So far this series has been a microcosm of our season:
Great Start filled with stifling defense and great ball movement. Melo moving the ball when he has to, not missing anything. JR Smith playing out of his mind.
Crappy Middle ISO ISO ISO, bad shot selection from Anthony (possibly because no1 else is doing anything), Kidd dissapearing act, Novak dissapearing act
hopefully we finish strong like we finished the season.
closeout games are always tough, especially against a proud team with two no doubt HOFers. still a bit disappointing that a "veteran" team with a coach who has tons of playoff experience seemed so casual about game 5

They are probably just trying to find something useful for him to do so he at least earns a little of his enormous pay check.
That or they are prepping him for post career life on the bench.
Who knows - hopefully he gets healthy soon.

This is the game that we got all these veterans for. My fear is that we'll ahve those deer in the headlights kinda game, but that's why we got a bunch of pros. Hopefully we end it tonight. I'm nervous as hell though.

We may have all these vets but where has Camby been? Sheed is done, KT is done, Kidd is shot, Amare is out. I mean who exactly is helping Melo and JR?
Novak has sucked all season, Felton has been OK, and Tyson has yet to show up like he did last year or in the Macs championship run. We need a lot of people to step up huge tonight and we also need the coach to make some adjustments.
Does anyone know if Camby is still hurt or is he just sitting now?

Felton has killed the celtics all series and gave us a chance in game 4. iman shumpert looks like he did when he was a rookie and even better. Its time for melo and jr to step up

Well basketball is a team sport and Melo and JR can't do their thing unless others step up. When Felton drops 20+ I get concerned that's because the focus is on Melo - not just because Felton is playing well. Now if he was scoring 20 in the flow of things that's a different story but when he is getting it while the Knicks are struggling then I get concerned.
We need players to stretch the defense so Melo and JR can work. We also need Melo and JR to step it up.

AMEN!!! Great post StarksEwing1. The thing is that the role players on the team have been playing hard and all we needed was a few made shots from our Big guns and this series is over!!! Hopefully that is what we get tonight.

Look I have never blamed Melo for everything. I have defended him quite a bit. Jr is the biggest reason why this happened. Getting suspended is stupid. Then he goes out gets loaded and comes back for Game 5 and does nothing probably because he was hungover. Melo hasnt played well and that isnt because of the guys around him. He is making a lot of poor decisions the past 2 games.
oh man, he needs to be cleared to play ASAP
