Dammit! I just got home from a birthday party. Some one from my wife's family and it started at 1 PM so I only saw a little of the game. I tried to get out of going but you know how that goes. Wow I have to read all of these posts to find out what happened.

Oh well can't undo the trade(why or why did we trade for Melo)

The thing I hate about Miami unless you blow them out I'd say 95% of the time if the game is within a possession or two whether they are down or up in the last few minutes of a game you're not beating them. They either will make plays and/or get help from refs or they make teams mis execute.

well

look who shows up

I was doing laundry all the while this game was on. Matter of fact I missed a couple of things web related that almost cost me some money because of doing so. Has nothing to do with outcome at all. Just finished folding up some Hanes Boxers and taking a lint picker upper to some garments....

Melo and J.R. were suspect down the stretch

Edit: On Boxer Brand...l

Melo ... ha!

1 on 9 aint easy - you need to watch the whole game to understand the progression

1 on 9 has everything to do with how 1 plays the game and his overall approach. You see even Lebron was somewhat suspect down the stretch offensively but he makes up for the overall shortcomings because he's a COMPLETE PLAYER...so he beat us with his passing and his defense when his offense wasn't quite as sharp. Melo only knows how to beat teams by scoring...

This game also proved when it 's on the line you don't need that "GO TO SCORER" you need that "GO TO PLAYER" who can beat you with "TRIPLE THREAT" play...

SCORING
PASSING
DEFENDING

of course i agree. echoing that, van gundy made an observation about lebron when he went something like 5-14 the other night-- he said a player can have a bad shooting night and still have played a good game. in other words shooting poorly does not mean you are playing poorly, the implication being that you can play all facets of the game. lebron does and melo does not.

simple!

You know you just couldn't let it go!! You just had to bring up you boyfriend Melo. Melo is doing his job. what we need is others to bring up thier game. How ever I'm so glad you are comparing Melo and LeBron with the same breath. Everyone knows what and who you are and the hate you spew on Melo.

By "triple threat" player I assume you mean 5-tool player? Triple threat is a position when you receive the ball. As for a player that can TAKE OVER games with scoring, passing and defense, lebron is one of his kind, aside from Kobe who only passes when he feels like it, and MJ, who's 50. What you expect out of melo is an unrealistic ideal that two people out of the 450 athletes in the nba are capable of.

I think he has the capability [to play all facets of the game], but he rarely pulls it all together for an entire game or stretch of games.

But I'll give him that he's at least being SMARTER on offense, in the way he has been getting to the line of late.

Today in the first half, he had his shot and still went to the line at an epic rate, which was beautiful. This tailed off in the second half, but I felt as if the refs were swallowing the whistle on him to a degree.

Hurts the team when he's only grabbing 2 boards, though. Would like for him to have more than 3 assists also.

Actually Melo got several favorable calls in the game... ones any ordinary player would never receive. Also I get tired of fans speaking of Melo's abilities as if he's in his 3-4th yr in the league....like he's showing flashes of playing a COMPLETE GAME, like he's almost there, like he's almost figured it out....Nell Carter....GIMMIE A BREAK

Listen Alvin Simon Theodore has been in the league 10yrs now if he hasn't figured out how to put all his abilities together in a game on a consistent basis he never will.

This is his best shot to go as far as he can go. Problem is there are teams like the Heat, Pacers, and probably the Bulls(Rose Returning Healthy) who each have 1 if not 2 COMPLETE PLAYERS on their team. Melo is also playing with equally volatile knuckleheads in Smith and Felton a perfected recipe of FAILURE.

I wish I'd seen the conversation.

I mentioned this in the other thread this summit was underway....

Which btw the MIT Sloan Summit is taking place at present and trust I bet he has everyone's ears now...GMs are there probably jaws dropped asking him "How Do You Do It"

Interesting Hollinger made comments about the SU cameras in arenas capturing player movement on the court and how they go about getting things accomplished in a game. Hollinger doesn't feel the cameras are as big a tool yet but it sounded more like sour graping on his part because Memphis hasn't implemented them yet(likely due to funding) and because he isn't behind pioneering it. Nevertheless the game is about to change no more STAR STAR GOT TO HAVE DAT STAR STAR GO TO GUY STAR STAR STAR....your productivity and how you go about getting it will determine much of a players STARDOM. Things they are discussing at the summit also involve a player's synergy with other teammates and their overall psychological make-up.

Yes I was going to sub out TRIPLE THREAT with QUINDRUPLE THREAT or 5-TOOL as you said but to be honest there are similar departments/umbrella or overlap so I felt TRIPLE THREAT sufficed..

Take for instance Lebron beat us....

Shooting/Driving/Passing/Blocking Shots/Steals..... but as you can see of these 5 categories 2 sets of them fall under SCORING and DEFENDING what's left over is PASSING....therefore what's left over is TRIPLE THREAT....but yes Lebron AK47'd us today 5-TOOLED us...or TROLLED us or proved there are on 2 real MVPs the rest are just standing on the sideline saying...I GOT NEXT

He could have easily had 8 assists today if he wasn't surrounded by brick-layers

How can a team win with zero guards who can actually shoot???????????????????

Not sure what your issue is with my post. I said that he's been smarter on offense of late and got to the line plenty in the first half. That's a fact. He didn't do this much in the second half but I felt the refs swallowed the whistle on him to some degree. That's my opinion, obviously.

Did not call Melo a complete player. I said there have been times in which he's shown the capability but it's rare where he puts it together for a complete game or for stretches of games. I'm not analyzing him as 3rd or 4th year player, I'm speaking on him as the player he is.

But, yes, he does play with knuckleheads, JR being the one most prominent.

What is your issue with what I've written?

This game was a tough one to swallow. Giving up a 16 point lead at home...just doesn't cut it...I don't care if it was the Heat.

Knicks shouldn't have lost it, but I knew they would, because we were shaky to start and relying too much on Kidd treys

better team won.. Look at the Heat and Knicks last couple of months. There isnt much to discuss. You can beat down *how* we lost but at the end of the day their roster, coaching, players... all superior to ours. They are the champs and we are the team who didnt need Jeremy Lin.

Yeah. It was a great game. Heat won 14 straight. Couple of plays here and there and/or lebron doesn't become superhuman the last 5 plays. Different story.

To even bring up Lin is obviously just a joke. Lol.

Game tonight. Lets start to see more amare going forward please.

Since you refer to Amare as the best player on the Knicks shouldn't it be his era in your eyes...Two years and counting, Melo is the only guy showing up for this team in these battles and you choose to knock him...Makes perfect sense...How are the Nets anyway??

Refs were pretty brutal to us this game, few key possessions towards the ebd of the game were decided against us, on our home court. Not to make excuses but it was pretty blatant.
