i dont think muscala will hey a lot of draft hype. when was the last time anyone good came from bucknell? there will be a lot of doubters due to the league he plays in. He just needs to work hard and have good NBA combines

I think the 3 mil for next season becomes available after the moratorium on signings for next year (7/9 or 7/10). For the Knicks to purchase a pick they would need to have some of that money left from 2012-2013 season. I was wondering if they have any of that cash left.

I've been thinking if James White's contract isn't guaranteed next season maybe we can flip him to a team for a late 1st/early 2nd if there's someone there we like.

White's contract is confusing to me.

White has a team option for around $1 million next season that the Knicks have to decide on by June 30. If they decline, White will become an unrestricted free agent.

So, if they pick up the option is the year guaranteed or is it the team option that makes it non guaranteed?

I believe the fact that it's an option makes it non-guaranteed; if we, or a team we trade him to, picks up the option his contract for next season would become guaranteed. At least that's how it usually works. If that report is correct I guess we would have to trade him at the draft to get any value.

Ok, I just notice the draft is june 27. I thought it was later for some reason. I can definately see him traded to OKC for their late 1st rounder or in a pkg to help any other kind of trade.

Is OKC desperate to clear cap space? Maybe White and a future second rounder would get that done.

So basically give them back their 2nd rounder that they gave the Knicks. lol. It just might work.

A good comparison for muscala would be tiago splitter. Take some time to think just how hard it is to find skilled 6-11 guys. With hard work muscala could 1 day be an nba all star level player. I really believe his low ball draft status is from teams looking at him as a 5. He's an nba 4. I think he would need to get to 245ish. But that is easy.

Ennis looks like a good prospect.

RonRon @ 5/27/2013 12:46 AM
Briggs what about Jamelle Hagins?
I can't find a reason for you not to like him though...
He defends, rebounds, posts up and finishes well, decent athleticism/size/strength, and plays hard with fundamentals 4 years college veteran

I don't think I see him in any of the current Mock drafts, I think he could be a great sleeper at about 40-45...
If he goes undrafted I would give him a 2 year with guaranteed 1st year on the spot

callmened @ 5/27/2013 12:04 PM
I just watched the highlights of Hagins:

-nice post moves and explosiveness
-but i worry at 6-9 and 235 he might be pushed around in the pros
- good potential

yep, if he can gain 10-15 pounds of LEAN muscle without losing mobility/athleticism, I am all for it
he is bigger than Dante Cunningham and Faried but what he is quite skilled, solid rebounder, and has good fundamentals/skills
I gave him a comparision of Millsap, Trevor Booker, and Kmart, and he could be a HUGE STEAL considering he could get drafted in mid/late rounds or not even drafted at all
He is a player that works hard and seems mature with having a child, while he has played all 4 years in college and showed improvement/consistency

I really like this kid as a sleeper and I am impressed with his IQ/TEAM effort as well
Glad you agree with his potential, I think we eventually will need to upgrade our C position to make up for his size and I just think Chandler will be in huge decline soon if it already hasn't started already...

a C like healthy Noah would be great with his worth ethic
I would rather have him over Patrick Young and hope we find a way to acquire him
He would likely be a rotation/bench player right away and within time can develop in to a solid role player on the team

His potential might be as high as Muscala's but for where he likely would be drafted, or as a free agent if not drafted, complete steal
We were missing a player that we could use the initiate the offense with post ups while NOT being a huge liability (Amare)
I believe he is that player that we could have used vs the Pacer's, he has good post up skills/foot work and will only continue to get better
He also is a SHOT blocker and with his speed could finish on fast breaks or initiate it with his rebounding ability *something's we could have used in addition to a PG and another LEGIT SF to push the tempo*

He's a really good prospect for the 2nd round. Isaw him play against drexel. He's a solid rebounder. Another form of these 2nd round PDA that should be popular. I like muscala. He'such different than any other prospect around 24. No one has post moves shooting touch passing ability w defense and length from the 4like muscala.

callmened @ 5/27/2013 3:25 PM
Does he have a jumper?

From what I saw Hagins is much more of an interior player along the lines of what we have on our team Kenyon Martin. Athletically block shots play defense rebound(NBA style) play with energy and then you can say can this guy develop an offensive game. This guy is an NBA player--there is no doubt--anyone who can rebound athletically like that in volume at 6-9 is going to find a home. I'm sure the Knicks will find 1-2 guys they like after the draft is done for fit--will they like Hagins---go ask Isiah Thomas. Right now we one offensive low post scorer who also happens to have serious knee issues and as of now 2 PGs on contract-- 1 who is absolutely shot. Thats where I would look first. I do not see one low post player around 24 except Muscala and at a legit 6-11.5 gives us that length we do not have at the 4 on D. I think drafting Muscala would open it up to play Amare some at C with Tyson playing with Muscla.

BRIGGS @ 5/27/2013 7:57 PM
I want Muscala and Wolters--those are my two picks. Wolters was my guy all year and Muscala--after you think about what he can bring at the 4 position--both make a ton of sense with Erick Green as a fall back. I can see us picking up Muscala at 24 and having the ability to get Wolters or Green in the 2nd round if we spend. mUscala is almost a no brainer if he is available at 24. If we dont pick him--the Spurs will.
yellowboy90 @ 5/27/2013 8:37 PM
I don't know I think Green, Crabbe, and even Bullock are the only plug and play guys in this draft that fit with what NY is doing. Muscala is probably a good pick but I doubt he contributes next year but who knows.

Peyton Siva is another name that we could find in round 2 who can go with Muscala if you look at the PG's with pro potential. Again thats where Id shift my money--I think 24 and Muscala is going to be a match and be there. PG Im not sure but we need 1 and the main guys are going to be gone--that will leave Wolters Green and Siva--after that--its gets sketchy.

I think you have to include Jackson in that group. Probably the best court vision of any PG in the draft.

He's a candidate to be a very good back up energy PG. Hes fast strong quick tough skilled and good. If he was 3 inches taller hed be a top 3 pick. I don't know if hes a fit on this club???

callmened @ 5/27/2013 10:51 PM
im going by the assumption that we have only ONE draft pick at 24. If its up to me, Id draft a young PG first because they have the young legs to play defense(need someone who can stop or at least contain Rondo, DRose etc). If thats not available then, Id go for a big man with defense and rebounding. If nothing else is available then id go for the best player available.

PGs that I'm interested in (if available of course):
Larkin
D. Schroeder
P.Jackson
E. Green
Kabongo

Well I think that Mike Muscala would be available and if not--I would look to see if someone I personally liked fell or go with Eric Green or Nate Wolters. Thats the whole gig--I do think that these guys will be available and if I truly believe that Muscala is a top 3 PF skill wise--then its a no brainer at 24. Go big if everything even.

BRIGGS wrote:Final picks for NBA 2013 NBA draft based on who I believe to be available

Pick 24

A. Mike Muscala PF 6-11.5 (this is my personal final pick)

b.1 Eric Green PG 6-2.5 175
b.2 Nate Wolters PG 6-5 200

Round 2 If available to us

A. C J Leslie 6-9 210 SF (Hes a jumpshot and some tightened handles away from being a Paul George type)
B. Trevor Mbwake 6-9 240 PF
c Ricky Ledo 6-7 205 SG

good find. I am not sure he will be there. Like Vucevic, this guy is flying under the radar a bit. I wanted Vucevic for the Knicks but once again, he got picked just before. Shump was good choice too.
