Knicks · NBA.com Knicks Mid-Season Report Card (page 1)

Really can't argue with anything written. Knicks are 1 of 4 teams with the highest grade A-

http://www.nba.com/reportcard/midseason/...

Thats exactly the grade I had in mind A- which is pretty phenomenal considering where the knicks have been the past 11yrs. Its not so much about the wins from here on in but how we are playing and how we fair against Miami and Chicago.

Shame we were only 25-14 at the time and slumping. Now we are 28-15 and rolling again

Which is why it's so important that we finish with the one seed over the two seed. This way, we won't have to deal with the likes of both Miami and Chicago but instead, one of the other. Which ever takes makes it out of the 2nd round is who we (would) get as the #1 seed.

#1 vs. 8.
#2 vs. 7.
#3 vs. 6.
#4 vs. 5.

With Rose coming back, Brooklyn being awful against winning teams and Boston being without Rondo I can picture all of the Knicks, Heat and Miami advancing out of the first round.

That leaves

#1 vs. the winner of 4-5 (as of right now would be either Brooklyn or Indy) while the #2 and #3 seed battle it out.

This is why I'm so amped about being only 1.5 games back of Miami for the number one seed despite all of our team injuries and/or players such as Felton, Kidd, Pablo, Brewer, James White, Copeland, Kurt Thomas, Rasheed and Camby not even being on our team's roster last season ala haven't even had a chance to get their feet wet as Knicks.

Im more worried about Miami now that they have size with Birdman and possibly Oden

I would give the backcourt a lower grade than B due to perimeter defense issues.

With some health restoring to the roster, I could see the Knicks improve to an A+ for the 2nd half of the season.

If we get Wallace and Camby healthy enough for a playoff matchup with the Heat, I don't fear any bigs they acquire.

Oden want play this year.

Knicks right now have the best frontcourt in basketball with Chandler Amare and Anthony. Amare has been awesome the last 3 and looks great. Grade A

A goal for this team would be to make sure BOTH Chandler and Amare get fed as much as possible because they shoot a very high%

Carmelo is a franchise-type player although clearly a level below the games best players like Lebron and Durant. He grades an A for franchise and would go to an A+ by moving his FG% back to 48+ and his assists to 5+

Ray Felton started off great slacked down and is back on the type of game he needs to be at more assists and better shots with a higher FG% Grade B-

J Kidd gets an A for his age he truly helped this team beyond capacity in every term. He now needs to rest and return to a 18-20 minute bench role where he can exel. Grade A

JR Smith Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde--what he needs to be is in between. He needs to take less shots like Felton and those shots need to be better shots. He needs to use his ability to get to the rim and get fouled more. grade C

Novak--simply not the same guy as last year he's just not there the same way--when I see him shoot an open shot--he needs to make that shot bottom line regression from Y-Y Grade D

Brewer- hes been hurt and bad F

Copeland--nice find but he wont factor for the playoffs B- for what he has shown

Pablo Prigioni-- He's a grade A back up PG hes a good passer defender and he shoots 46% Grade A

Rasheed--was a very decent help and could be again--we desperately need either him or Camby and IMHO Rasheed was a much better fit. We cannot play amare more than 22-24 minutes Chandler plays 30 or so--so we lack somewhere even if Anthony plays some 4. I would give Rasheed a B- as his FG % is to low to be ranked higher but he certainly has been a helper on both ends.

Camby--has really just been hurt bad trade bad signing I dont think this guy will play 20 more NBA games.

James White--see Copeland ultimately hes just a 14th man who should not be playing in the core of a team that wants to win a championship. Hes a B for what he is and he deserves more run to see if he can help like Copeland got--not totally counting him out.

Kurt Thomas---hes been an A for what he does--hes hit shots played D and been a trooper--hes certainly earned his 1.32mm

Iman--hes playe d just ok but hes a shell of the player who was here last year. Hes not the answer at this point but hopefully he can get better with every passing day.

This is a good team--a very good team--that is just short because of guard play. If I knew for sure that Rasheed was coming back for 15-18 anight Id feel comfortable upfront--but who knows.

I think if we can--if we can improve the team at the 4-2 at the deadline--I would do it even if it meant shumpert. Id have to get a player like a Vince Carter who will play here for two years. If we had Vince at the starting2 right now--wed be dead on favorites.

GM--B- a bad trade for Camby kills what wouldve been a B+ A-

Team as whole B+ A-

B+ team overall,

when you consider this B+, it's more what I didn't say than what I said by giving the B+,

this team should be an A+, they're underachieving at B+, 28-15? Chicago is 28-17 without their best player, we have our best player,

still a B+ is a 3.5 out of 4, that's solid and it's more than any other Knicks team over the last 13 years

Underachieving???..So u thought they would have the best record in the East at this point??

I don't think they're underachieving. This is about what I expected from a group this talented and old. But I agree a B+ is a reasonable grade.

Weren't you the one claiming that the sky was falling when the Knicks let Lin go, yet now thier underachieving? comedy

gunsnewing wrote:Im more worried about Miami now that they have size with Birdman and possibly Oden

Really?

Birdman was collecting DNP his last year and Denver and Oden...well...he's Oden. What exactly has he done to be fearful of?

A-?!?!?! Clearly the writers haven't talked to the hatters on this board!!

gunsnewing wrote:Im more worried about Miami now that they have size with Birdman and possibly Oden

Oden has said he won't be signing with anyone this year. Birdman is an energy guy, has been a decent rebounder in the past but, he can't hold a candle to any of our guys and isn't any real scoring threat inside unless he's fed. His rebounding numbers are high enough to concern me so, our size will still be an advantage over them.

I'm more worried about Chicago and Indiana than I am Miami.

The sky did fall when Lin left but a new day rises every morning, the grade on this day is a B+

Wow, B+ is pretty high considering their best player is a loser.

Not worried about Indiana at at. We have their number. Tyson owns Hibbert. We beat them already. We almost beat them the 2nd game without Melo & Felton in a brutually ugly game on their home court.

Both the Bulls and Heat are scary. Don't sleep on Miami they will turn it on. If they haven't already

well done... agree with every point

Im more scared of The Bulls. Im not sleeping on Miami but we match up better against them more than most teams because of depth. I wnat no part of the bulls. They beat us 3 times easily without their best player. I mean for years Boston has had our number but at least when we play Boston the games are close. when we play the bulls they beat us pretty badly
