True. I think the talent is little more dynamic though, which might help us avoid being so predictable offensively. We also get a lot younger, and with that, a lot healthier throughout the regular season/post season.

The whole NYKMental thing should be left to rest in peace. Besides, UK management is a bit too slick to allow anyone to destroy the board. Unless there's some sort of leveraged buy out involved.

Darious Shetts and Grayson Giggles?

Does that make us true contenders? I don't know if thats even possible with our core, but Knicks did better than most expected last sesaon.

Three things can happen, we either get better, stay the same or regress. Sometimes other teams can determine ones fate.

In my scenario we have a 33% chance of improving, 66% we don't.

I think Grayson Giggles rebounding will really help this team! Shetts in the backcourt could help but he is still a bit of project!

Each of the players acquired should be considered upgrades over what we have. Games aren't won on paper though, which is why I was curious to see what others think.

Brandon Jennings> Raymond Felton
Jennings is better at running an offense and gets to the paint with greater ease than Felton. Add to the fact that Jennings is younger and I think it's clear who the better player is.

2013-2014 Iman Shumpert> 2012-2013 Iman Shumpert
Shumpert is a young player and will improve. Most players that suffer an ACL tear take a full year to regain their athletic abilities, which makes the sky the limit for Iman.

2013-2014 Carmelo Anthony = 2012-2013 Carmelo Anthony
I don't expect Anthony to change his game much heading into the season but I've been wrong before. Either way, a star player remaining a star player is not a bad thing.

Ersan Ilyasova ≥ Ronnie Brewer/James White/Chris Copeland/Marcus Camby/Kurt Thomas or whatever "forward" that is actually a forward that we put next to Carmelo
Ilyasova struggled most of last season but has proven to be a capable shooter from distance and an excellent rebounder when he is on his game. Either way, that is an upgrade over the play we received last season from the position.

DeAndre Jordan < Tyson Chandler
We might be taking a step back at the position but given Jordan's youth and room for growth, it isn't that big of a deal. Jordan has inconsistently matched Chandler's play during the season and showed something of a polished hook shot earlier in the season. If he is able to maintain some consistency and refine his moves, we might actually be upgrading the position.

Eric Bledsoe> Kidd/Prigioni/White/whoever else we put at this position.
Bledsoe is regarded as a starter by many teams, although I'm not sure why. At his worst, I think he can be a Bobby Jackson type 6th man which would be clutch for us given the fact that he can play either the point or 2 for us.

2013-2014 JR Smith= 2012-2013 JR Smith
It'll be more of the same for Smith; pretty good regular season with a disappearing act in the playoffs. It could be worse though.

2013-2014 Amare< 2012-2013 Amare
I was encouraged by what I saw of him early last season but I don't think he'll ever be healthy again. That contract will continue to plague us.

2013-2014 Kenyon Martin < 2012-2013 Kenyon Martin
He can look impressive in 20-40 games a year but the guy has had a recent history of health problems. Given another year of wear and tear to his body, I don't expect him to replicate his past performance.

LMAO. I had no idea about these guys but it would be great to have them aboard for the comedic relief. That would soften the blow of the 2008 draft, when the Grizzlies robbed us of a Rudy Gay and Kevin Love pairing to form a Gay-Love frontcourt.
