The Mavs just declined Collison's $4.5m qualifying offer making him an unrestricted FA. He'll probably be looking for a starting gig and more money than we can offer but I'd still call up his agent to feel him out -- offer him a contract (how high would you go -- the full $3.8m mimi MLE?) and guarantee him 25 mins a night splitting PG duty with Ray Felton. I like this guy man. He's quick as hell, he can distribute and he can score. Pretty good 3-pt shooter...Everything we need. He might decline the offer but you never know -- call up and find out. I don't think we can do any better for a backup PG.
I doubt we get him but it wouldnt hurt.
If we get him we should trade felton for a bckup PG and picks.
I like him...jumper is flat as all get out but he plays hard and can distribute the basketball. Probably still can't afford him.

I think brooks comes for vet mini so I would go for him first. I like collision but he would probably only come for the mini mle. I think the Knicks need to make a great signing with their mle. I am not sure if collision is that guy. He was great when cp3 went down. He hasn't played like that guy for awhile.

Probably right on that. Brooks is a comparable talent that we might be able to get for less.

To me, Felton is better off the bench han as our starting PG. He just isnt what we need there. So if this can happen, awesome!

He'll probably make more going to Houston in a trade if Detroit takes Lin. That 15 million will be a hard pill to swallow for some. Also, the Mavs are after him but if they don't get Howard maybe he wants to play for a contender.
DC is better than brooks.
Given our budget for free agency, and a current defensive deficiency .. I'd rather.take a flyer on Devin Harris. Cheaper and. Bigger plays defense.. was a scorer once upon a time. That said I do like Collison .. just think he'll be out our price range smh. Collison is a true lead guard.. NYK needs that.
Darren Collison and Raymond Felton are basically the same guy as far as Im concerned. I like him, but he and Felton have a very similar game IMO.
Probably can't get him but it wouldn't stop me from inquiring. I'd see if I could get him for the mini-MLE. I'd make the offer and request a quick reply...If he decline, THEN I move on a guy like Aaron Brooks. I'd also see if I could pry Patty Mills away from SA. And if nothing else materialized, then I'd target Devin Harris.

2. Attempt to acquire Patty Mills in a small/sensible trade with SA (using cash, Brewer trade exception, etc.).
3. Offer Aaron Brooks a vet minimum deal.
4. Offer Devin Harris the vet minimum (this guy probably wouldn't accept that though).

+1. And he's worth paying a bit more for too imo. Question is can we offer enough to satisfy him? Never know unless we reach out to his agent. Maybe there's no market for him at bigger money -- Dallas didn't think he was worth a $4.5m QO. I understand they, like Houston, are clearing as much room as possible for D-12 and Collison was a causality of that, but still...Dallas jerked this guy around last year and by season's end, I read he was relegated to 3rd string PG, essentially out of the rotation. We might be able to steal this guy right now at a reduced number..
