OKC wants to package Perkins/12/29 for a Top 5 pick but can't find any takers....same link as above.

I think this draft has more talent than led on to believe

If the draft was trash they would.....2yrs $18mil while high per yr is not a killer of a contract considering it's an expiring after next season.

I'm shocked, shocked!, that OKC can't find a Top 5 pick for that package.

That trade offer is TERRIBLE. Especially considering OKC wants a HIGHER pick.

So let me review...

Giving up Shumpert to get the 13th pick from the Mavs isn't worth it because no one in this draft will be as good as him.

So OKC says we'll trade 12, 29, and Perkins for 5....So basically what the belief in these neck of the woods is that after pick 5 the rest of the draft is trash, which means our 24th pick is absolutely rotten in value.

Wasn't OKC rumored to want to dump a first round pick because of their cap situation? I think this is more an attempt at a salary dump then chasing a player they could get with the fifth pick.

That's funny. How about it would take 12*29 to get rid of Perkins

CrushAlot @ 6/25/2013 11:11 PM
It sounds like the nets really like Dieng. I am a bit surprised chad has Olynk falling to the nets.

They wouldn't be trying to land in the Top 5 for a Pure Salary Dump....How about 12/29/Perk for lower picks or future picks and small salary taken back?

Better yet trade out of this draft if it's so trash for future picks.

Top 5 picks come with higher salary slots and longer term deals...usually 3-4yrs guaranteed.

JamesKPolk @ 6/25/2013 11:53 PM
This is Grunwald's first real pick with us. Considering his draft record, not sure how confident I am.

He drafted Aleksandar Radojevic 12th overall, Morris Peterson at 21 (decent value but the guy only lasted a few years in the league), and Michael Bradley at 17.

Only good move was trading the rights to Jamison for Vince Carter.

CrushAlot @ 6/25/2013 11:54 PM
Draftnets extended mock has plumlee falling to the knicks
JamesKPolk @ 6/25/2013 11:55 PM
Plumlee sucks.
BRIGGS @ 6/26/2013 2:24 AM
I implore the Knicks to keep it simple. Draft Mike Muscala. I fully understand that the man needs 15 pounds(although he is 230+ now and by no means a a guy who needs rediculous body work)

After that lets take a look. We are playing with fire with our thin non offensive FC.

We have a C with NO offensive game we have Amare who cannot play more than 24 minutes and we have no idea how long he will hold up. Weve played carmelo out of position and while he can do that for parts of game--he will wear down. Its rare to find a 6-11 F with this mans offensive skills so late in the draft. You can find 6-6 SG in the D league--you can bring over 6-8 foreign players you can find sf's but baby 6-11 skill post players DO not grow on trees(either draft trade or free agency). Look at his skills he has an array of advanced post moves and an outside shot to 24 feet. When he is physically a finished product--he will be an inside outside monster. The ONLY reason why he is NOT top 5 is that 15 pounds they didnt physically train him right at Bucknell. And still he was the leading rebounder in the nation. We have a chance to solidify the 4 spot for 12 years--take your leverage and do it. I believe we can find a high quality PG in the 2nd round. The two hardest positions to find--a skilled big man and a quality PG--I believe we have the ability to do it. I wish I had the opportunity to make a few of these calls through the years not for any self adulation--but wed have better teams. Right on this board and the ole NYK I have predicted guys like Mike redd Wade Bosh kaman Stoudemire Bynum Vucevic i even wrote about picking Nate robinson 30 the year we took him 21. But this is an easy one this isnt hard this man has all the skills hes not 7-0 265 like Vucevic or Kaman hes a 4 but hes one heckuva prospect you do not find at 24. Lets add a PF and a PG to our roster--make some other small deals grab the best undrafted SL player and smart NBA minimum vets and lets go. This is a smart conservative pick. At WORST this man is a highly productive player as a third big in a 9 man rotation. At best this is a 20-10 PF for years.

I would take Plumlee. He fills a need with rebounding and toughness, kinda like Scott Pollard back in the day. Still hoping we can land a second-rounder tho.

I liked Hasheem because Im a Uconn fan. Mullens has shown signs of being a good NBA player. His problem is hes a 5 playing or trying to play 4. And no one is perfect that is for sure!

Let's hope Grunnie has your insight on this one. There are a lot of options at 24, but Muscala has all the tools to become a valuable asset. Think of him as David Lee, with Defense! We have no 1st round pick in '14. Make haste while the sun is shining!

Best rebounder in draft. Think about his rebounding at 245. Best assist big man in draft. Rebounding was a weak point for us. Man who grabs rebound who can pass+fast break and transition points. 2nd best scoring bigman in draft. Low turnover rate. Best shooter at Chicago combine Good shotblocker and 1-1 defedner. We can get him and an attack PG like Mcallum--keep it simple. Both have chances to be really good-but at worst their solid role players--but I do not think that Muscalas ceiling is a role player if he works hard.

Good call. I'm with you 100% on this guy. He's a quality pick at 24, no question. Nbadraft.net has this guy going in the 50s I believe, about 8-10 picks after Ryan Kelly. That's nuts and I actually like Ryan Kelly. He's no Muscala though..Lol
