They said during the sl game that because Amare has already played for Team USA that he would not be eligible to play for Israel.
I was hoping Amare would retire and just go play for Israel. It very hard to carry that dead weight around.
play for Israel? he can't even play for the Knicks, what is this guy smoking

Its hard for me to totally dislike Amare because I know he works but he is killing the Knicks just as bad as Eddy Curry

i'm happy with 20 solid minutes a game next year

he is the Grant Hill that Tmac signed up to play with for The Knicks
As much as he hurt the Knick's, he has been a gym rat and even payed out of his own pocket to improve with Hakeem
Personally, I can't hate him, and I applaud his effort, at the sametime I realize how much damage he has done in addition to majority of the trades in which we overpay for talent
His only chance is to revive his career back is with Phoenix and their medical genius program/recovery
Unfortunately it would be a fraction of his current salary, more likely the vet min or closer to it, and not being guaranteed on top of it

I think there is a high likelihood he retires after the contract. He has a lot of other interests beyond Basketball. If he can still play it would be nice if he stayed in NY on a vet min deal

I'm not sure that's true- take his $20mil off the books, and we're still over the cap. Would have meant we had the full MLE which could have netted a good bench player, but thats about it. He's an expiring contract after this season, and having him on the team helped us get Melo, Tyson, Felton, which in turn got us JR and K-Mart. Really frustrating he can't stay healthy, but even though he hasn't played much he's had a better impact than you'd think (unless you hate Melo etc!).
Going back in time, which FA would you rather have signed instead of Amar'e? (remembering most of the FA's chose to go elswhere). I think the only alternatives were Boozer or Lee and fan's of their current teams HATE them. Plus they wouldn't have attracted Melo and Tyson.
Things could have been worse- remember we wanted Joe Johnson to pair with him! Fortunately Atlanta overpaid even more than we were able to! Man clearing all that cap space only to be stuck with injured Amar'e and aged Joe Johnson for 4 to 5 years would have finished me!
amare is a prince compared to Sad Fat Eddy.
Eddy is tragic. Amare is unfortunate.
Eddy ate cap space, ate himself out of the league, ate Noah and ate Algridge.
Amare was a free agent.
Eddy is immature and broke.
Amare owns part of a Israeli team and seeks to expand.
Eddy is liked by Isiah, former president of the knicks.
Amare is liked by the president of Israel.

I think I would take the roster spot and the MLE over Amare. The constance going in and out of the lineup while trying to cater to him does more harm than good to the team.

If you're in a vacuum you gotta stay put that offseason if nothing is going your way and you swing for the fences again a little later. I know this was not an option and SOMEONE, ANYONE had to be signed, so this is how we got Amar'e,

The Only MAX FA's I wanted were Lebron,Wade or Bosh. They were the only 1's I considered worth the contract and risk. Once Amare signed and started beasting i was like boy was I wrong but No I wasnt. I realize though it wasnt an option what i wanted.I did like amare more then Lee and Boozer.
