Weve avg 107 per game and have won 6 in a row.
I think reiterate--keep Kenyon at starter use Tyson off the bench. dont mess with a good thing.
The sad thing is K-mart is so much better on offense, yet all he really has is a basic offensive skillset for a center/PF. How hard is it for Chandler to go for contact lay-ups and lay-ins? Not everything has to be a freaking alley-oop. I just hate how he has to be spoonfed everything. I get that K-mart is smaller yada yada yada but he's just as much of a defensive presence inside. I also think K-mart is scarier than Chandler, and is clearly the better shot blocker, a skill that affects the game beyond pure stats. When proud little point guards come galavanting towards our hole they slow down a notch when the thought of an embarrassing K-mart rejection looms in the corners of their minds. I do like Chandler's tip-outs, but I'm not his biggest fan.
The knicks perimeter d has been better, but as you witness in the 2nd half of the last 2 games, it's a lay up line for opponents.
Kmart is a more versitile defender
why not move melo to SF & k-mart to pf? tyson at center is a must IMO.
Yea I agree as long as Camby is healthy to back up Tyson. If it comes down to starting tyson or kmart. I would leave things the way the are and not disrupt the great chemistry they have going. Tyson needs his minutes scaled back tonaround 25 anyway. Woodson said Tyson will start and Kmart will back him up but he might have changed his mind.
I would go:
Tyson
Kmart
Melo
Shumpert
Prigioni
Or
Kmart
Melo
Shump
Felton
Prigioni
Not sure if small ball will work in the playoffs against elite teams though.
Anything but the Tyson Melo front court that had us down 15 every 1st quarter. Because you cant win with only Melo getting his 30. You need more offensive punch to start games.

I missed most of the past two games. Which one of our guards were getting torched in the 2nd halves? If it was Felton and he continues to get torched he needs to sit once Tyson returns. Shumpert has looked great defensively and is really kncking down that open 3 and with Melo he will get plenty open looks in the playoffs.
Maybe we are just a better team with Martin in for Chandler? Can we get a great PG for Chandler in the off season and just resign Martin. Think we have to consider it, even though on paper, right now, it might not make the most sense. Also, we might need to create some cap space to resign JR... I can't believe I just said that.
Yeah but that coincides with JR Smith playing outstanding basketball. If you look at the +/- stats for the season as a whole (thereby removing the confound of JR's recent streak), the team is pretty bad with Tyson off the court and very good with him on it.
I am more interested in the defensive numbers. I can't wait to have a 1-2 punch of Tyson and Martin. I do not like Melo at the 5 especially when Camby gets tossed early

, is being saved to play against a bigger lineup, or resting on a back to back.

Good point regarding Superman. We will see how Tyson plays with him. Who knows, maybe we get even better. We still need to look for a starting PG for next year imo.
Why can we not be happy we're doing well- why does the "we're a better team without x" argument ALWAYS come out if we manage to persevere through injuries?! I'm with Bonn on this one- only reason we've been winning is JR Smith's hot streak, plus Shumperts improvement (huge reason for our hot starts the last 2 games)- nothing to do with Tyson being out.

It's not the PGs, but there's a gaping hole in the middle when kmart helps in a trap defense or when kmart gets in to foul trouble. Were jumping on teams early, but we have look spent by the 4th qtr.
The key to our success IMO is were back to holding on to the ball, hitting 3's, and getting to the FT line thanks to more JR penetration. Tyson chandler hasn't been miss because of JR has the abilty to take to the rim cause there's no big.
We also haven't run that many PnR (which was becoming so damn predictable) but focus more screens and spacing
Whats Tysons status anyway?

I'd put it like this:
K-Mart playing at a ridiculously high level that he won't keep up > what we got from a banged up Tyson before he officially went on the injured list

Well need him in the playoffs--but next year we have to get rid of that bloated salary--hes not worth 14mm. We could cut that up and make a better team.

How? We won't have any cap room even if we get rid of him
kmart runs the floor better, and finishes at the rim better (gulp) than chandler. why wouldn't we want to keep him in the starting lineup. we are running and gunning on offense and still versatile enough on defense.
with chandler on the floor, every time there is a SG and Center pick n roll switch, chandler will get crossed over for a layup and kmart wont.
on offense, kmart actually has a jump shot (albeit ugly).
is there anything on offense that chandler does that kmart doesn't do?
the fact that smith has finally "graduated" and is playing he always should have been, can you not see his assist numbers going through the roof when chandler comes back to the lineup.
to me, keeping kmart in the starting lineup is a no-brainer because it allows him to be even more aggressive on defense knowing chandler's backing him up. this also allows chandler and jr smith to play together a lot which i think would be a very deadly combo for opposing teams.
flu-son chandler on the other hand is more of a complainer on defense when calls do not go his way and is disruptive to how the refs feel about us.
i mean do we not think that more calls have gone our way recently?

I agree, K-mart's versatility is valuable. It if ain't broke then ya dont fix it.

Agreed. Regardless if its been bc of JRs hot play, the weak schedule, playing Prigioni or KMart amazing play this definitely has to and probably can happen. I realize everyone loves Chandler but he's not worth that contract and Amar'e isn't going anywhere with his uninsured contract.
JR has the opt out (is this correct?) and he would probably wanna stay if he had his deal restructured and we could also resign Kmart and maybe another big w that room. I would think a handful of squads would consider taking on Chandler in a swap. Question is could it free up the room to make the above resignings after a deal?
