Knicks · How would you compare the Loyalty of JR Smith to the Loyalty of Lin to re-signing and being a NY Knick?? (page 5)
IronWillGiroud wrote:If you think JR Swagnuts wouldn't take a poison pill if someone offered, then IDK what to say to you,No one, not a single player in the NBA would turn down more money, come on man you think he wants to play in New York so bad that he won't take bigger money elsewhere?? hahahaha watch when this contract runs out and he goes to highest bidder,
point is, loyalty only exists with fans, not with players, this is fantasy land papabear you are living in maybe you are hibernating!!!
JR couldn't get a poison pill because no one would give it, his value is 2.8m$ to start the season, it's all he could've hoped for, if he could've gotten anything else it would've been there, I think he was in China last year,
Now, after this season, someone will overpay for him I think.
To my mind, he's a streaky up and down player, when he's on he's looking like an NBA Legend, when he's off he's looking like a bum,
Let's enjoy the ride right now and be prepared to say goodbye, I just hope Knicks isn't the team to give him a max deal, because Dolan is already probably thinking about it.
Papabear Says
You are wrong! dead wrong! Look at Bosh, LeBron, and Wade The took less money in order to play where they wanted to. And Oh by the way they won a championship. LOL

The only thing that would be important to JR Smith would be that he starts and after the second year he would have a bail out clause. He is a New Jersey boy who love the Knicks. Lin gave us the poison pill and if we would have kept Lin it would have been very difficult for Melo to be who he is now. Making Lin some sort of hero over Melo would be a hard pill for Melo to swallow even though Lin can't be compared to the greatness of Melo.
There is no loyalty involved here, professional sports is not a family business where loyalty can be questioned. Professional sports teams makes decisions based on finance's and contracts not loyalty this is why few players stay with the same team who drafted them throughout their entire career.
Lin wanted more of the pie and I would think J.R Smith would do the same. For him to stay and and not get a new contract what he's worth would be insanity .

So what you are saying as a player Lin is worth 25 million compared to other point guards who can kick his butt but making less.

How could u make a post about such a statement?1) WE NEVER OFFERED LIN A CONTRACT....
2) I seriously do not think JR Smith's other deals this summer were much better than 4m or so, what OJ mayo got....
3) The test for loyalty is this summer, if JR continues to play this way, especially if he and we perform well during the playoffs...
WE CAN ONLY OFFER HIM 5m per year or so, if he continues to play like this, his loyalty will be tested, and stop making comments Lin look like he did something to screw the Knicks.
What world do u live in, if someone offers u a contract that will pay u more, u will not take it?
Lin did not have an option to sign the first offer or choose the 2nd one, come on,If you were Lin, u would not sign the only contract that was offered to u, and the most possible that u could make, *with the match up to a billion dollar comments*????
Lin did not give us the poison pill, the NEW CBA, and The Rockets offered it...Ron Ron says PAPA BEAR's brains are fried...
So Lets see will Melo make much less so Knick's can have more cap money to spend to build on a Dynasty?
Your comments just don't make sense, Lin did what was best for his career, Melo already made plenty of $$$ in endorsements alone, I don't expect him to take much less to stay a Knick either, in fact I think he is expecting a Joe Johnson like deal....Melo threw Lin under the bus with JR Smith, has ANYONE on the Yankee's ever mentioned AROD's contract?
IT was uncalled for and unprofessional, especially since they were "technically still team mates"I believe Melo was jealous of Lin and he learned a thing or 2 about using the crowd/fans for their support and energy that Lin did last year....
It inspired him to learn to get his team mates involved more than just scoring, playing DEF, and getting the crowd on his side....Especially the turning point was STAT to Melo MVP chants turning to boos when Melo went 1v1 and took bad quality shots....
Woody strokes Melo's ego and gets the most out of his production since any of his other coaches in the NBA, on both ends,
we are missing Melo's DEF along with his post up/ability to spread the floor...Melo is currently our best mobile PF defensively on our roster
PF's that post up consistently and effectively are almost extinct in the leagueI don't understand the need for constant low blows, just because they are no longer Knick's
I think so too ron, haha..... brains completely fried...
good post tho, I agree with most said here..
one thing I would like to add, if you sign an offer sheet you are telling that team you want to play there, not that you are using them to get more money from your former team.... so when Houston came back with the revised contract with the "poison pill" what was lin supposed to say? NO don't offer a contract the knicks can't match, I am just using you guys to get a better deal.. LOL people need to be reasonable.. the knicks didn't offer lin a deal.. mistake #1, and they didn't match the offer from Houston , mistake#2..
Papabear SaysOOH now here comes TKF the Melo hater who only comes out when the Knicks loose or to bash Melo. Fried brains is what you have. one thing I would like to add, if you sign an offer sheet you are telling that team you want to play there, not that you are using them to get more money from your former team.... so when Houston came back with the revised contract with the "poison pill" what was lin supposed to say? NO don't offer a contract the knicks can't match, I am just using you guys to get a better deal.. LOL people need to be reasonable.. the knicks didn't offer lin a deal.. mistake #1, and they didn't match the offer from Houston , mistake#2..
Papabear SaysOOH now here comes TKF the Melo hater who only comes out when the Knicks loose or to bash Melo. Fried brains is what you have. Anyone would wish for Melo to miss a shot even if the game depended on it sounds like a person that needs to go to the Nets and be a Nets fan. Also go see a brain doctor and take Ron Ron with you.
MR. BEAR... why not address the post, why the personal attack.. we are not talking about melo or a knick loss, so what is the problem here? why the troll post in response?
Papabear Says
GREAT SCOTT!!!! Look who's talking!! Doctor Troll himself TKF the Melo hater the Knicks Hater. LOL I guess I better cool off. Maybe TKF is trying to change. Well TKF I'll but I want you to say or post one the for me. Just say I AM A MELO FAN BECAUSE HE WILL HELP US WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP.!!
come on TKF you can do it! LOLchange what? why the ridiculous post man? melo has never helped anyone win a thing, we are not talking about him, we are talking about something else, why keep bringing him up? i have better things to talk about bro.....
Papabear Says
Why bring him up?? It's because this whole disscussion is in one way or another have Melo implications. Without Melo we win nothing and how can you hate someone who is as talented as Melo. You should be hating LeBron James who played us giving hints and winks about how great it would be to play in New York and he never had any intentions of coming here. We got rid of Zach Randolph, Crawford, and others who are doing just fine.
Now come on TKF show some love for Melo. Come on you can do it!

Papabear SaysAHHHHH I believe I started this post! this is my creation brain child.
oh, i get it, since you created this mess you feel you have the right to troll and derail it? I get it.. well I no longer want part of this...
later..
loyalty from guys paid $$ is kinda silly now. back in the days when a bonus from winning might double your yearly income, loyalty might be more reasonable from a fans view. i dont fault carmelo for not waiting to be a FA to join ny and costing himself tons of $. im not gonna pat a player on his back for "taking less" either. these guys should try to maximize what they can get while they can, just like i would bet the old time players wish they could have done -- across all sports.

Papabear Says
So what you are saying as a player Lin is worth 25 million compared to other point guards who can kick his butt but making less.
like who?
Papabear Says
1. Mike Connlie
3. Stephen Curry
3.Jemere Nelsen
4. Kyle Lewry
5. Jrue HollidayNeed I name any more????? They all are making less and can out play Lin.
he already played agains kyle lowry and lowry was awful..
steph curry makes more than lin bro... stop trying to deceive, i know you are looking at stephs salary this year for 3 mil, yea part of his rookie deal, but he signed a new deal, next year he will earn 9 mil and then it goes up after that..
jameer nelson.. LOL.. whatever man he is making 8.6 per, more than lin and I am sure the rockets would not trade lin for nelson
JRU is a beast, saying he is better than lin is no knock on lin.. but he also got an extension making 11mil per
conley also makes more money than lin as well or better yet the avg of his next 3 years are pretty much the same as lin..
papa give it up man, you are wrong here.. just wrong.. LOL
Papabear Says
TKF Your information is incorrect. Stop trying to impress the people on this blog because you don't know what you are talking about. Stop throwing out numbers that are not true. I am going with the price of 25 million in 3 years. Go root for Houston and give Lin a hug. What I call you is a Knick fake lover.
do this.. since this is your bumbleflock of a mess, go post their salaries and then post lin's.. that is what I did.. I posted what they are making.. otherwise, you are wasting time....

There's a few problems with your list.
1. Mike Conley has a 4 year/$33M contract
2. Stephen Curry is still on his rookie deal. When he's due for an extension he'll be making more than Lin He's already signed an extension and will be making more than Lin.
3. Jameer Nelson sucks and he's making the same money as Lin.
4. Kyle Lowry, no argument
5. Jrue Holliday is in the last of his rookie deal, he's already signed an extension that will be paying him $11M/year starting next season.
