Knicks · Does Mike Woodson Leverage His Bench Like A Mad Scientist? (page 1)

Man In The Middle

Martin regained his form immediately, leaping to challenge shots, giving hard fouls and finishing with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Chandler still seemed limited by his neck injury. He played just 21 minutes, none in the fourth quarter, and finished with 5 rebounds and no points. - Howard Beck, NYT

Tyson Chandler is clearly out of sync. Either rust never sleeps, or the bulging disk in his neck will continue to be a problem. He didn't attempt a shot in the first half and mishandled a Felton pass in the paint.

Kenyon Martin is a superior offensive threat and can black a shot when needed. Nearly a double double machine. He and Carmelo have chemistry and the earned equity of being former teammates.

Mike Woodson appears to relish the moment he can go to Earl Smith (game changer), Martin (multiple contributions), Kidd (who played 30 minutes) and even Steve Novak (who was invisible on offense in game one). Our starters are adequate. Our bench is hard to handle. When Carmelo sits, the offense does not suffer. In fact, sometimes, it gets movin and groovin.

Fun Fact: The Knicks' bench outscored Boston's 33-4.

A. Because then we gotta mention his pine brother Earl Barron. Please do not mention our secret weapon Camby until the second round.

He needs to give utilize Copeland @ Center as a top 3 option on offense, not just a spread the court player like Novak
Build on that confidence that he has thrived on and give some trust to this rook

True, but i don't think that will happen unless foul trouble comes up..he's riding 8 guys to the death, those with experience and grit....Woodson man some solid adjustments, his learning.

he's riding 8 guys to the death

Woodson played 9. Steve Novak needs to show up on Tuesday. He was invisible.

Pablo changes things

“If Pablo‘s back, the lineup changes to start out anyway. We probably have Raymond on Paul, Iman on Green. That’s what we envisioned coming into the series before Pablo got hurt. I thought Melo did an excellent job on Green. Green’s a tough cover for anybody."

Felton on Pierce?

Interesting

Novak won't do anything more than open the lane for someone who can penetrate. If he's standing in the corner and Felton gets a pick and drives to the basket on the same side of the court, Felton will get a layup or Chandler will get a dunk because nobody's doubling off him. The issue yesterday is that there wasn't enough pick-and-roll and the offense got stagnant.

Chandler is going to struggle because the perimeter shooters on the Celtics are bigs and he'll be 20 feet out guarding Garnett more often than not.

xyz - you are indeed Jedi.

In that regard, the versatility and athletic ability of Kenyon Martin is huge for the homeboys.

Marcus Camby is our emergency solution if Earl Barron responds like a rookie. Hopefully, he will not be needed.

Imagine if Rasheed Wallace was available. The chants would be deafening.

If he defensive reactions do not meet the new standard, Amare Stoudemire will hear it from the crowd, and his demanding coach.

Our secret weapon, Marcus Camby is in storage until the next round.

I Man Shumoert is showing positive signs with two important makes

Jason Kidd is being deployed with precision.
