Knicks · We should win this 4-1 4 -2 at worst. (page 2)

This team worries me. Their shooters are fairly hot and ours are cold. What happens when Indiana starts taking care of the ball? Or if we get hammered inside like game 1? Or our bigs get into foul trouble? I'm leaning towards us in 7 at the moment but we've seen two different teams so far. If they take care of business at home were gonna have a small Hill to climb.

Clouds Don't Worry The Answer Man

tj23 - This team worries me. Their shooters are fairly hot and ours are cold.

A. Indy shot 46 per cent in game 2. We shot 49 per cent. What game are you watching?

tj23 - What happens when Indiana starts taking care of the ball?

A. Indiana hasn't taken care of the ball all season. Mad Scientist Mike Woodson is cooking some tasty zone coverages. The Pacers have no answer for the defensive quickness I Man Shumpert or the craftiness of Pablo Prigioni.

tj23 - Or if we get hammered inside like game 1?

A. Game 1 is history. Kenyon Martin has some nice parting gifts for Tyler Hansbrough.

tj23 - Or our bigs get into foul trouble?

A. "Amare Stoudemire or Earl Barron, please pick up the orange courtesy phone..."

tj23, go outside enjoy the sun. It's a beautiful Friday to be a Knicks fan.

Gain a split on the road. Come back to The Garden for a pivotal Game 5.

They seemed sooo down on themselves as if they learned something from game 2 that did not bode well for them going forward.
Dejected, somber, and lethargic is the best way I could describe Hibbert's composure after the game.

Hibbert can't really make any adjustments. He's not nearly as mobile like the big 3 Georgetown bigs (Ewing/Mourning/Mutombo). Basically if the Knicks can hit the mid-range shot off picks, Indiana's in big trouble because Hibbert doesn't come out to help. He doesn't cover a lot of range (like a Dwight Howard might) to get his rebounds, so if he comes out, it negates another part of his game.

I think we've seen Indiana's best already. They couldn't have played much better than the first game - so their best bet is to grind it out for the remainder of the series if they want to win.

The Knicks on the other hand have significant upside. We haven't seen anything from Smith, Chandler, Kidd, and Stoudemire yet. Nor have we gotten output out of Novak & Copeland. We've played our best basketball for just 1 quarter, and even then, a lot of the output came from our B-team (from an offensive standpoint).

I think using Chandler in more pick and roll plays will:

#1. Force slow footed Hibbert to move and react.
#2. Get Hibbert into foul trouble.
#3. Gets the ball out of Melo and JR's hand, which allows the roll players to stay active.
#4. Keep Chandler motivated. A motivated Chandler is better for our defense.
#5. Gives Pablo an offensive role, since pick and roll is his specialty.

I agree, instead of just attacking them one on one, and allowing Hibbert to do some rim protection. Put Hibbert in pick and roll plays, and attack him while he's moving or recovering vs just standing under the rim waiting for Melo and JR to beat their man.

What I saw that was also effective was doubling Hibbert late in possessions. He's not a fluent player on offense and doesn't do very well when he is rushed. He's also not used to being double teamed, since he's never been their biggest offensive threat. Make Hibbert be your decision maker on offense and score off of his TO's. It also disrupts their offensive flow.

The key with doubling Hibbert, is to rotate on the players in his field of vision. If you are going to leave somebody open, leave the guy thats in his blind side open. Hibbert doesn't have point guard IQ or vision to see the entire floor or make any quick decisions.

Neutralizing Hibbert is the key to beating Indiana. When Hibbert is on the bench, nobody should be shooting 3's, unless they are so wide open, they have time to set their feet. Otherwise, this is when you attack the rim and get to the line. This is what we did great in game 2. Attack the basket when Hibbert is off the floor. Hit mid range flooters when Hibbert is in the game. Put him in pick and rolls, to open up back door lobs!

Wow thought wed break out back to how we played end of season and game 2. Game 3 showed fatal type flaws in the paint. It's one thing if chandler is not scoring but at 7 -1 can u give me 14 rebounds? Lastly. It's pretty simple math. If Jason Kidd Pablo and chandler can't score

Yep, a lot of our players are slumping: JR, Kidd, Novak, Melo, Tyson. Up until last night Pablo and Felton were bucking the trend, so when they stank too we were doomed. Seems only Shump is playing well... Not good...

misterearl @ 5/12/2013 4:49 PM
Shoot.

Golden State cannot shoot.

The playoffs are half court battles of survival.

Win game 4

franco12 @ 5/12/2013 5:08 PM
The Pacers are winning this in 5, maybe 6.

The Knickes have played like crap since Boston, and were lucky to get out of the first round.

did you miss game 2?

tj23 @ 5/12/2013 7:37 PM
We are predictable and soft!! Somebody besides Melo go to the rim!! Felton stop driving to pass every play!! We are so content on settling for the 3. Somebody get in there and get to the line...how many screens are we going to go under against Hill? This team has a total of what? 3 shooters we need to guard on the perimeter? DJ, Hill, and Paul George. Rotate to the good shooters and box out!! All that being said...we still take game 4. Hibbert is not going to continue playing this well. I know Felton is gonna come out firing and attacking and wreck havoc like he's been doing these playoffs. JR is also due to have a big game even though he's been invisible. Our offense was too good all season to not explode one of these games...time to step up
VDesai @ 5/12/2013 7:54 PM
We need to change our style. Go smaller and play some speedball. Otherwise we are going to get pounded on the boards. With no one who can shoot, we can't play a half court style.

Negativism, after 3 games in a potential 7 game series, is for losers.

Champions never quit.

And realists call it like it is!

I was going to post something about the fact that our team was one of the worst best teams, and not really reflective of our record.

Part of it is our age, and the fact that so many of our key players are declining.

Its absurd that people are talking about Camby being a savior. We're stuck with what we have, and that is some really good players that are streaky, sometimes don't play defense, can't stay healthy, and a bunch of really old vets that can't be expected to contribute for a full season, let alone a full season and play offs.

Really Talking to One's Self (Copyright That'sMisterAnswerMan2U LLC, 2013)

Camby, we talkin bout Camby?

Yes, realism. It's amazing how real people get after almost each and every loss, 3 game losing streak, injury, yada yada yada. Let's recap, shall we?
1) Melo's a first round exit loser.
2) We're old and our regular season accomplishments are more useless that bull teats.
3) Woody's the prototype for playoff loser coach.
4) JR's really an idiot; see, I told you!
5) I hate Starphucques, I hate mediocrity, and I already miss March Madness!
6) I don't know who mentioned Camby being a saviour, but I sure know it's "real" to mention some bench/old/useless roster space as the latest Knick saviour. I will not forget BDiddy.
7) The bar will continue to rise until I tell it to stop.

BRIGGS @ 5/13/2013 9:26 AM
KNicks just need to get back to what they did in game 2---with the caveat that Chandler has to pull down 12 boards and keep those guys off the offensive boards. We have played good D but weve gotten bullied on the boards--and were still rotating poorly at times of the 3 pt line.

Tyson has to set the bar---3 offensive boards 9 defensive

Guys have to take shots and be confident they will make them

So, the latest is:

K-Mart has caught JR's flu- both sat out sunday's practice and today's practice.

Oh and Iman sat out with a 'sore knee' (the one he tore his ACL in)...

Bonn1997 @ 5/13/2013 10:36 AM
Really? Iman was looking like he had fully recovered.

I read that he fell and landed awkwardly on it in the 4th Q of the last game. Hopefully they're just being cautious.
