Not as far as I can tell. http://www.fbi.gov/news/updates-on-inves...

Your article seems to be referencing two other people. Very easy mistake to make, they did a terrible job of clarifying who they were talking about.

Allanfan20 @ 4/19/2013 7:39 AM
Ugly situation.
ChuckBuck @ 4/19/2013 8:23 AM
Unreal...the 2 Chechen brothers had a wild shootout with Boston Police last night after robbing a 7/11. Supposedly grenades were thrown by the terrorists, 1 brother was shot and killed, and the 2nd drove a stolen SUV through the police force and is on the loose....You Can't script this shyt.

Black cap is dead, gotta catch white cap now.

callmened @ 4/19/2013 8:29 AM
The two brothers carjacked soome and identifyed themselves as the marathon brothers...

Craziness. I was following it last night. I really hope the second guy is captured alive (if it can be done without any more police deaths) so we can find out a motive.

smackeddog @ 4/19/2013 11:05 AM
Why are some of the media suggesting the fact that they're Chechen could be a motive? America has nothing to do with what happened in Chechnya- that's all on Russia.

Hope they catch him alive- always feels like in some way they've won when they kill themselves or die before being captured.

this... they need to waterboard the kid till he sings. Then he can rot in guatanimo until he dies of scurvy

Just like to clarify I wasn't actually saying he should be tortured, just caught and jailed.

To be honest, I would have no problem with torture either. I'm not an evil person, but if you commit an heinous premeditated act, I think it is fair, actually. Maybe that would actually be a deterrent, because jail time and death don't seem to be enough.

But isn't torturing someone a heinous premeditated act? I get the desire to see him suffer, I have it too, but I think you'd lose an important part of yourself if you started torturing and killing people. It's a slippery slope.

It's debatable. I would only want to use it in extreme cases like terrorism.

Im not for torturing. I say waterboard him for information. Every piece of info the kid has. Then lock him up somewhere he cant talk to anyone who will ever see the light of day (to avoid spreading his hate to those who may one day be free and able to carry out more of this).

Quite sure he wont be captured alive. Which sucks.

Waterboarding is torture. When you say you're in favor of waterboarding that means you're in favor of torture.

I most certainly have a problem with torture. If your enemies know that you will show them no quarter, they return the favor many times over. It also has an inspiring effect and galvanizes their cause

BRIGGS @ 4/19/2013 2:55 PM
In almost any case I would disagree with torture. In this particular type of case--where hundreds of innocent civilians were hurt and killed in light of day--this would be the type of crime that if the perpetrator was not willing to talk--then I would do what it took to make him talk. He could hold knowledge of other plots against k's of people and if one life is damaged to save 1'ks--thats reasonable.

I had a professor in college that liked to say, "It's easier to do something 100% of the time than it is to do something 98% of the time." Slippery slope, easier and easier to justify after you make the initial concession.

I agree with Supreme's post above yours, and just to add, I do not usually trust information collected during torture. At a certain point, most people will simply tell you what they think you want to hear, whether or not they have any actual information.

Allanfan20 @ 4/19/2013 3:04 PM
I agree. Solitary confinement strikes me as enough. If they do torture the man though, I would hope they don't report it.
