Also spacing will be less of a problem with the ball in Felton's hands.

Amare a better defender than Melo at the 4?? That made my day. Thank you sir!

and better rebounder. Slow to react defensively but doesn't get overmatched like Melo

Not a better rebounder. May get more rebounds but gives up many more by not boxing out.
Doesn't get over matched? He gets beat silly in every way.

Suns almost knocked off the Spurs juggernaut in the WCF largely in part to Amare going toe to toe with Duncan. He had to have been doing something right
Melo averaging 5.8rebs and we are the worst rebounding team in the league. Is that Amare's fault too?

Melo avg's less because he is focused on boxing out his man(face guarding) and defensively he is better at the 4 in every aspect except blks but I do want Amar'e starting once everyone is healthy. I think thr rebs will go up because Melo can clean up at the 3 instead of box out a bigger opponent. Amar'e is doing better and Melo and Tyson are constantly talking to Amar'e. The numbers Amar'e are putting up offensively are great( Small sample size)
. His post PPP at 1.07 and 1.09 PPP on PNRs this is without felton.
I think the best PnRs will come with Melo and Amar'e because Amar'e can keep the big from chasing because of STAT's jumper. That jumper is going to help Felton too. PEople are sleeping on where this offense will go once stat starts.

Bingo!
Amare is already our best offensive player. Getting to the line at will. Easy shots etc. Gonna be nice on Saturday when Felton returns

OK let's not exaggerate but he has been one of the best finishers in the game and has show to still have those capabilities. He is not back yet and I have not seen many other players come back from knee injuries instantly on top of there games. I do think he needs more post touches and hopefully they start running the 2nd unit o through him.
Doesn't seem like the knee surgery Amare had was all that serious. Just a procedure. He looks fine for now. Whether his back or knees give out again is anyones guess

I said earlier how he always seems to bounce back from his knee woes
Though they are hardly a perfect fit on the offensive end—both players are at their best when they are on the receiving end of a pick-and-roll pass—they have been serviceable enough. The Knicks have been outscored by an average of 4.8 points per 48 minutes when Chandler and Stoudemire are on the court together, according to NBA.com.The issue has been more apparent, though, when Stoudemire is forced to man the fort alone. In the 24 minutes he has played as a center with Carmelo Anthony, Steve Novak, J.R. Smith and Pablo Prigioni, the Knicks have been outscored by an average of 19.8 points per 48 minutes.
Making matters worse: Stoudemire, who is just nine games removed from left-knee surgery, isn't rebounding as well as he used to. His 9.3% rebounding rate this season would be the lowest of his career. By comparison, Anthony—a natural wing player who is three inches shorter and 15 pounds lighter—is grabbing rebounds at the same rate as Stoudemire this year.

Amare is the worst max player I've ever seen. I know the article is saying we get out scored by less with Tyson and Amare on the floor, but we are still getting outscored. He takes away so much on the floor, if he isn't dropping 25-30 it seems to me he gives up more than he get's. We need another real big, Amare weaking the starting line up isn't the answer.

He got out rebounded by C.J. Watson on a possession 2foot flat footed jump and got his stuff smushed/crammed back in his face by Lopez, Kris Humphries clearly over matched him on the glass....Not sure what Amar'e you guys are watching but even last year Amar'e had impressive moments of athleticism. He looks incapable still and if you want to be tricked by a mirage of garbage dump off dunks from Melo passes then go right ahead.
The only thing he did well was on 2 possessions backed Humphries down for a couple jump hooks. Reggie Evans got one of those off too
We won't be outscored with Felton back leading the charge. We are much better off with the ball in Felton's hands than Melo's
White starting tonight. Does this mean Woodson is going to go with the Shump at SF small lineup once Felton returns. Mistake IMO taking away Shump's effectiveness of guarding the 1 & 2 positions.
Maybe only cos the Celtics are small
I think Stat could grow to enjoy being part of the second unit and having a little more freedom offensively at times. I believe Pablo/Stat is going to work out well if they have the time to get used to playing together. Felton creating more space for our shooters should help us get off to a better start in the first if Raymond can play like he did to start the season.

I agree. I also think there is a fragility to Amare's knee that can't be ignored. He has played beyond the (5 yr?) time line doctors thought his surgery would be effective for and his most recent surgery is worrisome. Limiting his minutes, keeping him healthy and having him play with a point that loves the pick and roll like Prigs might be the best way to handle things.
Amare thrived defensively in the zone. Would love to see more zone mixed in with the switch

It's just a mirage it didn't really happen
9 boards in limited minutes was pretty surprising. And he played some solid help D in the zone.
I just hope if he is inserted into the starting lineup, Woody will try and play alot of 2 PG sets like earlier in the season to promote ball movement. I realize this will be difficult to have a starting lineup, w/ Shump and JR healthy, but we looked amazingly good at the beginning of the year and I believe it was mostly due to this fact. With another offensive threat out there, I think it would only makes more sense to keep that 2 pg system to begin a game.
JR and Shump would still play major minutes, I just think this would set an excellent tone for the game.
