Papabear SaysWhen was the last time we got this far in the playoffs?? Phil Jackson couldn't get this team to beat the Pacers. We just don't have the talent. Woody can't make those shots the team must. The Pacers are just a better team. We have the oldest team in the league. I'm happy we got this far. Lets face it they have better players and Woody can stand on his head and it will be a hard win. The only way we win will be if we play at a high level and we are not playing that way. it's not Woody's fault they just can't shoot the damn ball. It's not Woody who have to step up to the plate its the team. Damn the way some of you are complaining you would think that we had a record like the Lakers or the Heat or Dallas for for the past 10 years. When we really sucked in years past I have not heard such complaining. Show me a year in the past 13 years that we were this good?? You can't so it is what it is. We need better players to surround Melo. Not a bunch of old men who are worn down come playoff time. Woody will get another half season or more to prove himself. Just be thankful that we got this far. But just don't blame Woody blame the whole damn team.

Nalod sees the knicks this season had problems against youthier athletic teams. Indy was the 2 seed most of the time and we got hot to finish.
Our bigs are old and limited. JR is a "Scratch and Dent" talent who came at a discount. Dude is defective. He was great this year and the kind of side kick Melo needed. At the moment of glory the dude melted down.
Melo is a great player but playoff pressure and series is a different animal. few players can put a team on its back in the playoffs. This is not regular season. Tyson has his hands full with a bigger and younger player. Indy is young and very strong. We are old where they are not.
54 wins is great. Got us 1st place. Woody did a great job getting us here and now we look cooked.
A series can change at any moment and JR can break thru mentally and fix this.
Not likely but its why they play the series out.

Stars need help. Durant needs westbrook, Melo needs JR.
We got thru boston because of our superior talent but showed our weakness of being mentally soft.
Woodson coached his ass off to get to 54 wins. Team obviously played over its heads most of the season and thus Woodson did a great job.
Playoffs are for men.

Novak played 1 min and scored more then kidd has in 100 min...your struggling to score so you insert a defensive minded kmart into your starting line up, prigs has done more in these playoffs then jr and kidd, and you bench him.
Don't act like the guys he got sitting on the bench weren't key contributers this season..without tyson, without amare..

as a coach you risk losing your players if they know all you care about is production and their effort doesn't count
that said, fuck losing the players right now - they have been awful and watching them has been a waste of time. Copeland looked great last night and Novak hit a shot from downtown Chicago. Priggy needs to get JR's minutes because I'd rather a SG that passes to a fault than a SG without a shot
This thread title is an understatement.
Woodson is getting SEVERELY out coached.
Playing Kidd more minutes than Prigioni. Taking Copeland out after hitting some shots. Sticking with Amare a couple minutes too long. Afraid to insert Camby and/or Barron. Playing Shumpert when he really shouldn't even be out there....list goes on.
All the buttons he pushed in the regular season seems to have vanished.
Maybe all the hatters are right...maybe we getting Atlanta Woodson.
The problems for Woody started much earlier than the playoffs. He allowed a sloppy attitude to develop and continue from this team. They started to believe they could just shoot their way out of deficits. They didn't always stick to executing at a high level for 48 mins. They didn't always stick to Ball and Player movement, which is how they function best. Tyson didn't just start playing poorly in the playoffs, he's been doing this crap all year. In fact Woody has not been Mr. Accountability as he claims.
As a Coach Woody was fond of the old MDA saying that he doesn't try to adjust to what teams do, they have to adjust to what we do. The reason is simple, if you don't have a very versatile team you have to go with your strengths. If you win by playing small, fast and loose, then you play even faster with more ball and player movement. You can't beat a team that wins by pounding it inside by changing what you do. Not playing Prigioni or his floor spacers Cope and Novak was a huge issue. Playing Kidd and JR too much was also a problem.
As a coach you have get into your Centers head that he must BOX OUT his man, which for some reason Tyson failed to do. Tyson was using HORRIDLY poor technique in the paint. Woodson failed to adjust his defense to limit the switching so that they didn't give up open shots and drives to the hole from being out of position.

why not give Q a look. I've been saying it since last week, if JR isn't producing, give Q a look. He isn't a terrible defender, is in good shape, isn't a great shooter but, is about as good outside as JR. Who knows what he can give us if he's not given the chance.

The elbow 3 has been wide open only to see jr bricking, how often do you see kidd turned down open shots cause his confidence is shot
Tysons struggles in game 3 should have giving cope time, hibert was having his way regardless, so why not bring cope to pull hibert or west out of the paint..
Were not making the pacers wrk hard on the defense at all..even when hibert got into foul trouble you still sent doubles at west and fckng imani..

So since Vogel's team beat Woodson he was out coached?
So I guess Eric Spoelstra is the greatest coach in the NBA since he beat Vogel, Rivers, Brooks, and Thibodeau.

yeah, well my point really wasn't concerned with whether or not his concepts were all that innovative. that said, i wish i could find the article.
appears to me that Vogel is taking advantage of the Knicks switching and doubling. Vogel has his team running an offense that results in our bigs contesting shots away from the basket; drawing our main rebounders out of the paint. so if the Pacers miss, they have a higher chance of getting the offensive rebound because the Pacers bigs are still under the basket while our bigs are on the perimeter.

I would say every GM he had failed him. Give him a legit No. 2 and decent point guard. He will win at least one championship.

This series is over in 5. With how bad Kidd has been playing and our coach says this? This is another thing that proves he does not adjust.

Did you see the post game conference, this teams moral is at a season low, even the most optimistic player sounded dejected..
Stephen said prigs said some sht in spanish to a frnd or family member and he didn't need a translator to understand how pissed off he was
