That Carmelo Anthony trade was pretty good.

Now since it's already been established earlier in this thread that the DLee for Stat "deal" was worse than a wash, tell me the move that might have been involved in the dramatic increase in winning percentage?
Hint: It wasn't the the Chris McNealy signing.
Ur wasting your time..There is one reason we can't compete with the Heat and that's the 20 mil tied up with Amare..Swap Amare with Cris Paul and we can compete with Miami...So therefore it's a great trade..
Swapping Chris Paul for a guy that can't even play would make any good team in the league a contender. You can't wave your magic wand and swap amar'e for anyone you want, the NBA doesn't work like that. If you're going to speculate about what could have been without Amar'e's contract, then you have to consider how his presence on the team influences the FO decisions made afterwards. Considering Amar'e and Melo are similar-type players (mainly scorers) that don't complement each other, the point could made that Amar'e makes the Melo trade worse, simply by his incongruity with Melo. You can't isolate Amar'e from the equation because his presence affects the value reaped by the trade (Amar'e's redundant skill-set hurts Melo's value, which makes the melo trade less favorable)..
of course you are 100% correct. i will add that recently what i find specious and therefore ludicrous criticism of the amare deal. such criticism removes any consideration of those hard-to-grasp, esoteric notions such as "time," "sequence of events," and "cause and effect" from any consideration.
amazing these posters can promulgate this material with a straight face. stockholm syndrome.

Please consider these factors the next time you suggest that Melo should have waited to become a Knick. Ignoring the cba and looming lockout, the nuggets motivation to get something for anthony unlike the Raps and Cavs with bosh and lbj, Melo's desire to have a new contract under the old cba and other teams motivation to acquire Melo, including the Nets.
And if James Harden was serious about winning a championship he would have taken less money and agreed to the Thunders offer. Oh wait, I forgot we hold Melo to different standards to any other player.
Harden hadn't even earned his first big contract yet. Not comparable.

Talk about moving the goal posts! It is pretty much the same thing- There's nothing wrong with a player seeking to maximise their money and security. I'd of loved to have picked up Melo for free, but I get why these players always go for the money first. Doesn't mean Harden or Melo are bad people who don't want to win.

Tell Durant and Westbrook that, they both signed 5 year MAX extensions.
But yeah Harden isn't allowed to get his.

Actually, I think Westbrook signed for less than he could have (I'm relying on memory here). But you've missed my point- Harden can get his, Melo can get his too. Both are probably pretty confident they can win a championship on their new teams.

Westbrook has a max, but I thought your post was indicating that harden didn't want to win because he wanted his money too.
My apologies on that if incorrect.
Tyson Chandler was a good trade but the amnestied was a bad move
Especially considering, we didn't have to pick up Billup's contract to begin with, but would have to pay him 3-4m to buy him out
outside of getting picks to offload salaries, I would have to say
Sprewell
Camby *from Toronto*
Mutumbo was a pretty good trade for a horrible Knick's team at the time
Yep, it is been that long....
We have been getting 3 quarters for every dollar in trades and happy with the acquisitions
So why would any GM give us 4 quarters for a dollar
DW tried his best to get us out if this mode but Dolan insisted to step in as his BOSS
Unloading Charles Smith to the Spurs in 1995-96 was an awesome move. It helped us clear up the cap space to acquire Houston, Childs and LJ. Dave Checketts was one hell of a manager. The dude never just sat back. He was aggressive in making move that helped the team contend. I guess Ernie Grunfeld deserves some credit too lol
Getting anything more than a cup of coffee for a trade involving Jerome James was the steal of the century!
On February 19, 2009, James was traded by the Knicks along with Tim Thomas and Anthony Roberson to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Larry Hughes.
Komives and Bellamy for Debuschure
Cazzie for Lucas.
