I hope Metta can give us that, and the ability to switch with Melo and take some of the pounding inside is a definite perk. Sliding Shump back to the two is another little convenience.

I don't expect much from STAT, but another year, another chance to roll the dice and see if he can stay healthy. If he can, it's 100% bonus.

The rest of our core: Felton/JR/Melo/Tyson/Shump/Prigs/(hopefully)K-Mart have a year of chemistry under their belts.

I believe that Martin is saying that you are purposely misrepresenting situational facts in order to make your negative point look stronger than it actually is. Bargs has been injured on and off in the past two seasons so it is more difficult to assess how this impacted his performance. The amnesty clause in the new CBA is part of roster movement in the NBA these days, so if the Lakers used it on MVP, it has little to do with how he will perform or how valuable he will be for the Knicks.

Well that's not what he said. But the Lakers had lots of choices on who to amnesty and they chose MWP. The fact that Bargs can't stay healthy is a negative, not a positive.

Plus when we were always over the cap, we constantly got rosted about how much we were paying. When we traded picks for over the hill players, we always got roasted. Nets do it, and its fantastic. KG is 38/39 years old. Pierce was done last year and is now, what 35/36? They gave up 3 1st rounders, 2 of which are going to be really good. Now the media is praising the Nets owner for how high his tax bill is. Really?

The Nets got Andrei Kirilenko, one of the best multi-position defenders in the league last year.

The Knicks got Metta World Peace, who's still good, but has lost a big step from his prime.

The Nets took a massive step forward, addressing their defensive concerns while adding depth and veteran leadership.

The Knicks kind of stumbled forward.

But the Knicks crashed to earth in a fiery mess in the playoffs. The Nets, meanwhile, had a good year, and had good momentum going into the playoffs, then came completely unhinged against the Bulls.

of course it is. pierce and garnett are veteran leaders with championship pedigree. this is a very savvy win-win move for the nets.

Sure, they are guys that can try and cover on the floor for Kidd's inexperience, but if you've got a year to win a championship, you want to bring in a first time coach with absolutely zero experience as the guy to get you over the hump?

he led the nets to two finals appearances and was integral to a mavs title. he has basically been the coach on the floor while he had his legs. he's going to have lawrence frank at his side.

in baseball you get a lot of catchers who become managers and i imagine there are more point guards who become coaches than other positions. i think the three of them are going to be pretty tight insofar as they have the highest BBIQ. when the legs go it can be tough but passing can lengthen a career. in pierce and garnett you have guys with superior passing and playmaking skills. to me the real question is how well does joe johnson adapt for them. if he does then watch out.
