Knicks · Nets get Kirilenko (page 5)

Nalod @ 7/13/2013 10:55 AM
Maybe Prok loans him money when he retires to buy his own club in Russia. Maybe AK made an "Investment" with Prok that was "favorable"?

I was suprised when AK did sign for so much money last season with Minny. I thought he'd come to bkn then. I am surprised Blatch came back when I thought he could have made more elsewhere and given a starting job.

Im surprised JR smith resigned with knicks and thought he'd make more. Im surprised the Birdman can't get a contract for more than 1.7mm he is taking with Miami. They don't finish the season 45-3 without him or perhaps win the championship without him.

I can imagine in pro sports with type A rich powerful men there have been many instances where players are enticed under the table with money or promises.

I think Blatche's situation is different because after this year the Nets have his early bird rights. Also, I believe he is still being paid by the Wizards so he had the luxury of being proactive with his future and setting himself up to get paid and stay in Brooklyn.
AK's situation has to make you wonder.
CrushAlot @ 7/13/2013 11:11 AM

On a side note, saw these guys perform this at a Knicks game in Cleveland when Lenny was coaching the Knicks and they had a throw back thing going on at halftime.

Exactly, but the only reason AK47 and Porko are being called out is because they are Russian. We live in a society steeped in hubris about our so called social and cultural values of fairness, equality and democracy and then we revel in tarnishing people who may have done nothing wrong simply because they are from a different country. It's disgusting.

Papabear Says

This is a nice pickup and the Nets have a lot of talent the question is can everyone be happy and can they all jell together. On paper now the Nets look great. My knicks!!!! well I'm pissed off that we always have to pay a lot more for talent and give a lot away.

Well MInny and Joe Smith were called out for it and Minny lost draft picks. Was it because McHale is Irish?

anyone know how Melo and Kirilenko matched up back when he was with Utah and Melo in Denver?

Vs Nets

AK47 on Melo 1v1 is tough as is

with KG helping him and another BIG like Lopez/Evans/Plumlee *unlikely to play as a rookie*

is going to be very tough for Melo to do his ISO thing
On top of it, Kidd KNOW's both Melo's/Woodson's weakness's, game plan, plays, where/how they want the ball, and tendencies

lack of SPEED is the Net's cryptonite

We need very good penetration with PLAYER MOVEMENT/PICKS ON AND OFF THE BALL/GREAT SPACING/ and GOOD ANTICIPATION
and
mix it up with facilitating/scoring/going to the line

We will need to hit lots of 3ptrs, get to the free throw line, and shots to beat them

playing ISO Ball is playing right in to their strengths comparable to the size of Indy and Chicago
Those teams are build on SIZE, DEF, and grind it out/beat you up inside/wear you down type of games
They have talent on offense as well but have no EGGO issues

They will never foul out with all those bodies and will likely wear our guys down while they can afford to play 110% in limited minutes

Grunweld needs to get creative and Woodson needs to be less stubborn and creative as well

we basically have to be hot balls shooting combined with jr in a hot swing to beat nets,

nets crush us in 7 game,

ak is serious baller, kg is serious baller, pierce is serious baller, deron and brook are serious ballers,

who are our serious ballers? we have melo as a serious baller and he does not have the best balance,

tyson isn't serious he's fugazi, amar'e is more or less fugazi, jr definitely fugazi, bargs is fugazi at the end of the day, felton is donut fugazi,

you just don't have serious players on the knicks,

even the owners: prokof is serious and dolan is a klutz, he's a dainty boy

Nalod @ 7/14/2013 11:06 AM
I can see Bargs as having a big impact in the last minute of a game where you can platoon him in and out with Tyson. Offensive long rebounds are a function of luck and shots but he has a lot of weapons.

Bargs, Melo, JR can all create own shot.

Nets go to man to man defense and they will be tough.

JJ, Deron, AK, Bropez, Pierce, Blatch and even KG all an shoot.

I don't get why spacing would be a problem?

I am not sure about Ak, he is pretty hit or miss from year to year from outside. Also, did he mean offense or defense?

I did the comparison for Metta World Peace and Kirilenko. 20 games and 2 playoff games against each other. World Peace holds a slight edge. I think WP will neutralize AK47 when we play the Nyets.

20 games regular season
