Oh and Lebron can't win with just good role players proven with his time in Cleveland. Jordan won time and time again with good role players and Scottie and had the best reg season in nba history going 72 and 10 ... Something ill never forget... I don't see Lebron doing that. I'd give Lebron way more credit if he stayed in Cleveland and actually won..
Gotta go with Briggs on this one! Don't understand how people say LBJ couldn't handle the era of hand checking. Dude is 6'9 260, he would've adjusted, trust me! Not only that, image LBJ hand checking with the defense he already plays! I know it's blasphemy to say ANYONE is better than MJ, but this dude can do it ALL! The only flaw in his game is his hairline. That being said, if we gutted our team for him instead of Melo, I would've of understood and supported that.
I'm sorry but Lebron and mj shouldn't even be put in the same sentence... Come back to me when Lebron is 35 and has five rings and is going for number 6 like Jordan then we compare.

And also when he is not a woman, because Jordan was Da Man

Give me a game 7, down by 1, and I'll take Jordan every time and he will win 8 or 9 out of 10 times. LeBron might win 5 out of 10. LeBron is an incredible talent and probably will go down as one of the top 5 players of all time. But he's not Jordan. If he has some dramatic postseason battles where he is victorious and the reason for the victories, and matches MJ's clutchness over the next 5 years, I will happily rethink my stance.
You get the benefit of hindsight and the Legend that was Jordan which was pounded in our heads. He was epic and the best of his generation and before.
Jordan has his "moments" but we only see the highlights to galvanize the legend.
I use Wilt because in his prime he was unstoppable and the best player in the game. Not the best "winner" or "finisher" perhaps.
Maybe Lebron does not have resume via "chips". Jordan did not win his first until he was 27 either and "clutch" was not tatoo'd on him yet.
Jordan might have had the better career, but Lebron is a bigger, faster player with better vision and he shoots over 50% now.
Focus on "better career".
But if you measure by "career" then Bill Russell is better than Jordan. 2 NCAA mens championships to his gaudy NBA total.

During those years the Knicks gave MJ and the Bulls everything they could handle and even more. Taking them to 7 games everytime and MJ and Pippen did foul Smith is was plain to see but the refs never called it. Had it been MJ on the other side he would have gotten the call. I didn't like MJ back then. You know he would carry 5 - 10 cell phones with him on the road. Who would need all those cell phones.
Oh and I think LeBron is better than MJ hands down and as a matter of fact the players in this era are like on something very healthy like maybe dear anther juice?
We will soon find out next season

I agree I hated mj back in the day but you gotta give a man his due credit... Mj did get all the calls it drove me nuts
i dont see the same competitiveness in james yet. the desire to win, bury guys. he may get there. for folks using age, consider that james came out as a teen, and jordan retired at 30, and went to unc for 3 years. service time is a better measuring stick if time is to be used.
Another reason this thread is at high level of absurdity...... if Lebron>Jordan(many feel Jordan is G.O.A.T.) then how come BRIGGS never creates threads of how we can acquire Lebron come 2014(his potential free agent year)?
Things That Make You Go Hmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!

This is the key thing that Jordan has hands down better than Lebron: the will to win.
Clutch, yes. But Jordan wanted to win like no one else in the game. And I think it's what separates Wilk from Russell. And I think that is still true today. Jordan at his present age would want to win more than any of today's players. Now I think Lebron took a big step forward this year as far as his will to win.
Well...I had a lot of respect for you Briggs, as far as your basketball knowledge...until you started claiming Lebron over Jordan.
I don't care how big his muscles are. Has anybody ever questioned Jordans ability to perform in the clutch? Has anybody ever questioned his IQ?
Jordan did too much for the game of basketball for me to say anybody is better than him. Plus it's way too early....Lebron is still shaping history!

I don't know how people can say this.. Obviously Jordan's resume is greater - He's played longer and his career is done. But can you honestly say by looking at both of them, that Jordan is the better basketball player? I'm not talking resumes, because Lebron's is incomplete. But playing basketball, I think it's closer than most people want to admit.
It's become almost taboo to consider someone is a better basketball player than Jordan. The gap is close
It's been outlined in the thread. There's more to it than just resume and rings
Career vs talent.
Lebron would have been able to hand check also!
Hand check lebron he'll go right around. Nobody could guard Mike, nobody would have been able to guard Lebron.
Mike killed the knicks does not make him better or not in this day and age.
Nobody is taking away from Mike, its a career for the ages. Just like Russell's.
Russell was not a better player than mike, but he had a better career.
Even if Kobe gets his 6th, His career might be the "same" but he is not as good as mike.
But, 4 MVP's are strong in the arguement. Lebron better player and better career at same age. Lebron has some chips to win if he wants a better career.
Where is Wilt in the discussion? Dude was outright dominant in the russell era. Better player? yeah. Better career? Not really.
Lebrons offensive game doesn't even come close to mikes skill... I'd even say melo is more polished offensively. Lebron is great but let's be real not even on the same playing field as mike
Jordan:
1. Jordan won championships, even once when he's hella sick
2. Jordan worked well with someone he doesn't get along, Scottie Pippen
3. Jordan stiffed us Knicks all these years when we were dominating
LeBron:
1. Didn't come to Knicks simply to avoid tabloids exploiting his allegedly sexually liberated ugly mom.
2. Got his SAG card acting on this one hour vagina monologue called 'The Decision'.
3. Ditched the team that drafted him out right and send the city downward spiral for years.
Uhm.. yeah.. LeBron > Jordan and the world's coming to an end. I hate Jordan for obvious (Knicks) reasons btw, just in case someone thinks I'm all about Jordan.
Wrong.
Jordan is a better and more dynamic scorer. He can score in any way possible. LeBron just uses his unprecedented combination of power and speed to score. That doesn't last forever. Once LeBron loses his athleticism he will not have the career Jordan had in his last 30's. Jordan was still good when he was older because his jump shot was one of the best ever. Can't say the same for LeBron. When the athleticism and speed goes he wont be able to sustain his career like Jordan or even Kobe.
Either way, right now and ever, he will never be better than Jordan.

If it wasn't for the league allowing him to treat every other possession like he's trying to punch it from within side the Redzone running downhill to the rim he wouldn't be half as good as he is.
Jordan at 28 was not the shooter he became.
Jordan lost the high flying act and adapted.
Jordan did not win his 5th MVP until age 34.
Lebron is 28. The trajectory is similar.
Knicks don't factor in at all.
Rules change, they changed the court lanes because of Wilt. they put a half circle around the foul line because wilt used to run and dunk to shoot free throws. The game always changed.
Both players are athletic freaks. Jordan adapted, we'll see if Lebron continues to get better. Last season he added a low post game and is unstoppable. His outside shot is getting better like Jordan's did.
run the comps to the same age not Jordans whole career. Compelling discussion.

Wow. At some point in time, we can agree with just about anyone.
I would add the word "flop" to the discussion, and see where it goes.
If Lebron had managed to drag the nobodies in Cleveland to a chip, you LeQ lovers would have something to talk about. Until then, the sample sizes don't even come close to being in a discussion.
There is really no comparison at this point.
MJ transcended sport.
LeQ is the manchild who transcends himself by "quitting in a playoff series".
Please tell me when MJ quit in the playoffs.
Please don't tell me about how MJ had Pippen. We talkin about Pippen?
These threads just never get old. martin, is it possible to get a "Group like threads together" function? I promise to click on some of these ad banners...
The HD digital present always tops out the fuzzy video tape.
Russell has 11 rings. ELEVEN RINGS IN 13 YEARS. The man won every game 7 he played in. Every single one. Russ played with Tom Heinsohn and the Jones brothers. Who I'm very sure would have made people forget about Bob Petit and Jerry Logo had they played without Russell.
Russ and MJ would tear your heart out and shove it down your dead dog's throat (after they had killed it) to win.
Lebron might postpone a meeting with his venture capital group, depending on market conditions.
