Oh, was that a strike shortened year? My bad.
Yes, I remember Felton falling off bad the weeks leading up to the trade.

I don't believe it was...that was last year

definitely worth a listen!

I USED to listen to him every single day at work in my office, but he hit the nail on the head with carmelo... really nailed it..

Live right now...SAS admitting that Lin in the past couple of months is a lot better than Felton.

True, but I find it funny that SAS was killing Lin last year and now has turned around.

gunsnewing @ 2/22/2013 3:13 PM
absolutely but not surprising

He didn't follow the team last year the way we did

Wow, that is a complete 360! Didn't he have some mighty hard words for Lin vs. Felton in the past? From memory he was not kind at all to Lin.

gunsnewing @ 2/22/2013 4:24 PM
"How could Lin have the audacity to......yada yada yada"
"Lin needs to adjust to Melo, not the other way around, who does Lin think he is, he belongs in the Dleague"

"Felton is a baller"
"Felton is a better floor general"

He even said he can't believe he has been thinking about Lin these past 2 months.

WOW.
No living in the US, I don't know who that guy is but he makes sense on so many levels it hurts.

Not beating the Heat in a 7 series? Same with the Pacers? Maybe even the BUlls? I completely agree with that. S o what's the point to this team, if you can't beat anyone of the top teams?

Was that the goal when we made the infamous trade? All of that for... this?

NYKMentality @ 2/22/2013 5:12 PM
He asked what if Brooklyn gets Josh Smith. Well, they didn't. He mocked J.O'Neal while harping all over the fact that Tyson Chandler needs help/toughness down low in order for Melo to slide back down to SF without having to battle it out against larger/stronger PF's. Well, we landed Kenyon Martin.

He's speaking too soon, not letting the cards fall into place. He's talking about a first round exit without talking about our potential first round opponent.

If we get Milwaukee, we can beat those guys come postseason play. Same with Atlanta and Boston with Rondo and Jared Sullinger now out. All this talk about being eliminated during the first round, but unless we fall to the 4th/5th seed I can't see a first round loss.

He's always been a talking tool. Nets getting Josh Smith? Nope. Knicks going after J.O'Neal? Nah. Getting Kenyon Martin along with a 2nd rounder? Yes. I do agree, we need Jason Kidd on the bench sooner rather than later.

Cowherd made some interesting points.

It made me think about the time I enjoyed watching Melo the most, which was during the Olympics when he played with Bron, CP3, DWill, Westbrook. It was lovely watching his game b/c I felt as if Coach K & Mike D utilized him exactly the way he SHOULD be. As pure instant offense. He sat on the wing while Bron & Paul created looks for him, & made baskets. (He actually alluded to this in his interview before the AS game - that Bron will be at point and he'll be sitting on the wing 'doing what he does best'.) The less he has to create his shot, the more potent he is.

I think that Melo can be your go-to guy on a title team but that squad has GOT to have a heck of a playmaker on it. Not necessarily Bron/CP3-level, but somewhere in the realm of Jrue Holiday. A strong 2, as Cowherd said. Someone who will control the tempo of the game and make sure that the offense doesn't become stagnant. (Team stands around watching Melo dribble, dribble, dribble, then make a move.) Someone who can create shots for Melo and take pressure off of him to create them for himself. An actual floor leader.

The only other way is if Melo goes on some kind of crazy Dirk-in-2011 tear and is an offensive juggernaut in the postseason. I tend to think that he's too inefficient for this, especially during playoff basketball when the D is that much tighter. But, w/o a really good playmaker, I think that's the only other way he could lead the Knicks to a 'chip. Going on some kind of insane tear offensively.

Yea I love olympic and allstar game Melo because no defense is played

Remember how great his form was to start the season? Surgical precision, no wasted motion. Melo can still light it up but I don't see the same attention to detail.

He was unstoppable and he was so hot in the first quarter that it freed everybody else up on offense.
Syniko @ 2/22/2013 10:36 PM
SAS was not kind at all to Lin because SAS didn't buy into the Linsanity hype. The Miami game and the post-season 85% thing also didn't help. If you read into it, why would SAS care whether Lin was 85% healthy or not if he didn't care about Lin in the first place. Would SAS have made so much noise over Luke Walton being at 85% and then skipping out on helping his team? Of course not. The point being, SAS knew how valuable Lin was last season. He just couldn't bring himself around to admit it.

It is still odd and weird to see Lin in a Rockets jersey. That is all.

Absolutely. In some ways he reminds me of Ewing only in the sense that he isn't the kind of guy who will lead by getting in a teammates face or rally the troops. When he does lead its by example.

It's the difference between Melo scoring within the flow of offense and allowing the PG to dictate the tempo of the game and his trying to create his own shot nearly every time down with little to no ball movement.

He's really good coming off a screen. Deadly. Why isn't that being utilized more for him? This is partly on the plays being run (or lack thereof) as well.
