It just occurred to me that the Mavs would probably be interested in making a play at Chandler if they fail to get Howard, in order to interest CP3 in joining the team. If a scenario like that begins to work itself out, however unlikely that would be, could the Knicks get a package of Darren Collision, the no.13th and 46th picks; maybe Shawn Marion too?

Does Dirk with Tyson really that appealing to CP3 to make that move and leave L.A.?
Collison might not be a true upgrade on Felton and what are we going to do three draft picks? Develop them?

I definitely don't think a Chandler-Dirk pairing is more attractive than LAC or what they could potentially get if they made a few moves. Then again, teams have had great delusions for this offseason and offseasons past. Dallas is already one of those teams thinking they can get both Howard and CP3 by dangling a 35 year old former all-star and a shell of a roster. Who knows, maybe they do the deal I proposed and do other smaller deals like last offseaso n to make a few more runs with Dirk. The more likely scenario IMO is that they move Dirk and take a swing at the 2014 draft.
As for what we do at C, we'd have to resort to playing the position by committee like most teams do anyway. I'm not too sure if that would be a downgrade considering how poorly Tyson Chandler has played in our playoff series.

No doubt, the recent buzz has been about a CP3-Howard pairing in a new destination but there are a number of factors working against their favor. I think its highly probable that Dallas misses both guys but I do think Chandler might be a decent consolation prize. That move would leave us without a starting center but we could replace him through a free agent signing (Samuel Dalembert, Jermaine O'Neal, Chris Kaman,etc.), trade (Ekpe Udoh, etc.), or with existing players in committee (Kenyon Martin, Marcus Camby and Amar'e Stoudemire).

This is a decent move, but only if you identify a player you really like at 13.
CP3 Toasted to play with Melo.
CP3 getting Celts group and likley stays.
Clips can offer Bledsoe and Griffin to Lakes for Dwight. Dwight gets max deal if sign and trade.
IM not sure how it all shakes out but Danny is making some bold house cleaning of Celts and Clipps going all in.
Celts can then get Josh Smith.
I don't see Dwight in Dallas if its just Dirk. If Dwight makes his way to Rockets without Sign and trade houstan can make some interesting trades with Asik to round out roster.
Read up that GSW are better spaced without Dlee if paired with Bogut. Maybe Dlee ends up in Houstan if they can't make a big splash.
Tyson I doubt goes anywhere.

Is Collison that good? I haven't seen much but he seems to ebb and flow a bit, if that's the reason for the trade I wouldn't do it. If it's to get high quality pick at 13 tgat may make sense. But I thought this was a weak draft? Could we get Olynyk at 13??

Its a weak draft at the top, but good quality later on. Yes Olynyk would be a player who could be available that you would target in this scenario.
Heres an interesting scenario. Would you trade Chandler for David Lee? GS seems to be going towards a lineup with only one big man, and using Barnes and D Green as forwards. Chandler would start for them and Bogut comes off the bench, as they can't trust him to play big minutes or for an entire season. We start Martin, Lee, Anthony, Shumpert, and Felton with Stoudemire coming off the bench. Don't kill me but it makes some sense for both teams. Provides us the offensive firepower we need.

This only works assuming you resign Martin, add another F/C like, say, Elton Brand, get some quality minutes out of Camby, and possibly draft a big man too. But if you don't do these things it doesn't make sense i agree.
I've got a novel idea. Let's keep Chandler. He obviously was still hurting during the playoffs. He's been a solid player for us and he does play defense where we desparately need it.

There aren't even any Centers playing in the finals. I don't think a center is a priority as much as just having a low post big who can score, rebound and block shots, maybe you get a offensive starter, and a defensive back up.
I don't think keeping TYSON really matters, which is why I feel he's is on the trading block on the low...Just like Amare was last off season

That is part of the problems Chandler gets paid way to much. I feel Jerome Jordan and Barron can give much more than Chandler, fraction of what Chandler costs.

Yes. Let's think about this for a second. Kmart breaks down, Amare ends up in traction by the end of camp, and we get to watch yet another season of DLee matador defense. While Cambyman mixes gatorade on the sidelines. Imagine Dlee defending Hibbert. Just for a second.

Mannn although I know it would be very silly to trade away a big man.. with no viable backup, in a big man starved league.. But Chandler needs to go IMO... The man can't score, and his defense is overrated... PLUS HIS CONTRACT far out weighs his production.. it aint justified. Mark Cuban is smart.. that's why he didn't resign the guy. Send him away for picks and cash.
