Not sure why either guy is in the conversation to be fired. Both are without what would be considered corner stone players, both are among 8 coaches left in the playoffs, both did a great job in the regular season, and one overcame a lot of adversity to win in a town where winning hasn't happened in 13 years.

woodson has had no success in the second round. none.

the second round is the real playoffs and coaching is paramount. preparation and adaptability. strategy and tactics.

my issue with woodson, if we lose, is that he has shown no foresight in terms of forging an identity and strategy and refused to discipline his best players when necessary in the 82 games of the regular season. i see phony tough love and an ingratiating approach which may work during the regular season but will come back to haunt you in the playoffs. the crucible of the playoffs reveals character.

i don't get the cultural reference. the team was not prepared on sunday and this is the round where woodson has stumbled historically. good coaches don't suffer blowouts on their way to getting sweptand this is what has happened with woodson.

that 54-28 record was enough to earn the 2nd seed which was promptly squandered thanks to lack of preparation. you think there is some sort of continuity between the regular season (including the first round of the playoffs) compared with the second round and beyond? all the knicks did was eliminate a 7th seed, a game and gritty but otherwise old and creaky team with a great coach and a couple of old warriors.
