I see everyone complaining about Sheed's threes but when they start falling it will be a huge weapon in spacing the floor like Shawne Williams was. It depends on who is on the floor with him. If Melo and Amare are on the bench Sheed will go inside and postup. With Melo and/or Amare on the floor he will stand in that corner and get open looks. He is still getting his legs back which is a huge part of shooting. Guys struggle getting it back after missing a week. He's been out of the league for 2yrs. Trust me no one will be complaining when the 3's start to fall

I mentioned this after the 2nd game. No team in the history of the NBA Lives off jump shooting as contenders/champions. We do a heckuva lot of it. Right now it's going swell, we'll see if it continues.
As long as 'Sheed isn't launching those 3s in bunches (0-5 last night), then we'll be fine. The 3 headed PG monster usually shoot when they're open. When the shots aren't falling from outside, Knicks always go back to their calling card "Defense" like they did in the 4th quarter. I'm sure Woody will make adjustments to the offense if necessary.
Sheed is a good 3 point shooter he was just off last night
He's an average 3pt shooter for his career, but I'd rather see him use his 6'11 frame to post and toast.
Of course that's always been the knock on Sheed since he came into the league, that he falls in love with the 3 pointer instead of using his post skills...but that's a whole other thread and story.
'Sheed brings that dimension to post you and launch the occasional 3, along with solid D in the limited time he's there.
But back to the topic at hand, Novak will be fine. He grabbed a couple boards and had a steal even with limited touches. He'll be just fine.

I agree... it's not like he's doing the Jamal Crawford "dribble, dribble, CHUCK!!" and he's contributing in other ways

If sheed is on the floor with Melo and another big I do not mind him shooting the three but if he is on the floor with Novak and Camby he needs to be in the post. Also it was not exactly that he shot wide open threes it was that he took long wide open threes. The corner threes I have no problem with. I also think as Sheed gets into shape he will get better and if he is not Woody will sit him.
Also, I'll take Smith and Felton over anything Lin and Harden has done so far. This is with Felton shooting poorly at the FT line which will definitely go up.
Can't compare Harden to JR and Felton only Melo. JR and Felton benefit from playing with Melo. Harden would be unbelievable playing with Melo

Well I agree it would help Harden to not be a number one. Basically he would be doing what Smith is doing and what he was doing last year as a third option. Its why Kelvin Martin numbers are so high right now. Its weird because Harden is even doing the Melo quick dribble step out to get space.

SHEED has shot over 40% from three once in his long NBA career...he is a career 33% shooter from three, he is playing less minutes now than he was lets say, 5 years ago.. not sure if he will have the opportunity to even make a difference spreading the floor with his three. I think teams will be satisfied as they always have with him hoisting threes..
Sheed said himself, he wanted to come back to show these young guys how to play in the post, both on offense and defense.. I think he should stick to that, it will serve the knicks much better....

I think the rockets fans would feel the same way.. except in favor of lin and harden... if felton and Jr were the back court duo in Houston, they would not have a win....

really? I don't see that..

NO! in any world.. so are you saying the rockets would be better off with felton and JR smith... lets do this.. i will post this on the rockets board, and lets see if they agree...
or maybe it is just my world.. right?

Will you continue to post all your post on the Houston Board? Are Lin and Harden playing better offense and Defense than Smith and Felton are right now?

I know where this is leading, I will point out that harden and lin combined are avg more points rebounds and assists, then you will point to JR smith having a better FG%, and you will ride that all day... so really, what is your criteria for better..
I will tell you this..Lin and Harden are a better backcourt, period... but don't just take my view of things.. take this to a general board somewhere and asky anyone who would they rather have in the backcourt.. I don't think one person(except a homer knick fan) would chose felton and jr smith.. and really JR doesn't even start, so what is the point here?
Will you continue to post all your post on the Houston Board?
nah, I am going to spread my wisdom around.....
Novak hasn't been the same since MDA stepped down. He's had stretches where teams will kinda lose track of him and he'll knock down 4 or 5 treys, but woody dosent run enough screens for him and were not that uptempo team we were under mike...so his shots aren't even rythem 3's. There spot up shots that get defended easier..
Jefferies would set beautiful screens for novak and lin was a master at finding him..contrary to what some believe, he's defense and rebounding are a little better and think theres no way in hell you leave a shooter like him on your bench..
Novak is still shooting 43% from 3 land....he just hasn't shot the ball much. He seems to be rushing his shot a bit but he'll be fine.

What I meant was the way JR has looked. Harden would love that much better. Not while on the court with Melo. Melo and Smith can't be on the floor together for extended time. It would be the same if you replaced Smith with Harden. Basically Harden is way better than JR

exactly thats pretty much what I was trying to say. It's 5games Knicks are 5-0. Right now Felton is Stockton and JR is Jordan.
There were plenty of games late last year where Novak reeled off for 5, 6, 7 threes in a row under Woodson. He was shooting plenty of threes earlier this year but was rushing them. Now he lost confidence. He will regain it and regain the trust of his teammates and coaches. It's like when a good hitter goes in a slump you know he will snap out of it and hit .600 for a month
gunsnewing wrote:Knicks will have to shorten the rotation when Amare and shump return. Camby and Wallace will will backup Tyson and Amare. Melo goes back to SF. There will be no minutes for Novak. Minutes will go to shump, JR, kidd, felton and brewer at backup SF. If Knicks need offense Novak might be utilized occasionally over Sheed at PF
I don't think there will be many games this season where there isn't at least one or two Knicks injured. We have an older team. That's why we should be happy about the depth. Novak will get minutes because of this.
True. Although I truly believe the injuries that occurred late during the past 2 seasons to Amare, Melo and Lin is due to Dantoni's weak training camps where it would take the team 15-20 games to get in shape and by then we were fighting for our playoff lives and playing those guys 40mins a game riding them like a secretariat. A lot of nagging injuries throughout the year and these guys are in their prime. Reason imo was Dantoni doesnt push guys during training camp the way championship coaches do. If we have injuries this year it will be because we are old. That is why it is so important to kept the minutes of kidd, camby and sheed under 20 a game.
