somewhere in between? i think they are better than the 500 ball that they have been playing but i also think that there are some issues that need to be attended to before they could really make a run at the finals. That being said, this team kind of has the feel of the '07 and '11 NY Giants
We are 36-21. You are what your record says you are. We're on pace to win 50+ which is good, but not on the level of Miami and OKC. The most important question is can whether this team can get to the ECF or not. I believe that answer to be yes.

Knicks can probably beat anyone in the playoffs, and they can certainly lose to anyone. The way we defend Ellis and Jennings could drop a combined 60 a night on us. Anything can happen.

ECF? Why is winning just 2 playoff series the baramoter? That would mean 2 total series wins in the 3 year Melo-Amare era.
Championship would me only 4 series win. Total failure

The barameter for a team that hasn't won a playoff series in 10 years should be to win a playoff series. We just need to move in the right direction. It is not championship or bust. If you are in the 2nd round you don't blow it up when your top players are still in their primes. I just want to be in the mix every season because one of those season things will fall into place to put this team in contention.

with most of the big contracts up in 2 more seasons after this do you resign all, most, 1, none? at some point the FO is gonna have to decide is it worth investing further if they feel they cant progress.

You sign Melo for the simple fact that you aren't going to find someone better. It's a star's league and even though it's up for debate how much of a star he is, you still do it because there are so few. Chandler will depend on how much he demands, and everyone else is probably unlikely. This team needs to treat Melo like Pierce and continue to build young talent around him, knowing that eventually you will develop a Rondo and/or have the assets to acquire more stars to put next to him.

I'm giving Miami their due respect. I wish the barometer for the Knicks was championship or bust, but reality is different. The Knicks once again find themselves in a position where there is one team in the conference standing in their way. The Heat are the only team that it would take a miracle to beat. I like the Knicks against anyone else.
Frankly, I'm ok with where the franchise is. I was sick of being a lottery team and I don't know that this isn't as good of a roster we could have put together post LeBron decision. Besides OKC who else would you rather be a fan of based on roster this year? Indiana isn't going anywhere. Chicago isn't either without Rose. Houston? Fun team but need some work before they're an upper echelon team.

Hopefully they pay him like pierce. Not 20mil per
This team is soft. Physically and mentally. They can play so much better but they don't put in the effort. I don't know what number to throw out there. Right now they are playing similar to a .500 team.

Yes, this is definitely the case with this team. They have a high ceiling and a low floor.

They don't have a high ceiling with a bunch of aging veteran role players and Mike Woodson as the coach.
