i may be the only one but I am not that mad at this lose. It just showed me that this team has a little something extra in the tank. Yes, this team is not perfect but this team can go far in the playoffs.

I want to see what Martin can give this team though. It is time to bump the token line ups and start the best players though.

yes - Novak was great today (based on the BS +/-)

You serious?

Thats what happens when you don't watch the game and watch the boxscore

I watched about 80% of the game (and even posted here during it).

Didn't you even state how +/- is a bad barometer?

You are too funny (in the not funny way)

A barometer is good or bad depending on what it's attempting to measure - it can't be good or bad in a vacuum. (That would be attorney - like black and white thinking!)

If the claim is simply "the team got killed when Novak was in" then +/- is the exact stat you would look at (just as a matter of logic) to see what the score was when the player was in.

As explained above, I would never use it above WS, WP or any other validated measure when assessing a player's specific contributions though.

So if Novak was in the game and a non factor while the knicks stinky guards actually knocked down a few shots and made a good run

then

Novak was in the game again and the stinkys missed shots and Novak killed them by him missing wide opens and playing no defense - does not always show up.

reading box scores, I can see how you drum these up - watching momentum change - not a good picture

Should we be playing Novak 40 minutes a game since he is so great in the advanced stats?

Maybe

That's not what's been happening all season. It's the exact opposite coincidentally.

should we start him?

I don't care who starts - total min are what matters. I'd rather see Novak getting more min and Shumpert fewer at SF.

He is a 3pt specialist that can't hit open threes and the other aspects of his "game" are truly non-existent. He's not like Amar'e who can rebound and occasionally intimidate people with his size or get weak-side blocks, he can't do anything but brick 3's. I hate seeing this piece of TRASH on the court.

And why is everyone hating on Felton? I think he had a nice game, he almost brought us back into it at the end.

Felton had a nice game?

because he hit 2 4th quarter layups when the game was practically out of reach?

HE SUCKED!!

IMO it's not Felton, but JR handling the ball too much. I understand we need to stretch things with Prigs hurt, but still. JR is awful at PG.

yellowboy90 @ 3/3/2013 4:13 PM
Also, why do the refs seem to put a limit on Melo and FTs? "WHat he shot how many already ok boys swallow that whistle."

Not all on Novak but his missing those wide-open shots hurt.

RE: his strong +/-, he must be drawing out the defense which leads to easier opportunities for interior baskets. No matter how much he struggles, the defense is still going to key onto him b/c of his rep.

What happens is that Melo minutes needs to be watch and Martin needs to play more minutes because Melo will need his energy taking extra pg duties. He is and has been one of the better Pnr ball handlers.

The game was not out of reach when he hit those shots. To claim anything otherwise is revisionist nonsense. Looking at his stat sheet the numbers are low, so I'll give you that, but I don't remember him hurting us besides that one ridiculous triple-teamed spin lay-up.

nixluva @ 3/3/2013 4:16 PM
To be fare the Heat are better right now. They have full CHEMISTRY with each other and always know what they want to do. We are still trying to figure it out. The Knicks still don't have their rotations down and we don't always have chemistry out there. The Heat are just ahead of the Knicks in terms of their team play. That gives the an advantage late in games. They're able to execute at a higher level.
MSG3 @ 3/3/2013 4:17 PM
Big factor in this game was not getting Melo the ball in the 4th and STAT sitting. Tyson Stat Melo should have been out there. I'm losing confidence in Woodson every game. Hope I'm wrong.

smith took 18 shots and made 5. of those 18 shots 14 shots were beyond the arc. and 0 FTA. what does that tell you?

No your not, he baffles me at times like crazy, he has a deep bench and plays 8 guys, no prigs, no martin, no camby, and no shump and amare for most of the 4th qtr.

He is still trying to figure his line up out, instead playing according to match ups, which is a luxury when you have a deep bench but he is such a dick when comes to reconizing who to play and when.

Prigs is not hurt. His phatom injury allowed Woodson to move Kidd to the bench. Woodson fears Kidd

That he's feast or famine per usual. That he's basically an athletic chucker with a low basketball IQ.

Truthfully, the game shouldn't rest in his hands despite his game-winners/clutch baskets. He's too inconsistent in his play & decision-making. Woody should have had Amar'e out there down the stretch.

Its more like his injury forced Woodson to move Kidd to the bench. I doubt he really wanted to do it.
