Wonder what Josh McRoberts would cost, I think he would be about 2m or so
But if we can get him at veteran minimum, it would be a steal, and would be happy to give him a 2 year deal with player option for 2nd
I think we need more PF/C one being a shot blocker/rebounder/defender/ and another being a better post player/scorer/ or/and 3 pt threat
I would love to grab one player that is capable of doing all in one but it just isn't going to happen with a vet min to offer
I think keeping Martin is our #1 priority, possibly even giving him the mini MLE to do so IF we in fact to manage to keep JR Smith *hopefully giving Chris Smith a roster spot would be enough to entice him with what we can offer*
We play much better with Martin with his ability to rotate, play the PnR much more effectively with his speed/athleticism/good cuts/ability to finish/ and more importantly his ability to DEFEND while able to recover with his speed and help at the last second vs a bigger/slower Center
With his speed, he is able to fight for position for rebounding position late, and he does so many things that a 7footer cannot, and it shows when he is on the floor
Like you said, we are just much more balanced with Martin on the floor vs Chandler, and it opens up the driving lanes for JR Smith and whoever, while Martin's fundamental's, speed, athleticism, and IQ/understanding of the game changes our flow to the game
We also need more G/F and F's that are athletic/skilled/3pt shooting/DEFEND at the vet min price like
SF/PF
============
Stephen Jackson
Ron Artest *amensty waiting to happen with 100m in payroll for vet min if no one picks him up*
James Johnson *if King's let him go after 2-3 years as a pro*
Hakim Warrick *which I don't know why we still have not picked up to use vs Lebron for this year in play offs*
Anthony Tolliver
Jeff Adrien
Earl Clark wonder what he would get this summer while Lakers seem to be unwilling to add salary when they let Session's walk for nothing which I think could have made their difference in getting in play offs had they kept
G/F
============
Brandon Rush *trade for GS with his knee injury could be available for the cheap to clear salary so they can keep Jack since they are about tax paying and small market team* 1year deal and is an expiring
Kyle Korver UFA would give mini MLE if we can keep JR Smith/Martin somehow
Martel Webster
Ginobili i know he is injury prone and old but he is the big name type player that NY always likes to go after towards the end of his career
Tony Allen
PF/C
============
Our pick???
Brandon Wright
Josh McRoberts
Chris Johnson *Twolves, super athletic/long/skinny
Blairre
Ivan Johnson
Hiddayi
Odom
MoSgov
Sumuerdo Samuels ex Cav that is also a FA right now that we could use for play offs
C
=========
JO
Greg Stimensa
Ryan Hollins
Dalembert *like what he brings but depending on who we can keep, I would not be willing to give him more than the vet min in which he will likely earn much more than*
PG/SG
=========
Randy Foye *especially if JR leaves, but for the vet min not mini MLE, he is only making 2m this year and if JR Smith is gone, he will be able to get a lot PT to showcase for his next contract*
Nate Robinson
any of Spur's backups, Patty Mills/Gary Neal etc
Livingston
love Jack/Bayless but doubt either will be available
PG
=======
CJ Watson/Lucas *player option*
Washington's backup/ NO backup/ and Clippers backup that was waived by Sixers and picked up by Clippers/training with Cp3 now
Pargo
Jenkin's
*this years pick*
also wonder what Treva Ariza's value is, in which I doubt we can trade for with Camby/Novak and our junk/ OKC's 2nd rounder/ maybe 2018 1st round pick protected top 15
problem is we are over the cap and in the luxury tax that only allows mini MLE/vet min signings/trades *with very limited assets, without S&T's
We don't have much $$$$ we can offer FA's but only the bright lights of NYC to play with Melo and some opportunity to shine if we are unable to keep JR/Martin which could earn them nice contracts this summer with their opportunity they took advantage of
We also need to keep JR Smith/Martin/ and Copeland *not need but a rare player with skills at his size* but for how he is utilized with limited PT, a better defender like Tolliver as a hustle player/10th man + on the bench would probably make much more sense for Woodson and Copeland to go to a team like Spur's
