THJR has crazy hops. I personally think he can contribute this yr

Jeremy tyler is NBA ready, the kid has talent

Cj leslie needs to stay focused. But he has a good first step. REALLY REMINDS ME OF MICHAEL BEASLEY

See for your yourselves

THJ is very good and simply needs to learn better shot selection. CJ Leslie needs to work on his jumper, but overall he can do just about everything well and just needs more refinement on his skills. Toure Murry is my favorite SL player to watch. I love big PG's and he's long and has really good lateral quickness. Murry and Shump would be a terror on opposing guards defensively. Tyler gets a bit wild, but you have to love his hustle and energy. Jennings is a lot like Leslie but a bit further in his development IMO.

This is a really good SL crop. I was excited to see this team before they started but I had no idea of the talent level of some of these guys I hadn't seen before. Even Vargas can play.

TheGame @ 7/15/2013 6:46 AM
I agree. THJ just needs to work on the shot selection. He also needs to add about 10 lbs of muscle, but that will come with age. But overall, he looks like a real NBA player. CL Leslie needs to develop a jumpshot and add about 20 Lbs of muscle. I think he has skills, but I don't think he has the jumper needed to get playing time right now. We should send him to the d-league. Tyler should definitely be signed and put on the d-league team. While Tyler could probably play now, I think he really needs another year of development with getting major minutes, so the d-league would be good for him. Murry is a good defender. Not sure if he is a PG though or how he fits with Shumpert. Vargas looks good too. Knicks found some good players for their sumer league team. We need to keep all the big men (and obviously we are keeping Hardaway and Leslie), and then we have to pick between Smith and Murry.

Toure Murry is my favorite player to watch right now as well. Clyde compared him to himself. I can totally see that. They have very similar mannerisms and Murry plays good defense full court. I really like the dude. His motor and bid language is great too.

Jerome Jordan is annoying. He has an nba body. He has really strong nba ready moves. He's in great shape. He's the best big man in the court. Problem? He has zeroconfidence. He is thinking too much. Something isn't clicking mentally. I wanna see how he improves in Vegas. He delicadefinitelytely had the skill to be a real nba center.

I saw a Jerome Jordan clip on youtube and it showed him doing all these great posts moves. I didn't see much of them his last time around in NY or in SL. Might be a confidence problem, I don't know what it is. You're right, he's too damned passive.

callmened @ 7/15/2013 7:30 AM
Tj has all the offensive tools..he just needs better shot selection...and learn how to play one on one def..hes too upright when he guards...he needs a kower center of grav

Is frustrating as a fan because like every kid that picked up a basketball, i wanted to be a nba player. I had no chance due to everything lol, but when you see a guy that is so close you just want then to succeed and fulfill their dreams.

Jeremy Tyler, Murry, and Jerome Jordan are so close. We should invite all three to training camp.

This kid Jennings looks like something too. Alot of energy. Reminds me of Travis outlaw

Tyler and Murry played with energy, Tyler a little too much at times lol. He straddles the line between high energy and volatile. I like that Tyler has an attitude, and I hope he makes the squad, but I also hope he can keep his temper in check.

I like Jennings too, these were some very good invites. On a side note, I saw Andy Rautins in summer league for Chicago, can't believe he's still in the league in some form, lots of players have come and gone who were better.

Finestrg @ 7/15/2013 9:13 AM
Terrence Jennings definitely has moved to the top of the bigs on our SL team. And, yeah, with only a handful of games over a week span to watch and render judgement, every games counts toward the decision of who to take north. Great performance by Jennings yesterday -- who knew he could shoot the ball that well? Vargas can stroke it too but this kid's energy level and overall game looks better.

And Toure Murry continues to impress big time. Plus size at 6'5", applies great defensive pressure on opposing PGs (along with some quick Derek Harper-like hands), able ball-handler despite some turnovers the past couple of games and he's capable offensively. Forget training camp -- this kid could make the final 15-man then way he's playing.

Toure Murry is reminding me of a poor mans Jarret Jack *maybe not the PG that Jack has GROWN/DEVELOPED INTO THE PAST 2-3 years*
Jack could defend and play 3 positions at PG, SG, SF, while his strength is probably playing the SG with 2 ball handlers
However, he has improved his handle, passing, court visions, facilitating skills, ability to run a team, very much, and it was all when he was about 30 which is very rare for a player
He can be a LEGIT PG vs being a combo guard that can be forced in to being more of a scoring PG/combo guard

Murry could use his size/length/athleticism and has the ability to stay in front of opponents PG, something we really lacked
I think he still needs to improve his PG skills but the potential/ability is there and he would be a GREAT pickup to PUSH THE TEMPO as well as his DEFENSE
Since he shows great defensive instincts and heart, he is the chance to actually play vs Copeland, instead of Woodson putting Murry in the doghouse
In my opinion, he has been the #1 player in summer league on our roster that could make our team and AT LEAST go to training camp with Jeremy Tyler, CJ Leslie, and Jerome Jordan
Please let it be a 2 year deal, with either TEAM OPTION or guaranteed money *we can not afford to let players leave after one year of service*

I would really like to add Bobby Brown which is also another scoring PG with good penetration ability
He is comparable to a poor man's Bayless
I know Woodson prefers veterans but the PG position needs speed/quickness/ability to penetrate and that generally comes with younger players
Thing about Mrry and Brown is, like Copeland, they are not REAL ROOK'S, both having experience from around Europe and now trying to follow in the foot steps of Copeland/Lin/Novak, trying to get back in the NBA but I would not give them just a 1 year deal, at the very least TEAM option with even partial guarantees if they make it through the 1st season

I think Jerome Jordan's physique has improved VERY MUCH and is now ready to make in impact as a backup C, just not sure if he is closer to 2nd tier or 3rd tier
He always had good defensive instincts to go with his legit 7 foot size/wingspan/ DEF, rebounding, and shot blocking ability
But the past 2 years, has forced him to work even harder to improve his game, and has developed a decent post game, foot work, PnR, improve his overall skills, and physical abilities to be a NBA player

Jerome Jordan is the complete opposite of Jeremy Tyler who is actually closer to 6-10, is still very raw with talent, and needs to continue to WORK HARD/TRAIN in the gym and on the court
Tyler has the potential, athleticism, and physical POTENTIAL to be a NBA player but has a lot of work to do to go with his rawness
It would be nice to be able to have both of them together in practice to help develop/push each other game's and confidence

However with 5 roster spots *included CJ Leslie as a spot already* left, I am not sure if we can afford to do so

2 PG/Combo G
===================
Toure Mrry
Bobby Brown

Nate Robinson
Udrih

Aaron Brooks
AJ Price
Patty Mills

Jannero Pargo

1-2 F, 1 SF/PF, 1 PF/C
===========================

MWP
James Johnson

Stephen Jackson
Shawnee Williams

Haggins
Anthony Tolliver

2 Centers and PF/C
==============================

Kenyon Martin
Ivan Johnson
Brand *not too fond of him at this point of his career, would prefer Martin much more*

Jeremy Tyler
Jerome Jordan

Cole Adrich
Marcus Cousins
Jared Jerries

Byron Mullons

Players in bold are the players I would target the rest of the MINI MLE with with team option for 3rd year is possible

I have no problem with giving player options for vets that would be taking less in order to come but it simply isn't worth it for MWP and some older players in my opinion
IF MWP wants the rest of the MINI MLE, which isn't much more for him since he is a 10 year vet, I would move on to the next player
I would rather divide the rest of the MINI MLE in 2 with 2 players like Tourre Mrry/Bobby Brown/Tyler to get 3 year deals with TEAM OPTIONS just to lock them up without the possibility of losing them in the off season or overpaying in order to keep them
Since they are looking to get back in the NBA, we have leverage on some of these younger talents, and we should use it to our advantage

I read one drafting analysis. they called it "tight ankles". Couldn't figure out what it meant. I guess that's it.

tight ankles is when you can't cut like a puma

For what it's worth, Jarrett Jack is still only 29. He came into the NBA as a defensive genius - he's one of those guys who adds extra value because he can read other team's offensive sets and communicate them to his team. The's the guard version of Shane Battier.

Murry sounds like he's made tremendous progress since college - and even if he isn't a FT PG, looks like he's evolved his game enough that he has a bit more offensive understand to his game than Shumpert. Shump on the other hand has the all-world athleticism on his side.

I'm not sold on Jeremy Tyler. Such tremendous optimism around him here. He's been in the NBA w/ GSW & Atlanta for parts of 2 seasons. He hasn't torn it up - and he was let go by Atlanta, a team that isn't super deep in big man talent.

I agree that he brings a lot of upside - maybe under the tutelage of Chandler, Herb, et others can help him emerge into an NBA rotation player down the road, let alone a future starter. Seems to have more game than someone like a Jordan Hill, for example.

I always love the effort the summer league guys give - one year with MDA- I thought we would have won more games if we had just kept our SL team!

In terms of roster spots- I would love to get Aaron Brooks if available - and MWP if he'll come - but I would pass on every other over the hill veteran and fill it with these SL guys because it seems ever so often there is 1 SL guy that misses our roster who then goes on to have a really solid career.
