They dont have to trade us anything they are under the cap they can just take both are players and say F U
The only positive I see from not retaining Smith is we wont use are 2015-16 cap space which I didnt want to do. Losing him makes the Knicks worse for sure. They already have no reliable front court scoring outside of Melo now we will have no backcourt scoring as well. This team is a Melo injury away from being a lottery team with no picks.im tempted to say burn it down even though we have no 2014 pick. Maybe we can acquire 1 from trading Melo and Chandler or whoever else teams will take. A playoff contender will get desperate for a Back up PG at the deadline and take Felton for a late or lottery protected 1st. Get ready for 2015-16 season when we have cap room and picks.

I expect Ricardo Ledo to be a Knick tonight based on the Knicks only being able to offer Smith a small amount versus what a team like Milwaukee might be willing to pay. At worse you have a spot up shooter who can dribble the ball up the court and pass to Melo.

Healthy Shumpert who is limited offensively doesnt help the lack of scoring from the backcourt. I dont See Shumpert being an 18 ppg scorer
It will only make a difference in the regular season anyway. Is it worth taking 5 million a year cap space from 2015/16 and 16/17 to be the 4/5th seed and lose in the 1st round or keep the cap space and be the 6 or 7 seed and lose in the 1st round.In the big picture its probably better to let him go I guess

I AGREE.. JR Smith has some value to NYK, BUT His inconsistent style of play allows for wiggle room. IF we are outbid, He can be replaced... Ledo is JR Smith/J Crossover light (With a higher upside). I'd take him... As far as Milwaukee, they'd really be silly to pair JR and Jennings/Ellis in the same backcourt.. TWO NUTS plus poor shot selection equals less wins (Doubt they've factored this notion into the equation); BUT HEY, That wouldn't be our problem LOL! I'm more interested in picks at this point.. I disagree with most who view this as a weak draft.. we can get guys that will contribute both now and in the future.. MOREOVER better compliment Carmelo's skill set. Tasks for our GM, Trade Copeland for a pick.. GET UNDER THE CAP, for S&T's and deal J.R. Smith.. AGAIN Milwaukee's #15 would be great!

My guess is the Knicks take Dennis Schroeder. I think hes got a lot of talent but not quite ready. At 14 they will say BPA and take him. Thats not my pick although I think hes got a chance to be good--I think its the Knicks.

Draft express has had at 34 for several mocks. I have seen him in the late 20's in other mocks. Kabongo, Felix and McCollum are guys that seem to be projected as mid to late second rounders. I think those guys all have a lot of potential.
