Knicks · Carmelo Anthony's MVP Season and the New York Knicks (page 25)
jrodmc wrote:It's not going to happen. The nitpicking will continue, along with the out and out hate.Maybe Melo reads these threads and uses them for motivation.
Raymond Felton said it all: “Carmelo has just been a great leader, on the court, off the court, just sacrificing whatever for us to win. He’s been giving up his body, he’s been playing defense. Everybody knows he can score, but he’s been doing all the little things to help this team win.’’
Essentially, there are posters here who want to see this Knick team lose and fail so they can pound their chests and get some sort of false confirmation regarding their belief that Melo is some kind of cancer, born loser, terrible, a bad person, etc. The Knicks are winning and this is obviously making some so called Knick fans uneasy... Melo is being mentioned as a possible MVP and this is like kryptonite to superman for some members of this board. You have posters who think two games over .500 (with the ex-knicks) is a sign of great things to come but but 9 - 3 is false hope and/or not winning the right way. It is what it is. There is no logical discussion to be had with unreasonable people.

+1
The funny thing is, they don't even need to wait for the Knicks to lose. They can pine away while we play .750 ball in a season where we actually kicked things off by beating the Heat. SMH.
I had a business law prof who told us to never get down on those who slept through class. "Don't forget; they are performing a valuable service to those of you who actually care..."

I'm not sure who you're talking about but I predicted this would be at least a .600 team. If the team loses lots of games, I'd be wrong.

I am referring to people that continue to say this team does not win the right way and/or that the wins are fools gold. The Knicks are highly ranked in regards to defense and offense. I am not sure how playing defense and being efficient on offense with low turnovers is not winning the right way. These also happen to be some of the people claiming that this season is a failure if the Knicks do not win a championship.

OK, I guess you don't want to say who it is. I assume TKF is one of them.

I am tired of this debate in general. The only think I am thinking about right now, in regards to the Knicks, is the Nets game tonight.

We make too many threes! Ask anyone in the league; making too high a percentage of threes is a sure way to loserville.
Trading away our future (since we've got such a great draft history since '85) of course relegates us to the scrap heap of the NBA if we don't win it all! Who the F wants to watch playoff basketball, anyway? *Stamps feet* I demand chip satisfaction NOW!!!
Sing with me:
This team was not built the right way!
This team does not play the right way!
This team is not coached the right way!
This team is not managed the right way!
This team does not win the right way!
This team does not lose the right way!

no one says that at all.. that is a strawman argument.. I think the detractors didn't like the way the team was built, and for the record myself and a few other detractors said this team would win between 43-45 games.. so no one predicted losses.. the problem we have is that the ceiling for this team is not championship level, therefore the moves we made were just mismanaged, from a personnel stand point, as well as financial..
so while you can pretend that myself and others are saying the things you are quoting which is untrue, and honestly you have been doing that for sometime now... Our position has been well documented.. You don't like it fine.. but it has been well documented and well defended.... it is not popular and it frustrates you because some are not buying in.. fine, if you like what is going on and you truly believe what the knicks are doing is the right thing, then it should not matter what we think or say..
it should not bother you that we don't like carmelo, I noticed if we said we didn't like chandler, amare, felton, kidd, there would be no problem.. but to not like carmelo is driving you guys bonkers.... well some of us don't want the snake oil... we pass, we don't want it...pretty simple bro, it doesn't make us less of a knick fan, morons, bad guys, idiots, unemployed or any of the ridiculous and childish statements you and others have been recklessly throwing around about other people...

That is a very fair point. Many who aren't labelled haters have said much worse things about Knicks' players than anything you or I have said. It just hasn't been directed towards Melo.

yep..... just notice, the crowd is now turning on chandler... I see very little defense going his way, yet this guy has meant more to this team than carmelo has... in all fairness...

The crowd is not turning on Chandler. The guy is playing like $hit, so well deserved flak has gone his way.
The other guy is number 2 in the MVP race, and is getting more flak, undeservedly so.

1. The Knciks are winning (9-3) and really have been on a great pace since Woodson took the team over after Dantoni quit. This is all that really matters to me. I am far from frustrated. However, you clearly are. This is evidenced by the rant posted as you resigned from realgm and other assorted posts you have made on this forum the last few months.
2. The ceiling of the team current team is unknown. Time will tell and this largely depends on whether Amar'e is going to play well this season or be consistently beleaguered by injuries. One logical thing to conclude is that this team will only get better during the course of this season once Amar'e and Shumpert return.
3. Your position is well documented but poorly defended. In short, none of the ex-knicks are remotely close to being stars or impact players on a nightly basis. Therefore, I don't see how re-signing and building around them would now make the Knicks a better team today or in the future.
4. You are free to like or dislike Melo. I don't really care. I will point out fallacies in positions and/or claims you or others make regarding Melo though. For example, your claim that Melo was not really in the discussion as to MVP and/or ran Mr. Lin out of NY.
5. I don't ever recall labeling you unemployed, bad or the like. Not really my posting style.
6. I do believe it is your desire to see this current team fail. Do you deny that?

I think Chandler has been fine. He has had one or two bad games but he has overall been fine. His minutes are down so his stats are down as well.
Either he's not completely healthy or it's something else. He's not his DPOY self. The likes of Chris Kaman, Omer Asik, Greg Monroe, and Andre Drummond have feasted and beasted against him.
Might be the Knicks small lineup, who knows what it is.

No, it's just that his minutes are down. Per 36 min, everything is very similar except for the blocks. Check out the #s.

But you just proved my point. All his major stat contributions are down. Blocks, Steals, FG%...all stuff he's supposed to excel in.

Most of the stats are pretty close. Points and turnovers are a little better actually.

Well I cited those to point out that they weren't all down. Statistically, his performance is quite similar to last year.

I really dont care who you like or dislike, my only problem with some of these posters is the constant derailing of threads that attempt to heap praise on Melo. And its to rehash the same rhetoric about Melo's playoff record in Denver, or how he's responsible for forcing his way here and breaking up our future, etc. We've dsicussed these things ad-nauseum, why do we need to discuss them in a Melo MVP season thread? Is it a sin to actually like Melo and root him? Soem posters make it seem that way. The flip-side of the coin should be, "should it not bother you if we do like Carmelo?" If posters really dont like him, why the need to jump in every thread that bears his name and offer the same tired anecdotes? The banter becomes annoyingly juvenile at times.
