Well I was encouraged to write a "new here" thread, so here I am :D
I'm from Slovenia, in case any of you were wondering, so it sucks the way the games are scheduled over here, but recently I've started watching more and more games. I go to sleep at like 5 am because of it, but I'll be damned if I miss Melo and the Knicks play (well unless it can't be avoided). I've been "browsing" the forum for a while, dunno why but I like to check it out during time-outs etc. and see what other people think. Plus the activity is a big plus, I'd rather be in a forum "community" like this than a "dead" one.
Basicaly really lovin' the impressive start the Knicks are pulling off, I'll be the first one to admit I didn't see it coming. I mean I was fully aware that a full training camp under Woodson was going to make a difference, but wow, I've been immensely impressed with how they started. Defense wins championships, let's hope another one can be brought to New York this year, and in the process let's hope Melo has an MVP worthy season to go with it :)
Goran Dragic is from Slovenia, so you're in good company!
Welcome! I'm new here too!
Welcome, and man.. til 5am? You should work in movie business like I am then. Defense doesn't win the game, but what it does, is destroy the opponents desire to win the game. Still need offense :D. Hope we get to see you post more from Slovenia.
Welcome. This is a great place to talk Knicks. Make sure you check out SlickSports under other stuff on the tool bar. The nba feed to stories is almost as fast as twitter. Not sure how you are watching games online. Firstrow sports, and wiziwig are good free sites. This year nba.com gave their league pass broadband for free for a week and it was much better in my opinion. Wiziwig I believe offers the game after it has been played for free as well if you don't want to stay up. Double check before you miss a game. My info is all based on the time warner/msg dispute when Knick games were not being broadcast on time warner.
I agree about defense winning championships. Its great to go into every game knowing that the Knicks have a great shot at winning.
wow, I gotta say I didn't expect this :)
I guess a thank you is in order :)
yeah it sucks having to stay up late, but it sort of works out this year since I'm not attending school again until next year.
I usualy watch the games on FirstRow (like CrushAlot mentioned), and if I'm not watching the Knicks I usualy try and watch the Suns (Dragič) or the Kings (I have a "soft spot" for them), but that sucks even more since usualy they play even later in the evening.
And yeah, defense alone doesn't win the game, but it's sort of simple if you look at it this way: You're going to have good and bad shooting nights, there's really not much you can do to prevent that, but you can be way more consistent on defense, and if you work on that more than teams usualy do and make it work, that's when you have a legit title contender in my opinion (provided you have atleast SOME fire power on offense, a department in which the Knicks are hardly lacking in) - if it makes any sense :).
For example I struggle to think of a championship-winning side that wasn't atleast decent on the defensive end, more often than not whoever won played good defense (and ofcourse the offense followed suit).
This may sound crazy, but I sincerely doubt the Lakers will win anything with D'Antoni. They're going to be a good team, and a force to be reckoned with, but even with a team (or should I say starting line-up) as good and star-studed as the Lakers', they won't be celebrating in June anytime soon. He can say whatever he wants, and with all due respect he runs a good enough offense, but his neglect on the other end to me means that he'll never guide a side to a title, not unless you'd somehow get someone like Thibodeau as assistant and defensive coach.

A coach once told me, "If you score, you might win. If the other team doesn't score, you'll never lose." I've used the same quote with my girls (I coach 8th grade girls) as a way to motivate them to want to play defense, among other things. Defense is the key....
I agree,defense wins games.
Watch out for the land mines, which is everybody on the team except Kidd and about half the league.
YOUR WELCOME!!!!!
Welcome. There are posters from all over the world who post here so you'll fit right in.

on a side note:
I know everybody here is really happy with Felton, as am I. But if there was ever a chance of Dragič going to the Knicks that would be a dream move for me. Watching Dragič with Melo and the Knicks, can't think of anything I'd like to see more :)
I know it's completely unrelated and irrelevant, but I thought I might as well share it.
