You know the team was +6 with him in the game and -12 with him out?
Did you watch the game?
yeah. Novak is one of the best in the game at spreading the offense.
Then you saw what happened when Novak was put in?
We are in dire need of Delonte West. Failton cannot cut it.
TeamBall wrote:I thought for sure that with Camby and Kmart on the team, Woodson would stop with the small ball nonsense. I never thought he'd just not play either of them.
They cancelled practice yesterday, so that's why they didnt play. Agree with other people- no way Amar'e should only play 21mins vs the Heat.
Frustrating loss, but not the devastating blow we feared. Still have hope, but we need either Felton or JR or Novak to play well to beat the heat.
And although it hasn't shown up in the boxscore lately, I like what I'm seeing from Shumpert.

yes - Novak was great today (based on the BS +/-)
You serious?

Felton sucks!
Thats why we suck!
U always watching an alternate game..Dude had zero impact on the game ..u are so consume with the dude..He was non existent and barely played the second half and all u do is chirp...
30 minutes
9 points on 3-8, 2 assists, 4 turnovers
you are right - zero impact
hahahahahahahaha
Non existent is more applicable ...JR had big turnovers...Knicks were leading when Novak entered in the seconding half...U r so obsessed with Felton..He barely played the second half and make two big lay ups and if I look it up, it may have been his only attempts in the second half..I could find at least three big reasons why we lost before I get to Felton...U have a serious case of Felton on the mind...
Yes I do. I hate that we are fukkin stuck with this stiff as our starting PG
Keep defending him though, it does make you look loyal, yet very ignorant

Yeah, the team outscored Miami
mrKnickShot wrote:GustavBahler wrote:The only thing that really bothers me about this loss is JR making that bad play at the end. What gave Miami the lead was the best player on the planet taking over the game. We were in it right up until the end against the defending champs who were taking this game seriously. Camby is getting better, Kmart is getting ready. If we had those two on tap I believe it would be a different story IMO. Not saying the odds would be in our favor in a 7 game series but it would be a competitive either way.
as long as we have no guard play, we will have no chance to win even one series
Felton got some key buckets down the stretch, the kind of clutch play we haven't seen since the first couple of months. Kidd had his best game in a while, coming off the bench looks like a smart move. I agree guard play is essential, I saw some good things today for a change. Hope they can keep it up.

Exactly why those silly stats have zero meaning...

I watched about 80% of the game (and even posted here during it).

Felton had zero impact on this game - we did not lose because of him. He is a very viable starting PG
TeamBall wrote:I thought for sure that with Camby and Kmart on the team, Woodson would stop with the small ball nonsense. I never thought he'd just not play either of them.
This instead we got worse going from Kidd who can at least handle the ball and make smart passes and hit open threes to James Frickin White with Amare a $20mil bench player

Novak always gets blasted on these boards, but he usually leads the team in +/- despite not really doing anything- it always puzzles me.

YUP!!! Thing that kills me is why he trusts JR so much with the Ball. WHAT has he ever done to make you think he has the brains and instincts to make good decisions with the ball???
Also when the energy level starts to dip he doesn't crack the whip and get them motivated again. Sometimes they need to push the ball just to keep the energy up. It's not about running, but just about playing with more energy. When they give it to JR and he starts pounding the ball into the ground and slowing down the ball movement it kills energy and makes the opposing defense stronger.

Didn't you even state how +/- is a bad barometer?
You are too funny (in the not funny way)

He's impressive in all the advanced stats. +/- certainly not the best stat but I don't ignore it either.

He usually lets the momentum completely slip away before he decides to call a timeout

I know you did but how could you not see that Novak was a nonfactor and then Miami took over once Woodson put him in late in the 3rd. Still not the reason we lost. We were up 4
We lost because Woodson sat Amare and Shumpert the entire 4th quarter and Wade went off and we bacame the 1 on 5 Melo team we have become so accustomed to being. See last years playoffs near sweep to Miami

Melo is a -7....Why even put Melo in the game...We should start Novak..

A barometer is good or bad depending on what it's attempting to measure - it can't be good or bad in a vacuum. (That would be attorney - like black and white thinking!)
If the claim is simply "the team got killed when Novak was in" then +/- is the exact stat you would look at (just as a matter of logic) to see what the score was when the player was in.
As explained above, I would never use it above WS, WP or any other validated measure when assessing a player's specific contributions though.

I wouldn't say always. There's nothing + about being torched on defense. If he is not hitting wide open three he is useless

Novak's production in wins vs losses is also startling as well. He's a guy that we need to get going to win games.
