Walsh/Dolan decided to make the/a deal, he decided to overpay.
There is partial blame here even though it is accompanied by an asterisk.

Blame is over rated. Donnie manned up. Most don't. Isiah tried to kill himself and Layden is the assistant GM in San Antoino.
Think They are grooming him to be successor? Layden will be a superstar GM and we'll faint!
Donnie takes blame. Donnie don't care, he's golden.

Dolan was/is awful but that can be a complete blame deflector.
The Ewing era was not run to well either.

In hindsight no.
But your NY and you have to make a run at Lebron.
Its not about who, its about why. ITs about why this franchise is dysfuncional. ITs about why you can bring in good talent and screw it up. Bring in false prophets or defective ones. Bring in Great coaching minds but give them the wrong roster (larry brown, MDA), about cleaing up bad contracts for cap space but then not getting who you want, ETC ETC.
BLame Layden, but what good does that do. Fire Chaney, and nothing happens. Botch negotiations with Fratello and end up with Wilkens? Build a team around Marbles? Bring in a very good coash (MDA) and the wrong guys to run his offnese? Then when you get things going you trade 4 starters for Melo? Etc, etc.
Why does fault matter anymore? Team lacks leadership and a vision.
Dolan heads the organization. Its not like he brings in bad people. He the figurehead of the organization. The record speaks for itself. "BLAME HAS NO VOICE"!

You're honestly telling me James Dolan is in the war room in June making the picks? I severely doubt it. Too much homework involved, not enough guesswork! ![]()
If that's the case, bravo on Iman Shumpert, Dolan! Great pick. Finished 5th in Rookie of the Year voting!
On the Dolan issue. He is the sole reason our gm's can't rebuild properly, Like I said earlier Dolan pressures them into making bad trades at the expense of young talent and picks in order to get the fair weather fans in the seats and create a buzz with players who have bloated contracts and are castoffs. In 30yrs when Dolan's health dissipates the Knicks might be able to build a true title contender.
Dolan is the reason the Knicks have been given the moniker "Clumsy"

Back in 2009 i thought we would get wade and lebron since we were finally clearing cap space and i thought after all the years of suffering we were gonna be a top team again. Obviously since im a mets/jets/knicks fan i never seem to have good luck lol
