Knicks · Priority#1 ONLY if NYK Fails 1st rnd playoffs, Time to give Pat Ewing call on coaching NYK 2013/2014 (page 1)

Priority#1 WIN a Playoff series
Yea yea yea I/we all know about the Dolan stuff and Ewings' buddy my main man Charles 'Chuck' Oakley isn't endearing to Knicks OR
their bright owner JJ 'Dyno-mite' Dolan on recent comments about the Knicks org. & remarks giving D-League team offer as
Disrespectful to Legend HOFer Patrick Ewing which Ew turned down. Can we blame Pat ? Hope JJ Dolan reconsiders Ew some day soon.

http://www.ultimateknicks.com/forum/topi...

Anyhow I/we wish our heroes Knicks the best on their brand new 1 game winning streak We know the whole NBA world states if Knickerbockers do not win a NBA 2013 1st round series the whole season IS A COLOSSAL Failure. *Agreed.

I could care less for NYK Mike Woodson contract going forward OR whatever is on paper, I do respect coach Mike whom done a decent job
more than not BUT I will not feel its Knicks best interests to wait to the ceiling falls in for yr. 2014, 2015 and so forth.

Knicks have nothing to lose by ceasing diplomatic relationships with coach Woodson and putting their personal junk aside & Offer
Knick great Patrick Ewing my man (from jamaica carribean) the Knick chance of a lifetime to coach our beloved Knickerbockers.

Ewing has paid his dues ON & off court, he did his stints with various of NBA teams as a coach-help & also developing BIG men and
centers of known elite status to even non-star players.

Ewing deserves to be a KNICK for LIFE!, And right on Charles Oakley for taking bout' it again Feb 19 when Ewing sat near NYK owner
Dolan during a Knick home game.

What would our Knick Heroes get ? with Ew ?
Well he'd bring his competitive nature and love for winning. Wouldn't settle for non-effort play of roster position guys & knowing
that Ewing learned from Georgetown and all his coaching connections from John Thompson to Pat Riley, Ewing can only improve as a
guy who gave > 100% in NBA for the Knicks.

Ewing would likely bring in his own staff and would talk to guys whether EX Knicks OR EX NBAers to fit REAL needs of the team skills
and players for what I'm sure what Ewing objective would be. Believe you me Ewing would not take on NewYork with the intent of losing
and ya know what? He never EVER won NBA title we all know , he would be driven to do this for his KNICKs a 2nd chance.

That is enough incentive for DJ, to believe one of my heroes Patrick Ewing can "Get the Job Done !" as Ewing would say. *smiles
I feel Ewing would be a great fit, his work ethics, he dont need the $$$ the Knick coaching job would be least cause of the $$$
and knick forum fans whom better ? Can handle ALL this NY media and town pressures than Patrick Ewing eh ?

*Think about that !

Now..now now DJ
Priority #2 would be to dream of meeting sexy Kate Upton in a dream OR anywhere on the earth but I been told keep dreaming bud!

LOL
the best I'd guess to settle on is the 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Magazine edition.

How can this youthful beauty be so stocked & everything so right ! KATE is beyond imagination but I'm glad I'm married and they say you look BUT DON'T TOUCH which is always fine with the DJ.

Wonder if KNICKS can hire KATE for publicity stuff upcoming knicks transition years, Of course the knicks would need the spotlight
much more than Kate Upton correct ?..

*Grins

9 coaches in 12 years and you think a starphuch from the homeland will make everything "Irie"?

You think our failures are from a lack of effort?

DJMuSIC - no thank you.

Sheesh, what's next, a hire Mike Brown thread?

yep another coach
yep

Of Course Knicks need some youth and 3yr period to elapse those contracts

BUT I'm talking about winning

I am not worring about playoffs or when /if Knicks gonna win title in next 2 yrs nope we aint doing that done & fine.

Pat Ewing perhaps shoulda been coach at some point, is my point.

The team if it wins title ? with a guy like Woodson would negate need for coach.
However there isnt any indication Woodson in 1-2 yrs down the road will be correct fit for Knicks
thus why not ?

This aint NFL where you got success or 1-2 or 3 coaches in 40yrs + like my Steelers and so on,
This is the NBA where unfortunately coaches change like the weather.

Thus I'm fine with moving on & let team build on their needs and develop any younger guys OR acquire them,
I am happy with Knicks picking a Guy like Ewing to be part of that process where you do not have to wait too long to become GOOD
or if you're a playoff team already to improve.

Ewing can be coach and part of that process & he's ALL NEWYORK.
Nothing personally on Woodson but Ewing been there done that ALL except win a coveted Championship in the pros. I'd think its important
to Ew and to NewYork, I aint so sure its vital to Woodson whom got a leese and contract for his ups & downs on coaching a nba pro team.

Plus if you're gonna tell me whom is more or less accepting of NOT losing in NY, Ewing has my votes.

This post isnt about Woodson being problem of NY woes to catch up with the Elite, this is about what's right for NYK situations
forthcoming. Coach Woodson is a nice guy and been great here & still is but until the team progresses in all areas players & the
acquisitions, coaching is in the mix as well.

MDA formerly of Phoenix had that opportunity for his contract nearly to the end of it, due to D'antoni respect in nba and coaching resume
Woodson resume is neat but I do not think he needs to be given same rope and Coach Mike D'Antoni. NY Needs success now & near future
as well as respect in the league.

We had that respect with MELO and we're UP & DOWN with losing the respect's success here with Woodson is my point.
Ewing would be given a chance & I'm sure folks will be happy if Knicks success matches Ewing success and drive he had as a Knick.

Sounds like you guys like to settle eh ? It aint about a guy from the homeland either.
Its Ok to support Woodson I respect that.

I also respect Pat Ewing ..for some odd reason on this forum board & NY gets boat of disrespect
its not about even begging for a NBA Job.. The man paid his dues.

We'll let Woodson keep ya'all happy and get the Knicks a seed OR 2 in next 2-3 yrs before we have a brand new team then

Knicks aren't going anywhere anyhow Or anytime soon ? correct ?

You seem to be used to in-eptitude of the expected 'unexpected' results which is NY Mediocrity of Knicks results in a season.

Well I ain't like that ? though respect yo opinion greatly.
Time for that crap to end ..about we'll see Knicks get well Or this OR/That injury gets fixed the Knickerbockers will be fine.

I am happy for Knicks season and success so far
but now to talk /chat about NBA Titles and compete with HEAT for championship this OR next yr needs to stop.

This isnt a championship team ready yet so SAS /ESPN is correct
the Mets-fan notions are prevailing here onto to the Knickerbockers, we want a team to be on the rise to bigger things coming.

Ya' all should want the same
correct ?

Vmart wrote:If the Knicks don't get out of the first round there has to be a lot of changes. Starting with getting rid of the oldies and getting younger players in that have ability. Coaching change I'm not in favor of unless one call is made and that is Phil Jackson.

I agree on ya with Phil J., & NY need if they are interested in near future? to at least make a public offer to Phil
if woodson falters on current Or next yr or so.

But I dont think Jackson would come to NY, cause of Melodrama.

Pat Ewing can deal with that regardless if Carmelo Anthony is here OR not....

The whole NBA got these younger coaches 40s 50s, Ewing deserved to be in the consideration highly as NY looks to get to next
NBA level elite to compete & win, and also stay there for several yrs until they bring coveted NBA championship back to NewYork

The assumption is "Change is good" but its not always for the better.

Over the years we cashed in a lot of Ute to get this team and you don't give up on it overnite to tank 6 years.

Morey (dork elvis) took 6 years to shed the residue trying to win with Yao and McGrady and all that went with that. Not all were bad years mind you but it takes time. Closest we came was right before Isiah got here. It still had more to go but Isiah ramped it up and accerllerated it.

most fans loved the amount of change he bought. It was never dull! Rebuilding is dull.

Rebuild under ewing and we'll run him out of town. Phil Jax has no interest in rebuilding here.

3 years? Thats an eternity. Sorry to crap on your idea. I actually agree with you about going the ute rout but we don't do that here.

Want to rebuild? Its done in Brooklyn, Minny, Wash, Philly San Antone, etc

If the Knicks are eliminated in the 1st round then this team has to be blown up. Sadly, Melo needs to be sent away for this to work.

Its too bad. Fault from lack of effort ? where in the post did it mention anything bout efforts ?
Knicks werent suppose to be 33-20 right now SO we are happy with the record & knick slide down from elite perspective.

Knicks can always do better & it doesnt mean necessarily doing a change for the sake of doing a change.
All I stated was if NY is bounced in 1st round then season is a failure to smart Knick fans locally.

Can love Woodson up & down until the sun come shining in but fair Or unfair he'll be looked at differently into 2013/2014
however this doesnt mean he won't be Knicks coach. BUT if failed playoffs mean failure this season the coach will be on
hotseat.

We're not talking bout Larry Brown, we aint talking bout Lenny Wilkens OR Pat Riley. We aint even talking bout Mike D'Antoni
We're talking about Mike Woodson.

Despite it all I'll tout an ex-Knick whom was more popular than folks give him credit for, thus if Knicks go looking which is
improbable ALL I said was I like Ewing, forget the homeland folks like to kid about here. NYK don't need any more re-thread
coaches OR coaches WHOM get mega-NBA chances in league and has done less than MDA.

So nothing wrong with my nominating Patrick Ewing.

Fact of the matter is its Ok thats thought Knicks are trying to head in the right direction its ok to make up you're mind too
you dont like this guy OR you love that guy! Bunch of Mike D'Antoni lovers here .. I got no problem with that. Good for you!

The MDA situation sure D'antoni got too much heat and too much blame here but folks seem satisfied to blame our KNICKs org for
D'Antoni leaving OR BLAMEs Melo 100% as if MDA suppose to be Knick coach forever.

Similarly as folks want to blame KNICKs 150% for Jeremy Lin leaving and NY not doing enough to satisfy these Knick fans here &
yearning and LOVE that Jeremy Lin remained a Knick, to please you eh ? ?

DJ got no problem with your love for favorite guys, *cool. Just

Jeremy is doing fine but is it more important to have a Guy here in NY ? Than to mimic success & build a title as
other NBA teams try to do ?

We have a Knick owner whom does its best to tick off most Knicks fans but we all drink the tonic of ALL is right in Knickland
24x7.

I am proud of this team but honestly we're in here for a ride to playoffs & out its that simple.

Way to satisfied with mediocrity of coaching, players and so on & so forth. We want to move MELO out at sign of troubles
but coach is ok for our situations.

NY signing older players seems overboard but it doesnt bother DJ 1 bit, especially few of the VETs are around long enough
with some accomplishments.

Even his friends wouldn't hire him....do not want.

Did you know Eduardo Najera is a head coach for the Mavs' D-League squad?

I wonder who will become an NBA head coach first?

Maybe Woodson is the next "riley", or "Larry" but if we keep yanking them we never find out.

Ewing took his job offer as "offensive". That really was telling unfortunately.

Some of us think its a starphuch move by a team that would be looking to satisfy the fan rather than provide the proper product on the floor conducive to winning.

We don't owe him anything and his famous work ethic some how has not translated into a coaching career.

His one star pupil for how many years was Dwight Howard! Its not a great shining example. I can't imagine its Ewings fault Dwight is not a complete player or adopted ewings intensity but lets be real for a minute, thats what your kind of hoping Ewing would bring to a team. There is no evidence Ewing has shined as an assistant and when given a head coach opportunity he balked. Allan Houstan is the GM of the Development team and has to spend some time in Erie. Allan is a favorite of Dolan but thats how it works in MSG and other places. You got one guy despite his incredible wealth willing to take the less than glamorous job and another who won't. I would imagine that does not sit well with Dolan. I don't usually agree with Dolan but this one is kind of easy to understand.

See I think players like Melo are the players that Phil Jackson reaches and gets the most out of. Besides the bling speaks louder than any words. With Phil there can be only one outcome if the team doesn't perform that's the players.

DurzoBlint wrote:wow, you are really serious....Wow. OK, whatever, I'd rather bring back Van-Gundy if we're going to do a nostalgia signing

Actually, if Ewing gets named HC, I would not be surprised if he asks JVG to help him coach and come in as his asst coach.

and he would know if the teams does poor Jeff might take over, but then again JVG aint coming with Dolan as the owner.

I do think Phil can get more out of Melo but with Phil its not really about the star players despite the obvious, his teams were about the other players. Jordan and Kobe were Melo type players beofre he molded them but it was about the rest of the roster that made them work in harmony. Amare and Tyson don't really fit.

We can argue it all day but I think the window for phil is closed. As fans we keep calling for a new coach and a new hope.

I will admit, MSG works us pretty good in to believeing.

Reality is: 9 coaches over 12 years. Van Gundy succeeded because he was here a long time as assistant and had the trust and respect of his players.

He bailed but at least he did not mail it in.
