Knicks · NYK I.Shumpert starter experiment needs to end right away: Shump need to come off the bench (page 1)

Iman S. needs time to get his timing and other areas back & although his minutes are limited
Shump starting brings nothing yet to the table for beginning of Knicks games, whether defensively
or passing & rebounding.

Shump ain't been terrible from ACL its going to take some time
however his starting isn't working yet obvisiously needs to come off the bench again for awhile is best
for the knickerbockers like when in his rookie season.

To be honest the horrid Brewer when he started and Ronnie was going well Brewer added things to Knicks
lineup way back then, but Shumpert isnt even 1/2 of that as yet. Especially in his shooting (poor)
though Shump dont have too many shots/game yet to review anything.

All in all Iman has shot poor and all rest of his game presence has been below avg. at best for the
little time he's in for 4 quarters.

Solely an opinion

Who starts Copeland or White? The answer is to start Amare once Sheed returns

right
either guy can start
Shump presence means something and at least he's healthy

however Iman isnt ready quite yet to contribute anything to team beside's inspiration
its cool but somethings take time, Woodson must realize that starting Shump a normal starter is good for his mindset
however I'd bet Shump would have no issue coming off the bench.

Amare deserves to start

Shump should start and will continue to start....it's like you forgot he just came back after injury and is still being gelled back in and consistently getting better.

Well said OGk. Well said. He's just now returning from injury after missing not only training camp and preseason but also 37 of our first 44 games. And now we're reading threads and/or post's calling for Shumpert to the bench? Ridiculous. We're 5-2 dating back to Shump's return although he hasn't even had a chance to get his feet wet.

Shumpert's going to develop (as our starter) alongside veterans such as Felton, Carmelo, Stoudemire and Chandler. He's our young up and coming 2G prospect/talent. He's our starter. It's up to coach Woodson along with veterans such as Pablo, Felton, Kidd, Melo, Amar'e, Chandler and even J.R to keep this kid focused on playing quality basketball.

Coach Woodson didn't throw Shumpert into the fire in order to come out guns blazing as our starting 2G. Woodson threw Shump into the starting rotation in order to shake off the rust, catch up to the speed of the game, work alongside our starters and/or key players while getting back to form come postseason play.

I knew this would be coming even before Shump came back. He just needs us to be patient, it's going to take a month or two to get back into the swing of things. He's earned that with his play last season, and the sheer effort he put into his rehab.

In the few games that he has played since his return Iman has showed the ability to knock down:

A. 3 pointers
B. Baby jump shots after he gets into the paint.

His D is another topic, but to say he gives less than Brewer in the starting lineup is just not right.

Really?

The fact I Man is on he court at all is a minor miracle. See Derek Rose in Chicago, still testing things carefully. It will take him at least a month, maybe longer, to adapt to the grind.

I Man is matched against elite players with a three month head start in conditioning and getting in a groove. Shump is still in rehab mode.

Coming off major surgery, what did you expect?

Actually Iman is doing ok but Yes I dont get the point of starting him
the initial premise was to boltster the knicks start of games offensively but especially defensively

If guys/stars like D.Rose or Duncan can get hurt then return off the bench for few games which is norm
for any NBAer especially if out of games for awhile It may be better and safer transition

Sure Shump will take time its clear any logical person/fan will note that
however Shump is not adding anything he also may be eventually trying harder, we certainly dont want him hurt again
usually when you play is suffering in some areas you go all out in other areas.

He's a star pending 1 day and a cool story but add's nothing to Knicks right know
its no big DEAL to bring him off bench with same minutes and increase slightly until he's more comfortable with leg
and game play to be back into starting lineup..

He's a gamer but I don't care what sentiment is here, Shump brings zip to Knicks right now
whether we like it or not I aint going to make bunch of excuses on leg, yea yea I get all that ACL and all great he's back.

But at some point you're going to have to play, even down the stretch.
If he is down the road 2 months and still struggling I says same thing I mention here, what was point ? ? of
starting Shump ?

To get some boost to Knicks schemes and overall improvements in start of games
aside from the Sacr. Kings blowout the NY Knicks hasnt started games properly, & by the way Kings had NY down what 18-6 ?
no problem.

That is my point.
This isnt an issue & nor is Shump's fault.

The future of the knicks is Shump. Shump should start now, and continue to start, so he knows what it is like playing with the starters come playoff time.
