“I will never tweet,” he said. “Because, the thing about being in the limelight, you’re like the homecoming queen. All the other girls hate you.”Barkley then launched into a bit of a sociological commentary, noting that it’s not worth it to be on Twitter because half the people on there will be pre-programmed to hate you.
“Dumb people don’t like smart people, poor people don’t like rich people, ugly people don’t like good-looking people…”
If all this sounds like a very long way of explaining that Barkley doesn’t like trolls, you’re right. That’s exactly what it was.
The best quote came when Bartiromo pointed out that even though Barkley wasn’t on Twitter, he still had plenty of opinions, at which point Barkley interjected: ”I want to get paid to be opinionated.”
Keep on being you, Sir Charles.

Good for him. Whether it's just coincidence or great insight, he's batted around .900 in his analysis of the Knicks.

Way to sympathize with the enemy... lol Just kidding...

We disagree about the percentage. I do think it coincidence. Charles can't get guys names right and generally doesn't seem prepared.
"Iman Shumpert only cares about offense", yea that Sir Charles!

Did he say that? Most NYK fans narcissistically think the league pays a lot of attention and cares a lot about them. Charles probably just saw a few forgettable minutes here and there from Iman.

Was Shump chucking it up that day? He had a few bad games early in his rookie campaign and if that was the game he was yelled at by MDA for being delusional, than perhaps it was what he was seeing.

Because New York is, in fact, the largest market in the league.....
Never liked C. Barkley. Hate the way he stomps all over other peoples lines during broadcast. He's more wrong than right and says too many stupid things. He was wrong about the Knicks in terms of how good they were vs the Nets. It only seems like he was right about the Knicks offense, because Kidd wore down, JR was hurt and Woody refused to play our other shooters, Cope and Novak. Also Woody didn't play Prigs and Shump enough. The Spurs also took a ton of 3's and were a lucky game 6 from winning the title. Barkley just throws out cliches and acts like he's some expert. I love when Kenny Smith clowns him.
Sir Charles tends to get the details wrong but his over-arching insights are usually spot on. Last year he hated the Knicks offense because it was a jump shooting offense. Ther Knicks looked fantastic until April came and the team had to play half court ball. The Knicks looked awful. Chuck rubs me the wrong way but I have to give him credit. He may come across as a Knicks hater but its not like he's tkf or something

When deciding whether to watch a game, I've never cared about the market sizes of the two cities. I doubt Charles does either.

he was right about lack of rebounding, jump-shooting dependency, and being pretenders as a result.
so he got it wrong about the nets. BFD he is still a terrific basketball mind. i am also a fan of shaq and smith. add chris webber to that list, who is also terrific. you should listen to webber's color commentary-- just great.
anyway don't we care more about how insightful barkley was about the knicks?
barkley is enjoying himself and he comes across that way to me, and he enjoys clowning and being the butt of jokes. he won an emmy award for his work for what it's worth.

I agree on your point about Charles. I'm saying that the league cares a lot about the NYK franchise as it is one of their biggest moneymakers.
For example consider the amount of nationally televised games we get each year compared to other teams of similar ability. We think we are always in the spotlight because we often are.
Another perfect example- Jeremy Lin. You think he blows up half as much if he plays for the bucks or timberwolves?
Last summer "Nobody on the Knicks plays any defense". Riiiiiggght. This is definitely insight!

I could be wrong but I think Charles said that before Shumpert even came back. They were talking about us getting Amare and Shump back and Charles was saying they dont help because they dont play defense and he said all Shump wants to do is shoot or something like that.
I hate Charles barkley more than anyone but he was right about certain things about the knicks last year. he said the lack of rebounding and defense would ultimately end our season early and taht is what happened

I was thinking it was his rookie season, first month of the season or close too.

The Memphis game right? I think Charles said it then too but he definitely said it this season past season as well.
I like Barkley, he should have won a ring for his opinions alone.

Papabear Says
Barkley is a drunkin bum at times. A few times It seemed to me he had a few drinks. Barkley is the type of guy who can say anything and get away with it like a Rush Limbaugh. There are people who love him and just as many people hate him. He is like Stephen A Smith. Stephen A sounds like a hater and mean. But he knows exactly what he is doing and so is Barkley. 2 angry like men who are sell outs! Read through the lines and you will see who they really are. They are butt kissers.
Barkley could have killed someone driving drunk but his standard is different than other commentators.
People like sarcastic type of speakers like O'Rielly on fox. Angry sells. Mean people sells. Barkley is a sell out.
