Knicks · Losing is acceptable to the Knicks (page 1)

I'm still not convinced about this Knicks team. I feel Knicks will start to lose game more frequently, their defense has regressed and what we feared about the old foggies is starting to become reality. We knew injuries were going to be a big part of the Knicks. Losing is become more and more acceptable you can tell and see it in the body language.
IronWillGiroud @ 12/22/2012 2:20 PM
Woody took the ejection last night! He was pissed, great move by Woody to show he CARES about it all. So I'm not worried. Watch how they crush the Timberbitches tomorrow.
IrishKnickFan @ 12/22/2012 2:21 PM
You make good points about our defense. the first month our defense was top notch but since then we are like 24th i believe. we needs guys like shump camby sheed back if we are gonna lock up a top 3 seed

I think guys are banged up. Melo missed games after Dwight crumpled him. Felton has bone bruises on both hands. Novak is getting over the flu. I think Brewer's knee is balky. That and the Bulls came in and stopped everything that had been effective for the knicks on offense. The Knicks also have some guys coming back that should make a big impact.
Vmart @ 12/22/2012 2:34 PM
The reason I say losing is acceptable is the way they came out against teams they lost to. Team lacks pride that for me it means do they want it bad enough.

Last nights game the bulls just flat out bullied us. the bulls remind me of the 90's knicks teams tough and defensive minded. The Rockets are our worst enemy a very young team that runs all the time because we are more slow paced

These guys know they aren't what they showed last night, and they seems to always bounce back.

They've lost two in a row only once since woodson took over.

They don't accept losing, thread is a fail.

Knicks have been playing like a bunch of puszies. I have noticed the trend of weak play on the defensive side. What was suppose to be a calling card is slipping away. Home dominance was another aspect that was to be a big part if you can't beat the teams that beat you on their home court and exact revenge on them, I'm not sure they are that worthy of championship aspirations. The Knicks are playing scrappy basketball.

The Knicks have been built for one thing and one thing only. Thats to beat the Heat. I hope that when Stat comes back and Shump we will be ready for any team in the NBA. Look Amare was a all star many times over. You just don't loose that. It's Melo who I am worried about. Team are tripple teaming him and fouling him with extra punishment to his body. How much more can he take without getting any calls. Hell Lebron can wack and hack and still get no calls.

league is letting a lot of calls go.. knicks are reaching and whacking as much as anyone else and we are getting away with it as well... carmelo needs to pass more and less iso's.. therefore less wear and tear..

That's the effect of playing the 4 spot, you get hit.

what shouldn't happen is whining about not getting calls, and not getting back on defense.

also look to finish plays instead of banking on fouls.

I'm glad Melo is here but alot of times he goes in way too soft in the paint.

gunsnewing @ 12/22/2012 4:57 PM
That and Melo isn't a 4
Nalod @ 12/23/2012 12:35 AM
Pro's realize that you don't win every game.

Losing is a part of the game.

Sorry, its their job. Failure is a part of the equation.

cooch2584 @ 12/23/2012 8:02 AM
Not worried.
newyorknewyork @ 12/23/2012 8:18 AM
We all knew from the begining that we weren't a true contender unless Amare & Shumpert come back and play well and Camby finds his way into the rotation. I am greatfull that the team has been able to play this well and be one of the top teams in the NBA without them.

The team is trying to fight the injury bug so beatting us up is the way to play us right now. Need the reinforcements to reduce responsibility and mins. Kidd playing 30mins a game or more is not good.

We all did? Because I thought a lot of people. Issued Knicks as best team in east with an MVP guiding the ship

For the regular season, but im pretty sure it was commonly accepted that if we were to win a championship Amare, Shumpert and Camby would be needed.

Besides the losses to Chi doesn't really dispute if the Knicks can be the best team in the east with an MVP guiding the ship. We beat Miami's ass twice and beat the Spurs in SA. There will be great wins and tough losses. At the end of the day so far the Knicks have still won a lot more then they have lost.

Losing is "acceptable" to the Knicks? Why, because you say so? Who's your source?

You have the slightest idea how much these guys wanna win. You have the slightest idea the burning desire these guys have inside of their heart. You don't have a clue what it takes to prepare for an NBA game both physically and mentally.

But yet, I'm supposed to take your word (of all people) because you've actually gone out of your way in order to create a thread on how losing is "acceptable" to these Knicks? Grain of salt; I'll agree to disagree and ignore this thread moving forward. Thanks for the update and/or info about our loveable losers in which accept losing on a nightly basis.

You don't even have a clue what these players and coaches talk about during trips to and from the Garden after loses...

You are right as fan I have no idea what it takes to win. But I do know when the team has it right from the start of the game. whether they are going to give full effort or not how does a fan know this. I can guarantee that 90% of the board knew the Knicks didn't show for the Rockets and Bulls after the first quarter. What was more disappointing was they had these teams at home after losing to them on the road. I remember the 90s teams when they lost to a team on the road they wanted nothing more than to destroy the team they lost to at home. Since the 6-0 start the Knicks are 13-7 lost 2 of 3 at home and a road trip coming. With that said they have injuries to deal with.

For someone who makes a ton of assumptions himself im surprised by your response.

Your also assuming you do know what these players and coaches talk about.

I think the thread meant to discuss the on court language of what we see, not the inner sanctum of thought you seem to have privy to.

If I were going to guess, and its just a guess, I'd say JR smith is more worried about his next contract than "winning". Woodson is worried about winning. Melo is worried that if we don't win his legacy will deteriorate. Amare is worried about his career and being "prideful". Winning makes it all good. JR is allowing Woodson to mentor him because he needs to get paid. I'd worry about JR if we sign him long term.

Winning is important no doubt thru the organization. Winning is also about revenue.

We all tell fables about the team.

You do it as much as anyone. Just understand if a man offers his opinion its just that. If you speak as if your "in the know", thats a bit presumptuous.

So when JR got flattened by Wallace in the second Nets game with an already bad back and he kept playing he was worried about his contract? This whole worried about your legacy thing has never made sense to me either. I don't know how many big shots, hits or hard fouls Melo has to take before he gets a bit more respect from some Knick fans. In regards to JR and Woodson's relationship, the only thing fans really know is what we are told. It does seem to be working and Woodson has been credited as a mentor by other guys (i.e. Mike Bibby). Sheed did come back to play for Woodson. Clyde has compared Woodson to Red Holtzman. Maybe he was looking for more ratings or his next msg contract?
