I'm retiring and playing hockey
Metta is most likely coming to NY. I think it would be stupid for any other team to try and take him off waivers. Why would he want to finish out his career anywhere but NY? He can have his family members see him play on a regular basis for the 1st time in years. I think he's serious about retiring if someone else tries to take him.

People mature..I want a championship in the worst way and this guy puts us a step closer.. Always underrated offensively and his defensive skills are still first rate. This guy could really help us. Gives us a lot of flexibility. Plus, he wants to be here. Go ask Melo, LeBron, Durant, Pierce, Granger, George, etc. if they enjoy playing against this guy...
What risk a roster spot that Chris Smith will take if we dont use
What risk? Risk that the guy never goes postal at the wrong time (like in the playoffs). That risk. I have to believe he's past that stuff now. A little bit of chipiness is a good thing with this guy as long as he doesn't go over the edge. Reading a lot of these tweets from the experts, it looks like it may be harder to land him than I thought. But we're still in it. He makes a ton of sense for us. Hopefully it'll work out.
I wold rather get him than Raja Bell at this point.
does anyone know the bidding process actually takes place for the Amnesty? when will we know if he's an unrestricted FA?

thank you guys! hoping Ron can rely on the old "i'm so unpredictable who knows what i'll do" card and everyone passes on him. BRING RON HOME!

where my photo shop guru's?
It's a long shot, unfortunately. Here are a list of the teams that are under the cap and can make a bid:
Atlanta Hawks
Philadelphia 76ers
Detroit Pistons
Orlando Magic
Sacramento Kings
Milwaukee Bucks
Dallas Mavericks
Charlotte Bobcats
Utah Jazz
Cleveland Cavaliers
Phoenix Suns
I'd say Cavs are a threat as they wanted to sign Paul Pierce, so I think they're still interested in getting a vet SF. Also the mavs see to have a thing for stocking up on vets over the past few seasons. Wouldn't be surprised if the hawks put a bid in either.
Even if he clears waivers, yahoo said that he'd be interested in signing with:
Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets, Miami Heat, Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs and two of his former teams — the Chicago Bulls, who drafted him in the first round of the 1999 NBA draft out of St. John's, and the Indiana Pacers
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-d...Not getting my hopes up.
Also, as a side note, Tyrus Thomas's time on Amnesty waivers is up today- it'll be interesting to see if anyone bid on him (I'm going to guess Mavs! They just renounced Brand so I guess they need a PF)
Wouldn't the threat of retiring and simply being Ron Artest draw many suitors aware from claiming him? I think he wants to be here and would be ecstatic if he ends up in a Knick uni. Really hope this happens.
Then go resign KMart to play C bc we are going to need to have some real toughness against BK and Indy.
Bring Ron home! Need more crazy on this team...

I'd love for us to get MWP, but like I said, I'll believe it when I see it! We need his toughness, and we need a SF if Melo is going to play PF. MWP threatening to retire is obviously a ploy to put teams off picking him up off waivers, however Billups tried that when we amnestied him and it didn't work- Clips picked him up and talked him into playing. Teams will see through it. It's going to be a nerve racking 48 hours...
my only problem with Artest is his behavior. i mean we saw how JR Smith really kille dus in the playoffs with his antics i dont want it to be worse
Just to give the time scale- Howard Beck just tweeted that the amnesty clock for MWP starts at 5pm today (apparently it always starts at 5pm), and so we should know after 5pm Sunday whether anyone picked him up off waivers.

Wow RT @shahanLA: Metta World Peace just told @mcten and I that he has no desire to play in the NBA next season.
