Felton helps

Get over it bro. Lin took the money and ran. You sound like a jilted ex, who blames everyone for your significant other dumping you, rather than coming to terms with the fact that you were dumped. Who cares about Lin anyway. Hes not even that good. I dont get the obsession. Felton is better.

If I remember correctly, Kobe Bryant was almost guilty of rape himself nevermind being in the house. Bypass Kobe? Im talking back ups with young legs and skills. Camby is making almost 5mm this year. Money poorly spent.

reports are saying a date rape drug was found in he's suite and that he had compromising photos of the victim on his phone. Personally, not looking for guys that rape or participate in those sorts of crimes even if they have young legs and are being accused of the same crime as Kobe.

Blatche is the same clown who flagged down a undercover cop for sex while playing for the Wizards, Blatche can't handle NYC.

Enough with blaming Carmelo Anthony for Jeremy Lin. Lin signed with Williams and Connaly, whose business it is to show him the money.

They showed him the money and he took it.

Damn.

What he plays in Brooklyn and has been doing great. Hes way way better than Amare right now. And Blatche is just an example--we didnt go after any young fresh legs--all older guys. Copeland and White were just fillers in pre season.

The Starting Quarterback

The simple fact is we caught a bad break with Raymond Felton's injury. He is neither older nor broken down. However, his loss altered the shiftlines like falling dominoes. Without Felton, our fragile backcourt balance was changed to put more on Kidd. JR is leaned on heavier.

Tyson is doing less rolling and picking. Distribution of minutes changes.

Has anyone noticed the drop in defense coincides with Felton's absence?

Valid or not?

I miss scrappy.

well if there is a brite side, Copeland should see more minutes.

I'm guilty of being really down on Felton while he got injured and thought we might not miss him too much. I was dead wrong. Miss his defense and penetration dearly right now. If we had him against Indy we would've won that game.

But that Indy loss isn't something to get all wound up about. Our age and injuries on the bench are becoming an issue. But everyone had to deal with injuries. We still have Shump coming back, STAT is still finding his game (hopefully) and Felton will be back in 2-4 weeks.

We've already seen the ebb and flow that a season has to offer. Just look at Miami. They're going through the same thing (minus the injuries).

I think that is an excellent point and def agree.

Without him and Melo the team is solely dependent on JR and he had a tough game against a great defensive team last night. I don't think it's such a big deal. Think about the guard rotation once everyone is good: Felton, Kidd, Pablo, Shump, JR. That's a pretty good mix of experience, athleticism, passing, offense and defense.

I do, however, think they are in trouble with the bigs and am worried Tyson is gonna get worn down because of it. Don't get me wrong, Grunwald did an excellent job (specifically w/ resigning JR, so we can exceed the cap to resign him next yr too), but what happens to this team if Tyson were to go down?

I agree. We're missing the second best scorer in the league and our starting PG. No reason to hit the panic button. We were still able to stay with a good team at full strength on their home court.

Agree as well --no panic button needed. BUT after reviewing our season so far its easy to see we have to many older players--we went to far in that direction. At some point teams are going to really mob Carmelo and put emphasis on letting other players beta them. Guys like Ronnie Brewer Prigioni Novak Kidd Copeland Amare etc... and this team is a lottery team without Carmelo. Many good teams are still good even without their best guy--I dont think we are terrible without him--but we certainly not a playoff team. Still in essence--we will get Shumpert back barring set back and hopefully some young legs in the starting line up will help eat minutes with good production taking pressure off of the other guys. Right no need to panic--but you can see some flaw of going to old.

Makes sense Briggs. I agree that getting our younger players back is important to keep the older vets as fresh as possible for the playoffs. I don't believe they would have added so many vets if we didn't have Melo to carry the bulk of the scoring load. When we get Felton/Shump back I'm guessing that their ability to get to the rim is going to make it easier on Novak which will make it easier on everyone else. But they have to make an effort to get him going.

I would say the knicks are too and/or injury prone at the 4 and 1.

Honestly I would say Kidd is a 2 guard, web aren't even carrying 3 point guards.

And Amare/Sheed/Camby/Kurt as our 4/5 guys has bitten as the worst in the first half injury wise.

I would Cut White to bring in another 4/5 guy and I would trade Novak for a backup point guard. Priggy is an emergency point and Kidd is a shooting guard that should only play 20 minutes a game. Their has to a quality backup that the knicks could get for the "best three point shooter in the league". I'm talking Araon Brooks, Steve Blake, Earl Watson......... some one who can actually run an offense for 15 minutes a night and guard the other teams backups.

Novak's contract is a problem. He's been exposed as a guy who can't move and relies heavily on Melo and Felton to get him his looks. If we could trade him for a quality young PG I would. But most likely it's not possible. Having Novak is so frustrating. He's such a great shooter but just can't get good looks.

Anji @ 1/11/2013 10:46 AM
In four days we have the option to trade guys we signed in the summer. I would think their are some Gm's that think all Novak needs is Jeremy Lin and Jared Jeffries again to score.

Yes and no. There is a reason Novak started to shine when he got here. He played with good PG's before, he merely needs another drive and kick PG to get his open looks. Felton isn't bad at that, but he could improve regarding his vision. I mean, when you have a guy like Novak on your team (great great shooter, can't create his own shot) you need to look for him more than others (e.g., J.R.) Further, having guys that you must respect their shooting (e.g., JR, Melot, Stat, etc.) should create more open looks for Novak.

Beyond that, I really think the coach needs to create some plays to give Novak looks. That is basic as he can't create his own shot.

The age of the team is certainly catching up with us. Kidd was playing lights out not that long ago, but his play has fallen off. Our two big guys that are out right now are just killing things. I just think when and if we get back to being healthy and have some chemistry and cohesion, we will be fine. I do hope we get there, then we will be contenders.

at least not one who's better than Pablo anyway. He's averaging 8 points, 7 assists per 36 min. I don't think you'll get something better without giving up much.

Per my eyes, I don't care what his stats projected in a vacuum. The guy is an emergency point guard, Novaks value as ""the best shooter in the league" should be able to get a point guard of Watsons level who is currently wasting away in Utah. Watson is at least 3 times better than Priggy.
