Well the Rockets were playing the MIGHTY ORLANDO MAGIC....that could be part of the reason. I think the biggest news concerning the Rockets picking up Aaron Brooks off waivers. The same Brooks who ate the Lakers alive in the playoffs during their last go round Yao Ming era.

Aaron Brooks will sign with the Houston Rockets assuming he clears waivers as expected, according to sources.

Brooks will be eligible for the postseason.

Brooks signed a two-year, $6.6 million deal with the Kings last offseason.

Brooks was previously a member of the Rockets before a 2011 trade sent him to the Phoenix Suns for Goran Dragic.

Yeah I posted that on the bench thread last night. I wonder if they keep him after this year. It sounds like both sides wanted him in Houston. I also think Houston is piling up assets so they can do a sign and trade for d12 if it presents itself. Brooks will be on their playoff roster if they make it.

NYKMentality wrote:I was wrong about Denver's team (last night that is) but it still doesn't change the fact that Gallo cracks under pressure of elite opponents/teams.

Let's be honest here, it's not about Anthony Randolph, Eddy Curry, Wilson Chandler and/or Mozgov, but instead? This whole Denver love fest came from landing Melo in replace of their little Gallo. That's what it boils down.

And it's weird how fans such as TKF (and a few others around here) talk up Gallo in order to harp all over Melo 24/7, but yet, no mention of Gallo's performance last night (or lack thereof)? Nothing can top Gall's awful game 7 playoff performance in which he single handedly eliminated his Denver teammates from the postseason due to going 1/9 with only 3 points and 4 turnovers during a game 7 with the pressure on. He cracked under pressure.

But last night? Pretty damn pathetic. 2/7 shooting with only 7 points, 2 boards, 1 block, 1 steal and ZERO assists. God forbid a specific Knick put up this type of laughing stock joke of basketball production, some of these Denver Gallo lovers and or Melo/Knick critics would have a blast despite our Knicks winning a ball game.

90% of what you type is inaccurate and the other 10% has zero value

First of all while Gallo was appreciated by a respectable amount of this fan base those that took issue with the trade were upset at so many facets of the trade SANS Gallo...

The picks
Throwing in Mozgov for no reason
Waiving Brewer
Eliminating Our Depth
Complicating Our Cap
Handicapping Our Future
Providing Denver an easy avenue to Rebuild instantaneously, maintain their level of competitiveness, and set them up with a bright future while we toiled for yrs to put a competitive team together with a short window

I'd still be pissed off had we swapped Fields or our 2011 pick in the trade instead of Gallo

I've always maintained that Gallo has been and still to this day in some respects an overrated player but he has value on a winning team. I don't think the stats or game impact would reflect too differently if Chandler started or even Brew in place of Gallo. Gallo is a unique player though he can do many things well on any given night and he has a CLUTCH GENE...but yes he's still very inconsistent in sustainable HIGH LEVEL of play so are plenty All-Star Caliber players if looked at closely.

You said he cracks under pressure against good teams.... well

he has performed well at the Garden since becoming a Nugget,

he dropped 27 on the Pacers and Rockets and 26 on Utah,

he dropped 39 on Dallas,

he's beat Portland in the Clutch,

he's beat Memphis in the Clutch,

he's beat the Lakers in the Clutch,

he's beat the Warriors in the Clutch,

he's beat the Spurs in the Clutch dropped 28,

he came close against the Celtics in the Clutch(lost in D-OT)...all of these practically playoff teams

So what this boils down to along with a couple other posters as some do with me....have an axe to grind with TKF. Your posting is centered around going at him....

I don't think The Rockets are trying for D-12 as much as some think they are. They have enough Cap Space to sign a significant "FOUNDATIONAL PIECE" outright. I think he's amassing assets for whatever opportunity presents itself, as any innovative quick thinking smart GM would do.

There isn't much in "FOUNDATION PIECE'S" out there this summer with the exception of Chris Paul if he doesn't resign with the LAC. Couldn't see the Rockets going after him anyway. Josh Smith is iffy at best but he may be a good fit. Pickings are slim this summer.

Harden was going somwhere once he declined OKC's offer. Good job on landing him. Considering that they're set at SG and should be set at C and PG it pretty much leaves SF and PF as the positions to upgrade. Any of the players from above will suffice but I don't think from the above any is going to get Houston to the next level let alone change the landscape out West.

Beleive it or not moving Amare this summer can be done but probably easier to move after next season. Although a shell of his former self he's played well thus far.

That didn't happen until October and no one really figured OKC to let Harden go but Morey had been working on a deal diligently since the early part of the summer. This is the point you're not grasping. Had Morey been more Playstation in GM operation he'd have no chance at landing Harden but instead would have ended up with Chris Kaman/Jerryd Bayless/Lowry and Anthony Randolph....while not overall bad in a hypothetical asset acquisition you see the point?

The Lakers and eventually the Spurs will fade.... the landscape is already changing naturally irregardless of the Rockets are doing.

If Morey plays his cards right with the list above it can get them right there knocking on the door of Chip Material.

Even if we move Amar'e this summer it puts us no closer to CONTENTION for whatever we get in return. Meanwhile Rockets can facilitate moves putting them closer to CONTENTION and sustain it for yrs to come no shrinking window. They'll also have a continuance in tradeable assets as they will be one of the better teams with pieces teams covet

Please Take Whatever Meds Necessary To Get Righteous

GREAT POST 3g, you hit the nail on the head.. the guy has a hard on for TKF....LOL.... really I came in and mentioned that Denver won, Lawson hit a big shot, and chandler played a great game... why should I mention gallo? LOL... I like Denver as a team, that includes guys like chandler and lawson...It doesn't matter if gallo doesn't have a great game or not.. that is the difference.... unlike this dude, carmelo can go 2-25 and he will talk about what a great decoy carmelo was..LOL..

and thanks for blowing his post to pieces.... LOL.. gallo cracks under pressure of elite teams.. I mean how many elite teams are there? LOL..

Great shot from Lawson but if I were a true Denver critic (learn from the best) I'd state how Westbrook flat out destroyed Lawson during the entire game. I guess a game winner changes that for Lawson. Durant is a pure fire NBA star, and flat out destroyed Gallo at the SF position. Just as I predicted. I may have been wrong about Denver as a team tonight, but I was damn right about Gallo. The guy didn't even show up tonight fellas. Almost as bad as game 7 of last years first round exit. 2/7 shooting with only 7 points? Only 2 boards? Pathetic. 0 assists, 1 steal and 1 block? Laughable. God forbid a specific Knick performed this poorly? Even during a Knicks win? Forget about it...

Denver as a team? Kept it much closer than I expected. Still can't win on the road. 13-19 road record? Weak minded road team.

Dude just quit. We're NBA fans on here, not just about the home team.

You stated earlier yesterday, you thought there would be no chance and you wanted to see what they do against a "real team".

welp, they beat the "real team", now you're crying what they can't do on the road.

Who cares? What's worst is you're just like the folks who constantly diss the Knicks, you're just on the other side of the spectrum, it's just as bad.

That

The biggest contribution for the Rockets might have been from guard Patrick Beverley, who scored 10 of his 13 points in the fourth, to go along with three steals.

WOW, Lin's minutes are going to go way down.

I don't think so. They just needed a 3rd PG with TD gone. Just good management.

Brooks is pretty good. I think he splits minutes with Lin once he becomes adjusted to the Rockets.

Unless you think Beverley will be the 3rd string or Lin going to 3rd string then Brooks is not seeing any action anytime soon. McHale only plays 2 PGs a game. It's the starting PG and his backup all the time. When TD was there he played or Beverley played. Not all 3.

Brooks can play the 2 as well and is a better player than Lin. Just a matter of time before he takes over.

With all due respect I don't see that happening.

I like Brooks but think he's more of an instant offense guy off the bench like Lou Williams than a starting caliber PG.

Houston invested a lot of $ in Lin who is 3 years younger, 3 inches taller and has that sexy Potential to get better. I feel like Brooks peaked during that monster year he had in 2009 under Adelman.

They'll probably battle like hell in practice. The Rockets have finished 9th 3 seasons in a row. If that were to happen again this season with the Lakers taking their spot. Ouch

Brooks averaged 19 and 5 on a winning team not that long ago in Houston under Adelman. McHale has Lin splitting minutes with Beverly and Douglas. Depending on how Brooks is used he could end up sharing or overtaking Lin. I agree that Houston invested a lot in Lin. I think Morey is opportunistic and will win however he can. I think he is more interested in winning and acquiring stars as opposed to developing and grooming guys.

That's the season I was referring to. He won MIP and the Rockets finished 4 games above .500 and just barely missed the playoffs in a very competitive Western Conference.
I don't hate Aaron Brooks or anything but the Rockets already have enough problems on defense with Lin (who is a surprisingly solid defender) that might be exacerated if you stick Brooks in the starting lineup.

Just read this

The bigger point: If you're a big-market contender, you can't lose an asset for absolutely nothing. Just sell the team at that point. Why even own it? You're gonna sweat out the luxury tax every year when you're in Chicago, the third-biggest TV market in America and a city that could absolutely support two professional basketball teams?

This was Bill Simmons re: Omer Asik. Kind of could say the same about the Knicks and Lin although Asik is having a monster season.

As Knick fans, who would you all rather see lose tonight, the Chicago Bulls or the Brooklyn Nets, and why?

Brooklyn: 34-25.
Chicago: 33-25.

Only 1/2 a game separates these two teams from the 5th/6th seeds.

The question is this, after tonight, would you rather see our Knicks...

A.) 2.5 games ahead of Brooklyn / 4.0 games ahead of Chicago.
or
B.) 3.0 games ahead of Chicago / 3.5 games ahead of Brooklyn.

If you selected A.) You're pulling for a Brooklyn win tonight.
If you selected B.) You're pulling for a Chicago win tonight.

The reason why I'm going for B.) and pulling for a Chicago win, is because I feel that Brooklyn's schedule is much easier than both the Knicks and Bulls during our next 10 games. While the Knicks and Bulls fight it out, the Nets do have a chance to gain lots of ground. Due to that, I'd like to see Brooklyn take a loss tonight.

Nets:
@ Chicago.
@ Charlotte.
vs. Washington.
@ Atlanta.
@ Philly.
vs. New Orleans.
vs. Atlanta.
@ Detroit.
@ Dallas.
@ Los Angeles Clippers

Bulls:
vs. Brooklyn.
@ Indy.
@ San Antonio.
vs. Utah.
@ Los Angeles Clippers.
@ Sacramento.
@ Golden State.
vs. Denver.
vs. Portland.
vs. Indy.

The difference in strength of schedule is insane moving forward during these next 10 games in regards to Chicago/Brooklyn. Brooklyn will only see 4 teams with above .500 winning records when compared to Chicago matchup up against 8 teams with above .500 records. Brooklyn will have 3 home games along with 7 away games when compared to Chicago having 5 home games along with 5 away games.
