Knicks · "This West Coast Trip Will Be One Of Our Finest Hours" (page 1)

Back to fundamentals and the type of "who knew?," Knicks basketball that makes everyone shake their heads in disbelief.

While the chicken-liver hearted run in circles, rehashing the past with negatory nonsens, the bold and the beautiful... the kung fu jedi warriors stand defiant... clutchng their Marcus Camby Sheik Towels to their hearts with vice-like grips. "Hear me now and believe me later ..."

The Answer Man is ALWAYS here to...pump.. (Clap)... You up!

Release the hounds!

Again you bring the truth about the true team philosophy that teased us early on the 1st 2 months , only to become as fleeting as a McDonald's big mac coupon that ended Feb 28 on March 1st.

These guys are professionals and this road trip will make those on the border to Mexico, to come back home to good ole Knickland USA to give their full allegiance back to the team and coaching staff like they did in the beginning.

Until then J R keep on swishing, Kmart keep on dissing(B.S.) While the rest of the team plays out their roles to the T.

We'll be watching you guys playing on the left coast, for those who visit UK. GO NY GO NY GO.

One of our captains, coming out onto the floor...the opponents hang their heads...
Fables will be born...

Jus' like I pictured it! Skyscrapers, and everything!

jrodmc - did i mention that you rock?

Oh, how The Answer Man adores the classic white warmups. If there was ever an old school look to bring back.... If he had a set, The Answer Man would wear them everywhere.

Orange and Blue Stripes

So cut it out! Cut it out! Cut it out! The hell's the matter with you somberettas? Stupid! We're all very different people. We're not Watusi. We're not Spartans. We're Knicks fans, with a capital 'K', huh? You know what that means? Do ya? That means that our teams have been kicked out of more playoffs series than any NBA franchise in the world. We are the wretched refuse. We're the underdog. We're mutts! Here's proof: his nose is cold! But there's no animal that's more faithful, that's more loyal, more loveable than the mutt. Who saw Patrick miss the finger roll against the Pacers?" Who cried when that shot rolled out at the end?
[raises his hand]

Nalod: *sarcastically* Nobody cried when Patrick missed that shot? I'm sure.
[hands are reluctantly raised]

The Answer Man: I cried my eyes out. So we're all dogfaces, we're all very, very different, but there is one thing that we all have in common: we were all stupid enough to sign up for Ultimate Knicks. We're mutants. There's something wrong with us, something very, very wrong with us.

Something seriously wrong with us - we're fans. But we're freakin KNICKS fans! We've been kicking ass since the NBA was founded! We're 2561 and 2586! Now we don't have to worry about whether or not we practiced or Carmelo's or Shumpert's or Amare's knees. We don't have to kvetch about what we do if we lose in the first round... or whether Coach Mike Woodson is back next season, he is here now and he wants for JR to go crazy good not crazy bad. All we have to do is to be the great subway-riding New Yorker that is inside each one of us.

Now do what I do, and say what I say. And make me proud.

Dee-fense .... (Clap, clap)

Don't feed wild, morbid animals. It only makes them more dependent on the content of your garbage cans.

Who didn't cringe like a beaten stray when we were starting Chris Dudley...Chris Dudley....yes, Chris Dudley... repeatedly against the Twin Towers of Tonio in the Finals of '99? Wait, let me restate that all you "but he was an offensive rebounding machine" types. ...when we were PLAYING Chris Dudley...Chris Dudley...yes, Chris Dudley...repeatedly in the NBA Finals.

Who cried and moaned and wanted anything but watching Charlie football in your starting backcourt?

Who still wonders what the effing hell JVG thought he was doing sucking face with Zo's foot?

Who looked away from the TV repeatedly when Hubie would look blankly down the end of the bench and put in Ken Bannister...or Eddie Lee Wilkins...

This is our team. You may not have seen a championship since you stopped soiling your pampers. You may have suffered incredibly with our pathetic IT-zombie-brained owner. You may still wake up screaming seeing Louie Orr trying to dunk.

It's not brain damage to be a Knicks fan. Fandom isn't liking what works and wins. That's pragmatism. That's mutual funds hedge fund short sale options trading. It may be just that you love a particular sport. But that's not team fandom. You're here and posting because at some point in your past, you decided, yeah, that's my team. The other goobers in your homeroom would be sporting Bulls sheehit and Rockets sheeit and Lakers sheehit and Celtics sheeeit and Pistons sheeit. But not you. You were staying with your team. Brain damage? I don't think so.

Loyalty. Faithfulness. Honor. For some, they are just a punchline to Mooby homerism. Fables are made of crap like that. It's for little kids who oooooh and ahhhhh whenever Derek comes up to bat. But it's certainly not sophisticated and it's certainly not going to pass muster on a spreadsheet filled with Strat-o-metrics. Not when there are soooooooo many other choices available in this land of the Free with Purchase and Brave New World Order.

I am a Knicks fan, and a player of basketball you sons a beeyatches! The witness is excused!

Great posts!

My wife asked me why we not watching so many games: I told her im just chilling a bit getting ready for the playoffs.

She rolled her eyes!

"Whats up with Lin?" she asked. I drew diagrams, posted pictures, used string to connntect the theory and then made an Excel spread sheet of his contract and why it affects the knicks vs. Rockets.

She rolled her eyes!

She asked why not root for BKN? Knuggs? Rockets?

I told her the knicks are like a Tatoo and it won't come off!

She asked: "like a stain?"

Yeah, like that too!

Im going to bed early these days, skiing on the weekends and renovating a bathroom in my "spare" time. Tore my Hamstring 10 weeks ago (type 2 tear) playing tennis and it hurts like a mutherphucher! I can ski a few hours but it hoyt!

Not much to talk about really about the knicks. Why tell fables when the games will tell the truth?

When OJ took the White Bronco for spin the knicks lost their lead. Its never been the same.

When JVG was Mournings ankle bracelet I was more like "WTF"?

When The Spurs tore up the 99' team I was happy to have just made the finals! I hoped but could not believe in that team.

“You’d like to win them all, that’s the goal. “We’re taking them one at a time. I just want to see us compete and make sure that we put ourselves in a position to win. I think if we do that, we have five games, and if we come back over .500, I'm happy. That’s a successful road trip. If we win them all, then I’m really happy.”

- Mike Woodson

“When we heard about Amar’e, we were taken aback, but we still had a job to do and that’s to go out there and play. Other guys have to step up and we did that (Saturday)”. It helps because we did play without Amar’e before, but we would love to have Amar’e back, we know that. The big thing now for us is to get Melo back coming up, and go out on this West Coast trip and try to come back with a positive record.”

- Jason Kidd

"Everybody just needs to get in their right positions, and take the bulk of sharing the ball and scoring the ball. It shouldn't be all on J.R. Smith, it shouldn't be Raymond Felton. Cope [Chris Copeland] should step up, James White should step up. I think it's an opportunity for other guys to show that they can do just as well on this team if they get an opportunity."

so far so good Earl. Good job

Word is that our offense is not the problem. We are focusing on keeping teams under 100. Check.

Anyone else just love the starting lineup?

James "EU" White - Huh?
I mean "I can't shoot (our SG)" Shumpert
Tyson "putback lobs only" Chandler
Raymond "a bargain at this price" Felton
Carmelo "All star" Anthony

GS just handed us our lunch and more medicine with all the Knicks players over in Denver on the way. Luckily we don't play Houston anymore (this year).

Yes, we are competing for a championship.

Wait, it's just one game...
