It happens- every player has a few stinker games, doesn't cancel out how well he's played for us up until now.

Smith
Tyson
Felton
Come on folks you can't pick and choose taking turns on who to ESCAPE GOAT!!!!
Fans always want to point the finger and place blame somewhere for a loss. Fans hardly ever acknowledge the other team and give them credit for the win. The one constant person that's blamed nightly is Melo because he is like or not the face of the franchise. Check the game thread, when we lose, his stats are hollow, when we win, his games is nit-picked to the point where we wonder if he had a good game at all and then we prop-up the unsung guys (Kidd) and make them out to be better than they actually are.
Felton is an inefficient scorer who takes a ton of shots, which is very frustrating. You know he takes more shots a game than Tim Duncan, Chris Paul, Zach Randolph, Deron Williams, Blake Griffin, Carlos Boozer, and Pau Gasol?!
His one redeeming quality is that he's good passer.

What Felton really needs to do for us to be successful is start looking at tape of Derek Fisher. Fisher wasn't the most talented player in the world but he understood his role on the team and that his main job was to get everyone else involved. Felton needs to get over the fact that he's never going to be a great player and just work on being a role player.

Those numbers will come down when Stat and Shumpert return. To be honest, Felton is our 3rd option at this point behind Melo and JR.
Question is:
Did knicks "Lose" or did the Nets "Win"?
Did Melo get cold or did the Nets play good Defense?
Was Felton "Pathetic" or was williams "Brilliant"?
Williams 14 dimes was a thing of beauty. I enjoy watching the elite playmakers in the league do their thing.
Last nite I thought Deron played brilliant at times. When the Knicks built their lead Deron took command and made things happen.

He doesn't need to wait for Stat and Shumpert!

Exactly. He, at the very least, should be taking fewer shots per game than Melo, JR, and Tyson. If Felton's taking fewer shots it means he's involving everyone else much more.
I'm fine with Felton attacking the rim but he needs to learn to just stop when his shot isn't falling. Speaking of defense, JR was asleep the whole night. Nets probably got 15-20 pts on backdoor cuts, and JR was the culprit on quite a few.
This was a big game and I will go on the record to say that Felton is a decent player but not a big game player and Houston and Brooklyn were big games from a Knicks perspective. Felton kinda reminded me of Starks against the rockets in the finals.
Felton had an off off off off game. It happens.
That said, he should curtail his shots and keep them around 10 or so.

Felton had 2 straight bad games right now. I hope this stops soon. This team will only go as far as the 3 headed PG monster will take them.
It was a very winnable game last night despite poor play from Felton and even Melo (missed ft and bad shots at end of game) and missing a few starters. I was not happy with the outcome but can live with it. It is just one game. Felton and Melo have been pretty good overall.
The Knicks will lose some games and have some bad shooting nights. It's hoops. No need to over-exaggerate or knee-jerk. This loss does not really bother me that much. It was really the HOU. loss that still pisses me off because 90% of the team did not show up.

NYK have beaten the Spurs and Heat with Felton at the starting PG. I think you are really overreacting.
I am not going to defend Felton's shit performance last night but I am also not going to ignore the fact that Felton has done far more good then bad. Players have off shooting games. It happens. /shrug

It is not about the shooting. He can have a bad shooting game but he needs to manage the game better. He needs to make his teammates better. I don't think he had any hockey assists last night. I think the matchup with Lin really screwed him up. He wants to prove to the world that the Knicks made the right move and is trying too hard offensively. I think I saw at least 2 plays after timeouts where he broke from the play and shot it himself. Chandler was yelling at him and told him to run the play.
Exactly. Like i said forget the horrible shooting. He has not been seeing the floor too well lately. he missed Tyson and Novak a few times. In fact Tyson was very pissed at halftime. Also his defense is brutal. I know deron williams is an all-star but ray has been getting beat a lot lately. Like i said i like felton but he needs to pick it up and he needs to do it now. We are still 9-4 but we are 3-4 in the last 7 so we need to get back on a big winning streak otherwise it will be the same old knicks

I agree. He can be so much of a better player if he plays under control. What's troubling is that he followed the same script his first time around. Started out great and then really tailed off. Woody and Kidd need to set him straight.

This is who Felton is.
And, I had this argument numerous times with Hotfresh about him shooting too much. He states that if they leave him open (and they do because he can't shoot), then he has to keep shooting. I completely disagree. Rondo passes up wide open shots and so should Felton.
We should NOT live and die by Felton's shot.

GENIUS!
Did you also know that he would go 3-19?
Probably.

felton is who he is.. we have seen this before.. good some nights, horrible others.. Felton was here before and we have seen this..
what happened is everyone got caught up in the euphoria of the off season and the start of the season and forgot... look at the game, felton actually got good looks, and took them.. he missed some layups, but so did carmelo and JR.....
maybe some people need to revisit the felton appreciation thread, because the switch is being flipped on him so fast after a couple of games.. for me, this is par for the course for felton, next game he probably has a solid game.... most likely he will..

I'm fine with him shooting open jump shots but he should not be trying to create his own jump shot.
