Knicks · We would need a healthy Amare and Shumpert to play withe the Grizzlies (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 11/17/2012 9:34 AM
That team was superior on both units. We have no player who can check Randolph and their peed in the backcourt in both units has to be the best in the league. That's the best team right now.
JrZyHuStLa @ 11/17/2012 9:36 AM
Shumpert would've definitely caused problems for Allen and Conley.
tkf @ 11/17/2012 9:47 AM
shumpert would keep brewer on the bench more, and amare would give us more scoring in the paint.... a total win for the knicks if you ask me.. I can't wait till they both get back... I can't stand this slower pace three point chucking offense.. we have to get more points in the paint..

I thought Woody used a poor lineup for this game. They had Melo guarding Zack and Gasol I found it to be crazy. I didn't understand why he didn't use KT or Wallace to start the game. I know the past lineup had won 6 straight, but on a back to back Woody should have had a better game plan. Refs were pretty bad too.

I thought the same thing. Sort of like D'Antoni's philosophy as far as making them match us. It does work at times. I wonder why Camby didn't get any minutes? Would have liked to see if his length disrupted Zach...

Based on the comments made by Woodson, it appears Melo wanted that matchup, and since the team was essntially playing with house money on the trip, he obliged.

To be honest, he actually did a good job considering the major difference he was giving up.

Thought the refs should have let these guys play, quite a few calls were off the ball.

CrushAlot @ 11/17/2012 10:25 AM
A different officiating crew would have helped also.

Yeah that is starting to bother me. If he is healthy enough he should be out there especially against a team like Memphis

So....how exactly does amare help?

Would your prefer to chuck 3's at a faster pace? To be fair, thats been the Knicks mantra since MDA arrived. I love the slower pace as it gets us a better opportunity to get back into defensive position, and it simulates playoff basketball. As far as points in the paint, lets hope Amare unveils what learned from Hakeem....

IF YOU are going to be a three point chucking team I would prefer to play at a faster pace and get more posessions... yes.. I would... chucking threes at a slower pace doesn't give you any better chance to get back on defense, and it doesn't stimulate playoff basketball at all.. I would prefer to take less threes and play at a faster pace with this team... but if we are going to chuck threes, we better increase our posessions...

That is Woody's decision not Melo for the game a conventional lineup was needed. Melo should have been at his natural position of SF. Besides I don't like the idea of house money.

On a side note Rasheed was balling. Amare should be taking notes on the post moves.

If only Woodson took notes from the Grizz's coach. He had Rudy on Rasheed until Wallace was killing him in the post and then took him off.

I will say I thought kt played the best interior d for the Knicks last night. We can remember that for the future
yellowboy90 @ 11/17/2012 10:47 AM
I don't agree with this at all. The knicks can easily play with the Grizz at their current state with a few changes. Camby and Kurt should have played more and Sheed should have played with Melo and Tyson.

I do believe that Amar'e and Shump put this team over the top. However I do not think Shump will start or get more than 15-20 mins the way Brewer os playing. Right now he is making his shots and he is a better defender right now. What Shump will do is be able to take pressure off of NY's pgs by cross matching. This will help keep opposing pgs from breaking down the D in the middle. Even though he is not a good Pnr defender his ball denial and ball pressure up the floor will help a great deal.

Amar'e, well nothing needs be said we know what he can do.

PS. Now after this loss I will be waiting for a RonRon novel about trades. j/k.

I really didn't understand what Woody was doing in this game. The mismatches were heavily in favor of Grizzlies the lack of adjustments bothered me. I think the poor officiating took a toll on his coaching ability.

CrushAlot @ 11/17/2012 10:49 AM
The Grizzlies are really good. Conley has improved so much. When I think about them I always think about what a great frontcourt they have but their backcourt is tough.

To me they treated the game like house money.

You have to listen to woodson comment on that matchup.

Agree 100% Can't understand why it took Tyson's 5th foul with 7min left in the 3rd to get KT in the game. The second he came in we rebounded and played interior D and got back in the game. Too little too late

Yeah. I like his D on Randolf. In the back of my mind I was thinking Woody sees a bigger picture(I maybe reaching) because so far he has not been that stubborn in Ny. I figured he would go to the line up they had against the Nets in the pre-season with Kurt at the 4 because they have a big front line too. Keep Rasheed off the bench but give Kurt the early hook to keep him fresh. It's a long season and sometimes it maybe ok to learn things about the limitations of your team early as a coach.
