It will work out this year because of depth and JR SWAG going bananas and apricots all over the league,
But no one on the team is getting younger and our depth this year could turn into really shallow water next season,
I'll take 15-20 this season, next season it won't cut it. Hopefully we can dump him for pieces to replenish our the little fish
DUMP HIM? That bus has left the station. We had a golden opportunity with the amnesty deal we WASTED on Chauncey Billups. That was he worst single move in Knicks history. The idots in charge thought he was going to make a comeback - LOL

Yeah but amnestying Chauncey led to the Knicks getting Tyson. Also, there are a lot of moves in the history of the Knicks that were really bad. Amare wasn't having knee issues at that point. His back was the issue.

Saying we should have saved it for amare is classic retrospect. Getting Tyson was the right move. No way to know this would happen with amare.

It's not retrospect if at that point in time you wanted them to use the amnesty on Amare.
I'm actually a little encouraged with what Im seeing from Stat as far as his mobility. He is moving up and down the court pretty well, showing that he can turn on the jets when he wants to. He just looks real rusty. Can't rely on him too much minutes wise, but when he gets his shot back he is going to make it easier on whoever is on the floor with him.

Agree, give him time- at the very least a month. Some people seriously gave him 40 minutes total to prove himself after playing 1 game in 8 months. They'll probably give Shump 4 games before they proclaim him a shadow of his former self.
Like someone said a while back, some posters are rooting for the team and it's players to fail just so they can be proved right. I hate coming on here after a loss because these posters come out in force.

they will tell you that if you don't cut chauncey you don't get tyson, but if you cut amar'e, you can still pick up tyson, so i don't know what the problem is, and you still have money to burn on a solid veteran,
now you just have a crippled veteran that's really playing at a $5M per year level,

But at that point in time it wasn't realistic. He had just averaged 25/8 and was an MVP candidate. The series of events that happened after made it a good thought, but not at that time. No one could have said for sure this is how things were going to end up.
I never wanted him to sign here as a free agent....... his injury history and poor defensive low IQ effort was the major reason why.
Matter of fact when it came down to the thought of Lebron coming here who would be the power forward or preference, I stated I'd prefer Lee playing alongside Lebron over Amar'e especially for the dollar and sense of the matter.
Now Amar'e can't help what's happened to his body since his arrival here but let it not go without mentioning D'AnToni ran him into the ground in his first year. I'm 100% positive that was the last season of stress on his legs, he hasn't really been the same since. Kind of ironic D'AnToni's 2nd season coaching him he had Amar'e shooting further and further and further and further and further and further and further and further and further and further and further away from the basket.
Looking at his comeback this year it's been near brutal to watch because he's not rusty folks, once again he's incapable. He couldn't even blow by David West yesterday beyond the elbow and when his angle is taken from him it takes a while for him to gather himself or he stops his attack early.

Looks like you were proved wrong. Without Amar'e, there would be no Melo or Tyson or Felton or any of the other players on this team. We'd be stuck with the likes of Gallo, Lee, Wilson Chandler & co (wouldn't even of had Lin), and as popular as they are to some, they wouldn't win you many games.

That's fine those guys mentioned they came here because Amar'e started it all at the same time you don't know how our team would have shaped up had we taken a different approach in Free Agency, Trades, and/or Draft seasons in succession of 2010.

I do sometimes wonder, but the trend seems to be any big name free agent tends to get traded rather than walk for nothing- I don't really see who we would have signed over the past few seasons, who would want join a roster of Gallo, Lee and Wilson Chandler. (I haven't actually gone back and looked, so I might be wrong- don't trust the old memory!)
He has no lift either. Man gets blocked or stripped if he doesn't have a clear path to the hoop.

Yeah as much as he is struggling, he's a big reason Melo and these guys are here. He started the trend. So feelings towards Amare go both ways. Would we rather have D Lee right now? Absolutely. But Amare had a great regular season and got this team started. Now the goal is to turn him into a good role player for the next 2 1/2 years or at least 1 1/2 until his expiring contract becomes attractive. It doesn't seem like that big of a deal, because it's not that long. 20-25 mpg off the bench, he will give us 12 points and 5 rebs per game and be decent.
You guys act like he suppose to come back like superman from surgery. Look how long it is taking Dirk to get back. It's a process.
The issue is that Amare is always either injured or struggling to return from his latest injury

Dirk went under the knife around the same time as Amar'e and I believe had a more extensive procedure done on his knee
Dirk came back before Amar'e
Dirk is pretty much 5yrs older than Amar'e
Dirk has played more games/minutes/been in the league longer than Amar'e
Dirk currently is playing more minutes than Amar'e
Dirk is averaging better numbers than Amar'e
Dirk is what you call somewhat rusty but he doesn't look incapable....Big Difference between these 2 players. Amar'e still looks like he could be injured almost RGIII esque, hence team doctors pleading with the team to cut his minutes back. Dallas doctors aren't pleading with the Mavs coaching staff to restrict his play.

Dirk look terrible in his first few games and was getting block by guards. It takes time. Now if two months from now he looks the same ok then there is something to talk about.

Dirk had surgery before Amar'e, but don't let that basic fact get in the way of your entire argument.
Dirk is old and who knows if he'll ever be great or even good again. I don't see the relevance to this discussion.
