Knicks · start Amare at the 5 (page 1)

fishmike @ 5/16/2013 1:08 PM
Bring Chandler off the bench. Amare can play Hibbert physical and hit him effectively. Foul trouble isnt a concern because he's playing 18 minutes. He can attack Hibbert on offense or force him out because Amare can even hit a 3. Space the floor. Let Melo devour them in the middle. We need to see at least 15 minutes of Cope and 15 minutes of Novak. Thats 30+ minutes we have an extra shooter.

Knicks have fallen right into their strength. We need to get back to ours. The rebounds dont matter when the Knicks go small because we kill them in TO ratio.

Knicks need to go small and when Chandler is in spread the floor and let Felton and Chandler work the P&R over and over

yellowboy90 @ 5/16/2013 1:10 PM
Start him for the first 2:30 minutes? He is still on a pitch count( minute watch). Also, Woody would never bench Tyson.
ChuckBuck @ 5/16/2013 1:11 PM
I can agree with the theory. Not specifically Amare, but alot of Cope at the 5 would be killer to Hibbert crowding the paint area.

It would definitely space out more from Melo and JR, and generally produce more ball movement.

fishmike @ 5/16/2013 1:27 PM
Tyson is still getting starter minutes. You give Amare a chance to have a big impact on the game in a short period of time. Hes a guy you can toss the ball into and he can effectively attack Hibbert. Chandler will still be huge in this game. He's going to have to protect the rim when we have these floor spacing Copeland and Novak lineups cause those guys are going to get beat from time to time, its just the cards we gotta play. Its what got us here.

Start Steve Novak at Center

Let's go an entire season, win the division, make the playoffs, win a series... then panic.

hilarious.

It'll help offensively, but if you think we are getting killed on the boards now......

To be fair...Woodson already panicked in game 4. Not so much by going big with the starters, but by not adjusting during the game and keeping Pablo and Shump on the bench while JR and Kidd destroyed us. I've supported him and will continue to , but he did a lousy job in game 4.

Knixkik @ 5/16/2013 1:50 PM
Woodson will never start Amare again, and for good reason. He will sell him on the 6th man role next season which is a very smart move. Keep his minutes down, let him get shots every time he's in, and play in the crunch when he's on a roll.

I know we'll get crushed on the boards, but at this point the only way this Knicks team will win this particular game and even a breathe of hope of the series, is to out-offense the Pacers. Create more possessions, speed the pace, hit more 3s, win the turnover battle.

Hey, it worked in the regular season...

well said.

All I could think watching that BS is how strong we ended the season with Pablo as the main facilitator and how he basically came in a sparked the game 2 victory, so of course it makes sense that Woody plays him 3 f'ing minutes...

I somewhat like this idea, but at the same time, I think Amar'e also disrupts the offense. We need more offense from somewhere. Problem is we're on the brink of elimination with no time to try to figure this out.

In general though, anything that gets us more guys who can step out and hit a shot, I'm in favor of. More Novak, more Copeland, possibly more Amar'e. Less Kenyon, Tyson and Kidd. If guys can't hit a shot, they can't get major minutes in this series, IMHO.

BigRedDog @ 5/16/2013 2:35 PM
Dumb and a desperation move.

What we need is a Novak dunk to energize this team.

Steve Novak, Mr. 6'10", can you please get the first dunk of your career?

JesseDark @ 5/16/2013 4:44 PM
Right now Indiana is not honoring the high pick and roll that Chandler sets. So our offense is already into the second option before it's started. Hibbert just sits back and waits for the guard to come to him. Chandler needs to either hit a mid range jumper (good luck with that) or find a way for Hibbert to respect him offensively. If Amare can give us more offense and pick up some fouls on Hibbert I am all for it.

I liked the guy who called into ESPN radio today (I think it was the Mike Lupica show) who said the way we win this series is to insert Earl Barron into the game purely to start a brawl with Indiana and hopefully get some ejections and suspensions for Hibbert and West. Now that's thinking out of the box...

And hope and pray Grundy can somehow talk maybe the Pelicans into taking his magic knees and his now-stupid contract for some instant "name credibility".

"The Pelicans Are Back!"

Amare had his best games while playing center. Not sure how effective he can be playing only a couple of minutes.

I like the idea that Amare is swimming and training in a pool. I hope they continue to restrict the stress that he puts on his knees in the offseason. He brings a lot of bounce and energy to the floor in limited minutes and is hard to handle on offense,

switching a rotation is panic move? Wow OK. Also you act like the division was won doing the same thing. There was time on this team when Jason Kidd to totally indispensable, when you thought Shump shold sit for the year, when Novak was a weapon, when Copeland was in the NBDL, when Woody called for a P&R. Things change and fast.
