Post-season with Melo: 1-8

Love the way people post Melo's playoff record with us, as though he should have single handedly beaten the championship Heat (ill Tyson, no Amar'e, no Lin, no Baron Davis, no Shumpert), and the Celtics (no Amar'e, no Billups, nothing else on the roster)- most of the supporting cast he was left with aren't even in the nba anymore, but yeah, if you just post the numbers then it makes him look worse so just hope no one remembers the facts!
I'm not a big fan of Melo, but come on...

Yeah Melo was playing all alone for 2 years in a row in the playoffs as a low seed. He needed to score 45 a game for us to even have a chance and be in the game. Can't blame him one bit when Fields, Novak, Douglas, and Bibby are his supporting players.

I never said the playoffs were fully his fault. It's a small sample that deserves much less weight than the regular season.

Anthony is a player who has proven in his career he will get you to a 50-win season and the 1st round of the playoffs in nearly every year regardless of his supporting cast. Very few players in the league can do that. It is up to us to find supporting players who can help take that next step. I thank him for leading us to the playoffs and fighting when others were hurt. I don't blame him for any losses.

His teams over the past 6 years have also played .600 ball in games he's missed, though (sixty plus games). So getting them to 50 wins isn't saying much.

6-6 without Ray. I'd like to look into the Amare one when I get a chance. It's not gonna look pretty for Amare though!

Teams missing superstars still perform well because they are confident and the energy level picks up. You see that with the Celtics now. That is typically a direct effect of the superstar's effect on the culture. With someone like Melo who missed games often, but didn't stay out for long periods of time, those teams typically don't drop in performance in the short term. So it can also be said that those teams were also successful when he missed games because of his overall impact on the team.

And Tyson has more win shares and a better ws percentage than anyone else on the team. We're really a better team without him, too. We should dump both of them now, while their value is high. Give me draft picks and cap space, or give me death!
I finally see the light!
Yes because every draft pick turns into a star and every team that rebuilds thru the draft becomes a contender soon after.
I look on the Sacramento Kings, Detroit Pistons, and Minnesota Timberwolves with envy- I wish we could rebuild with draft picks just like them!

Or Rondo may be a good but overrated player. Or it may just be a small sample. One case is not compelling evidence. I can just as easily cite how bad the Clippers were without Paul.
